my new winter schlump about the house/get covered in chalk dust so i look like a dissolute teacher item: shawl collar linen cardigan. $66 from $200 in the club monaco sale

i dont really f w cardigans but i think id like a deconstructed wool 'sport coat' w a shawl collar thats like almost a cardigan

i have a big grey wool shawl-collared cardigan that i use as a shacket, it is very baggy and loose. i have to shave it every couple of weeks because it pills so bad.

i am p into crew neck wool sweaters rn tho, this summer has been really mild and i like wearing sweaters in the evenings, sweaters + shorts is my favorite thing to wear ever

i find a v neck a bit easier to pull off if you are less ripped. it also works better under a jacket.

grey sports jacket, burgundy v neck, white oxford = all time.

but i do own crew necks, don't get me wrong!

agree. i'm average (modulo a vv cute little beer belly) and i don't think it would be a flattering look.

i may be conflating this with british aversion to shorts (i.e. something you force a child to wear, not something an adult wears).

male people's aversion to shorts is the weirdest thing to me. legs & ass are the biggest muscle groups and a lot of guys have great legs & butts that they cover up because... why??

to agree with caek, i am usually looking for an excuse to not wear shorts, whereas the local mentality seems to be the reverse. like, i can convince myself it is not shorts weather outside if i have my a/c high.

i like shorts a lot but i think its a nerd thing, spending a significant amount of time with nerds has taught that almost no weather is bad enough to not wear shorts in, esp if they are cargo shorts convenient for carrying around lots of extra things in. the weird corollary to this is its never hot enough not to wear multiple layers of tops that you are constantly having to shrug off

fwiw i do not like layers very much rn, i am always trying to wear as few things as possible

i like shorts but sweater + shorts is too temp-confused for me.

on the cardigan stuff imo if you find the right simple and nicely cut one they are amazing, look great with shirts and like a casual set-up for some print or whatever, but it is incredibly hard to find basic ones that are good. i have one i got in cos about two years ago and it's retained quality really well for the price.

agree the romulan emperor thing is prob a jacket, which is good given the price really. the shot from the back makes it look quite baggy but i still reckon it looks a really unique thing for the winter, would be amazing surrounded with basics.
