i feel like i've reached a 'certain age' where one of my dreams involves a room w/a floor-to-ceiling wall of books and a window seat.

oh and bcz of orbit being a genius on the cleaning thread I am going by the hardware store tonight to pick up at least 1 window cling for the bathroom (and maybe one for the dining room)

hate those things tbqf, i respect the idea but i don't think they're particularly functional in a way that lends itself to ease or attractiveness.

every time i see one i want to say, 'you're right...no human being would stack books like this.'

i got it for a song off my gf who is trying to get rid of some furniture, and it fits the space but you have to be a real perfectionist to fit books in there the way they do in promo photos

btw the genius idea of building closets in bedrooms is the #1 area where the US kicks the UK's ass. That and good pizza delivery.
After leaving the luxury of 2 closets in my one-bed flat in the US, I was so happy to move into my new place which at least seemed to have built-in wardrobes in all the rooms... until I tried to hang something up and none of them were even deep enough to hold a coathanger that way round. Honestly.

I've had those shallow closets in a late-1800s Brooklyn rowhouse. I bought a steel garment rack for my clothes and filled the shallow closet with these:

we have a loaded sapien, seems totally stable and isn't really a pain to arrange by size w/in reason. nice space saving way to keep a lot of books imo

oh hey, i totally forgot to mention this: we have a BIG front porch for our own use! not exactly private, since we're on a corner lot and the porch wraps around to face both streets, but that can be managed. it's like a whole extra outdoor room! crazy!

The only thing as fun as a duvet cover is a tangled set of earbuds. (Even after sewing in straps in the corners.) Argh.
