the sad part is SOME trad menswear blogs are well researched and actually have a great wealth of knowledge about textile and craft, but that knowledge is used almost exclusively for the purposes of the most odious and gratuitous class distinction, like these are people who use the word proles without the slightest hint of irony

yeah i guess i feel more "let 'em have their lil hobby" than you but there is something uncomfortable abt it

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 00:37 (twelve years ago)

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 00:39 (twelve years ago)

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 00:41 (twelve years ago)

i'm glad we were able to help ronan find a jacket

i liked the one he posted, seemed like a less fitted / darted cut which i dig

haha - i got this our legacy one in the end.

it was £350 but i am fairly sure i'll be wearing it for years. the shop are gonna shorten the sleeves a tiny bit but it was a nice fit other than that.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 19:55 (twelve years ago)

it's v similar to the one i posted but irl that was v wooly and i already have a quite heavy kenzo double breasted wool blazer i got on ebay, plus this wedding on sat could be hot.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 19:56 (twelve years ago)

while i was at the shop i also saw this which i thought was kinda cool, might consider it deeper into winter. bit more romulan emperor than my normal garb.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

Awfully heavy for a "cardigan" but I would totally love that in my wardrobe.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:37 (twelve years ago)

ya imna go ahead and call that a jacket, p dope tho

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:53 (twelve years ago)

correct, also romulan emporer is a v admirable style to emulate, v fashion

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:59 (twelve years ago)

love the material, loathe what they made of it

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:12 (twelve years ago)

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:21 (twelve years ago)

my new winter schlump about the house/get covered in chalk dust so i look like a dissolute teacher item: shawl collar linen cardigan. $66 from $200 in the club monaco sale

http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=78423758

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:29 (twelve years ago)

it weighs about 5 lb

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:29 (twelve years ago)

i dont really f w cardigans but i think id like a deconstructed wool 'sport coat' w a shawl collar thats like almost a cardigan

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:32 (twelve years ago)

cardigans like mine look great until you stand up imo

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:32 (twelve years ago)

caek that looks nice. is it big and slouchy

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:33 (twelve years ago)

i can't pull off a cardigan :(

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:38 (twelve years ago)

imo the appealing thing about cardigans is that no one can

max, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:39 (twelve years ago)

you go for the biggest, ugliest slouchiest ones

max, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:39 (twelve years ago)

i had a couple grunge cagrigans when i was a teen

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:40 (twelve years ago)

one of them even had maybe a safety pin holding up a detaching strip of suede

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:41 (twelve years ago)

this is prob why im injured to cardingans

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:41 (twelve years ago)

i have a big grey wool shawl-collared cardigan that i use as a shacket, it is very baggy and loose. i have to shave it every couple of weeks because it pills so bad.

i am p into crew neck wool sweaters rn tho, this summer has been really mild and i like wearing sweaters in the evenings, sweaters + shorts is my favorite thing to wear ever

the spectacular cow (Lamp), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:42 (twelve years ago)

im a long time crew neck sweater partisan

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:44 (twelve years ago)

i find a v neck a bit easier to pull off if you are less ripped. it also works better under a jacket.

grey sports jacket, burgundy v neck, white oxford = all time.

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:47 (twelve years ago)

but i do own crew necks, don't get me wrong!

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:47 (twelve years ago)

just want to be clear, i have nothing against them

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:48 (twelve years ago)

ok were cool

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:49 (twelve years ago)

feel like you gotta be a skinny dude to not look bad in a sweater and shorts. w/ no real basis i am absolutely certain you are a skinny dude lamp so i am sure you look great.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:53 (twelve years ago)

i am terrified by the thought of leaving the house in a sweater and shorts

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:54 (twelve years ago)

lamp is def skinny and looks good in sweater n shorts i think we can all agree

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:55 (twelve years ago)

wait by not-skinny do we mean larger chap or just regular here

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:01 (twelve years ago)

i feel like there could be a pluggers about this

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:05 (twelve years ago)

i was thinking skinny aka slighter than average

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:05 (twelve years ago)

agree. i'm average (modulo a vv cute little beer belly) and i don't think it would be a flattering look.

i may be conflating this with british aversion to shorts (i.e. something you force a child to wear, not something an adult wears).

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:11 (twelve years ago)

nice shorts nice sweater, can't see why the average man wouldnt look fine

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:12 (twelve years ago)

feel like this would be a p cool look for a bearish aging frat boy

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:13 (twelve years ago)

i thought all britishers only wore pants and nothing else

乒乓, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:14 (twelve years ago)

dont the english wear kilts tho

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:16 (twelve years ago)

i love it when burly dudes wear cute shorts because it's cute and also: thighs

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:16 (twelve years ago)

this is what i am wearing today, would appreciate feedback

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

wow GISing 'sweater shorts' brings up lots of sexy ladiez

乒乓, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:18 (twelve years ago)

male people's aversion to shorts is the weirdest thing to me. legs & ass are the biggest muscle groups and a lot of guys have great legs & butts that they cover up because... why??

men! show me your legs! they look great!

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

lol yes i was just making that discovery xp

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

to agree with caek, i am usually looking for an excuse to not wear shorts, whereas the local mentality seems to be the reverse. like, i can convince myself it is not shorts weather outside if i have my a/c high.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

i wear shorts sometimes but only ones that cover my butt

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:20 (twelve years ago)

im pretty shorts adverse but if its hot enough then i do

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 20:21 (twelve years ago)
