Just got feet, don't got SHOES

I'm trying to buy summer shoes that aren't expensive but don't look cheap. It's difficult. If I were willing to spend $150 a pair it would be so easy.

an eternal problem! they all look cheap because they're just straps on soles -- this is what i don't like about summer shoes! i guess i don't like minimalist shoes.

i think that last pair are expensive-looking

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

Sigh. Now I'm like, what if I just bought the Crocs sandals (the cheapest) for cheaping around in, and spent the same amt I was going to spend anyway on one pair of spectator oxfords? This decision-making is ridiculous.

re boots, I thought you were anti-beige? (I'm not).

that's why i slob around in various old sneakers all summer
i have one or two pairs of fancy summer shoes that i wear if i am getting dressed up and for all other occasions, slob city

i am not even allowed to look at shoes for a long long time, which is unfortch b/c drooooool

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:13 (thirteen years ago)

summer shoe-shopping sucks. I bought two pairs of these cheap-ass flimsy things last year and they lasted through the summer. I've glued buttons onto them now.

http://i.imgur.com/93KqcaA.jpg
but they're not really real shoes and I need some!

kinder, Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:16 (thirteen years ago)

I'm not really a sandals person either, so what happens is every year I think, maybe THIS will be the year that I learn to love sandals! So I buy some but the straps cut my feet or give me blisters, and when it rains my wet feet slide around the slippery footbeds, and you have to keep up your pedicure, and your feet are always filthy. I should embrace the perforated oxfords 4lyfe.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:18 (thirteen years ago)

Consider the Worishofer. Very comfy, can walk for mile in 'em, pretty cheap.

kate78, Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:18 (thirteen years ago)

downside: you absolutely cannot wear them in Europe, for there they are old lady and waitress shoes. You will be mocked by Germans.

kate78, Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:19 (thirteen years ago)

... was gonna say tbh

kinder, Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

Oh. Shit.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i was gonna say those look like hella old lady shoes except the 711 maybe!!

oxfords are always good
sometimes i feel that in summer the foot needs to breathe a little though, like with a light sneaker (keds or w/e)

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:26 (thirteen years ago)

I need shoes that go with dresses, though.

I love old lady shoes and I love the Worishofers but they were already adopted by every Brooklyn girl of any means like...4 years ago? Also $75-100 isn't "pretty cheap" to me, alas.

Maybe I'll crumble and try them this year anyway.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:29 (thirteen years ago)

That last pair looks pretty sweet imo.

I wear sneakers with dresses :-/
That's what I meant about slobbin'.

Those white ones are delicate and cute.

Leaning toward these I think!

I kinda like aerosoles - they have mostly ugly stuff but then the occassional decent thing, and they are super comfy. I got red and white striped espadrilles for $50 and these cute white with black animal print no-lace sneaks fur $40

Campers are excellent. I'm wearing a pair right now.

kate78, Thursday, 23 May 2013 21:57 (thirteen years ago)

I like the normal sized heel width on the Worishofers. I haaaaate the skinny heels all wedges seem to have these days.

tokyo rosemary, Friday, 24 May 2013 02:38 (thirteen years ago)

I have those Kim campers!

ljubljana, Friday, 24 May 2013 03:01 (thirteen years ago)

oh mine dont have as much orange. more blue/purple/red. its from vintage fabric so each one is different... maybe i should get a third pair...

phil-two, Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:28 (thirteen years ago)

I had my heart set on a pair of canary yellow Cole Haan wedges, but it looks like they're discontinuing them.
Specifically I wanted them to go with the navy-blue fitted dress I bought for my brothers' wedding.

this is the dream shoe
http://ladstep.atspace.cc/photos/cole-haan-womens-air-tali-ot-wedge-sunlight-glisten-heels.jpg

As a girl who has only ever really worn black, I'm trying to be more color-friendly but I still don't really know what I'm doing.
Thoughts on alternative colors?

they have them in 2 other colors - pale blue
http://g.nordstromimage.com/imagegallery/store/product/Large/19/_7844859.jpg

and fuschia
http://a3.zassets.com/images/z/2/2/6/2/2/7/2262273-p-MULTIVIEW.jpg

Also since I may not have the money to purchase these for a while and there's a chance they'll discontinue the whole lot, if you know of any other similar styles that might suit, I'm up for suggestions. I don't want a thin/spike heel because we'll be outside on grass, i'd rather something in a wedge with no more than a 2inch heel because I am a baby and I don't wear heels a ton.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

that turquoise color would look good with navy, ime, more than the fuschia

just1n3, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 19:19 (thirteen years ago)

there are limited sizes of those yellow ones available on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cole-Haan-OT-40-Sunlight/dp/B0090A38VY/ref=sr_1_2?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1370373585&sr=1-2&keywords=cole+haan

just1n3, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 19:20 (thirteen years ago)

don't be afraid. the yellow is fantastic and the best color (of those 3) to pair with navy

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 19:32 (thirteen years ago)

i think you might get the most wear out of the yellow, too - would like awesome with jeans

just1n3, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 19:42 (thirteen years ago)

the yellow cole haan's arent in my size (i am a 10) i found a pair of ralph laurens (style is called celine) though that are similar, so I may just try to stick with yellow :d

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 19:49 (thirteen years ago)

that was supposed to be :D

My cousin had me buy these yellow dudes for her wedding (I'm matron of honour) - we're big footed yellow shoe sisters, VG! I like yours better but this was practically the only yellow heel I could find in Canada in size 11. I wish she would've let me wear flats, not just because she's only 5'4"ish!

Did you mean the Ralph Lauren "Cecilia" espadrille? I can't find a style called Celine. :( Do not like the Cole Haan blue option, I think you're absolutely right to stick w yellow. I think the topstitching around the opening of the CH wedges does not look very Quality, even if you could find your size I wouldn't get those unless they were on sale/cheap.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 01:07 (thirteen years ago)

Otoh the Ralph Lauren Cecilia espadrille looks like kind of a nice shoe.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 01:12 (thirteen years ago)

Yes Cecilia is the one. The marigold shantung feels like it is right.

I see what you mean about the Cole Haan re topstitching. They are a little *too* casual/office-looking.

Plus the ralph laurens are like HALF the price

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 01:32 (thirteen years ago)

Excellent!! Even if the Cecilias aren't the most comfortable shoes in the world, they're bright and cheery and half the price.

I can't post images from work but just wanted to say that I got these sandals this year and they are SO COMFORTABLE and cute in person. I'm kinda in love with them.
