xp lol free shoes, awesome. what size are you? i bet you have small feet, you are nimble like a small footed dude.

my only experience with lands end is work shirts but i can def vouch for those, i have several right now

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 12 August 2013 20:01 (twelve years ago)

Apparently distance shoes size up; in normal shoes I wear a 9 but all of these are 10 1/2, which have the side-effect of making most of them the most comfortable Nike running shoes I've ever worn (nb I'm never, ever running in any of these)

OH MY GOD HE'S OOGLY (DJP), Monday, 12 August 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

lg the black rubber sole feels a little clashy/out of place to me with that leather but otherwise you could kick some ass in those

call all destroyer, Monday, 12 August 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

i think it is a dark brown sole?

i actually recently bought proper running shoes solely (pun intended) for comfort, and cos i think i have kinda messed up my feet walking a lot in unsuitable footwear. they are the greatest things, i am so happy.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 12 August 2013 20:12 (twelve years ago)

feel like baggy top and skinny bottoms has been an option for a long time but its kinda more an advance move

ive always though this was a good look after watching jamc vids

乒乓, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 01:07 (twelve years ago)

i feel like the boxy voluminous dress shirt looks good with high waisted pants, you get this nice exactly square silhouette, and if the fabric drapes well it can look really clean

乒乓, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 01:08 (twelve years ago)

agree. baggy top skinny bottoms is very classic.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 01:51 (twelve years ago)

you button up that top up all the way and you're good

chinavision!, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 01:52 (twelve years ago)

i am a big fan of the invisible tie

乒乓, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 02:02 (twelve years ago)

I'm going to a thing tomorrow night and have been instructed to quote "dress to impress" unquote. WTF does that mean, really?

Tempting, but it would needlessly obscure my spandex zentai suit, ball gag and propeller beanie.

want to buy a new navy blazer for a wedding i'm going to this week, and for general wear after, it's incredibly hard to find something without a dumb extra pocket or a silly gimmicky design quirk. any tips, anyone?

considering this one tho i've not gone to an IRL shop to try it on yet:

http://www.oki-ni.com/outerwear/our-legacy-men-s-navy-soft-canvas-three-button-rolling-blazer-ole1803nvy.html

it's pricey enough but i know a good navy blazer will be something i wear repeatedly, for years.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Monday, 19 August 2013 19:54 (twelve years ago)

do you mean blazer in the english sense (double breasted, different coloured buttons)? or are you just looking for a blue, slightly casual jacket?

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:00 (twelve years ago)

can't you just get a suit jacket?

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:00 (twelve years ago)

yeah, if you just want a more formal navy jacket then the theres quite a few to choose from - i have a surface to air one i really like that seems like it would fit yr general style and requirements. their classic two button jacket is quite nice but they're also doing a p handsome one button one this season that i'm considering, despite the fact that i doubt i will ever wear it

the spectacular cow (Lamp), Monday, 19 August 2013 20:06 (twelve years ago)

i have a single button blue jacket that has become one of my goto garments

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:08 (twelve years ago)

one button, so baller

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:08 (twelve years ago)

it has tiny white dots on it tho so its vv casual

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:09 (twelve years ago)

jackets really seem like the kind of thing you need to try on in person

乒乓, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:10 (twelve years ago)

well you can always return it

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:11 (twelve years ago)

if you know yr size and can ascertain the general cut you can make a good guess

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:11 (twelve years ago)

tbh i don't really understand what a blazer in this sense is, except a blue suit jacket without its trousers. is it just slightly more deconstructed cut, cotton mix rather than wool?

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:12 (twelve years ago)

btw that rag and bone jacket i bought totally doesnt fit me and is unreturnable if anyone wants to make me an offer lol

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:12 (twelve years ago)

actually it kinda fits just doesnt look quite right

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:13 (twelve years ago)

ty joe for proving my point! ;-)

乒乓, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:14 (twelve years ago)

haha

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:14 (twelve years ago)

i had a good run before that tho

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:15 (twelve years ago)

anyway maybe just dont buy it on final sale

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:15 (twelve years ago)

i am looking for a sports jacket for teaching. should have bought that in the uk though. situation here is either $$$ or men's wearhouse nerdy.

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:16 (twelve years ago)

have you gone to suit supply? i haven't but have heard that it may be worth checking out

乒乓, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

actually I just went to their website and don't like any of their jackets :-/

乒乓, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

if we assume $500-800 brooks bros is out of my range, anywhere else i should be looking to get that look?

miss u oxford...

xp thanks

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:20 (twelve years ago)

yo lagoon what size is yr unreturnable jacket

OH MY GOD HE'S OOGLY (DJP), Monday, 19 August 2013 20:21 (twelve years ago)

42, i paid $200

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:21 (twelve years ago)

its $700 retail iirc

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:22 (twelve years ago)

i have had good luck w suit supply so far, am about to buy a tux from them, will update.

adam, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

who's actually purchased a suit/suits in nyc, and how much did you pay?
I need at least one more suit. I bought a j crew thing (brown suit, slightly lighter weight) that probably came to $500-600 or so, but had to have a lot of tailoring done on it (for about $100), and it's still just not quite right.
I want a dark grey or navy suit in a more conservative cut. but I'm tall and have no shoulders. nothing fits that well.
:(

chinavision!, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:28 (twelve years ago)

I guess I wanted to ask if anyone's done suitsupply for one thing.
but I worry that their suits might tend to have that too-small look to the jackets that has also been the trouble for me with j crew.

chinavision!, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:29 (twelve years ago)

depends on your sizing. i'm on the small side, and years ago i bought a suit from APC on Mercer that is still the most perfect fitting suit I've ever worn. still going strong after 7 years. don't know what their stuff is like now, though.

Spectrum, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:31 (twelve years ago)

blazer is i think a more specific term than sportcoat. it seems like blazer should maybe be confined to the solid navy/metal button garment, but there's a whole world of sportcoats including navy ones.

call all destroyer, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:32 (twelve years ago)

there are tons of suits at macys, most of them are prob pretty blah but you can find some cool stuff too, bloomingdales etc likewise

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:33 (twelve years ago)

yeah i think this might be a british/american thing

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:33 (twelve years ago)

blazer means the thing w the shiny buttons in america too i think

lag∞n, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:34 (twelve years ago)

a bit pricey for me, but I might take a look. been thinking of just going through suits at bloomingdales too.
I found an amazing burberry suit at a consignment shop yesterday for $350, but I just couldn't commit without knowing how easily it would be able to be tailored. the arms and chest were definitely a bit too wide.
did I blow it?
xxxpost

chinavision!, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:35 (twelve years ago)

i dont think there is like an official difference between blazer, sportcoat and suit jacket

max, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:36 (twelve years ago)

and I know you're supposed to get the arms dead on, but my tailor took in the arms on the j crew suit?

chinavision!, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:36 (twelve years ago)

"my tailor"

chinavision!, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:37 (twelve years ago)

"took in" as in made them narrower or shorter?

caek, Monday, 19 August 2013 20:37 (twelve years ago)
