I would be willing to sit still and let anybody try any of those out on me, though.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 14:33 (thirteen years ago)

my problem is my eyes are set deep and the browbone area has not a lot of real estate

I loooooooove wearing lots of eyeliner but it makes my eyes look small. But yeah I'm inspired to try some of these jams,

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 16:57 (thirteen years ago)

i've wondered if maybe my eyes are just not the sort of shape that takes well to upswept eyeliner. every time i've tried it i just wind up looking like or at least feeling like baby jane.

i get mad wobbly line due to my eyelid skin too. I have quite a steady hand otherwise :(

kinder, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

under eye concealer reqs go

My old one just ain't cutting it anymore. I need a powerful one that won't sink into the couple of fine lines I seem to have developed :(.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 17:51 (thirteen years ago)

My eyelids are hooded, so I have no idea how to do a winged line that doesn't make me look like an 80 yr old

just1n3, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:01 (thirteen years ago)

i use this in buff
that's right, "buff"

I was struggling to find undereye concealer that didn't do that "settling into fine lines" crap and this is good, albeit pricey - http://www.sephora.com/effacernes-waterproof-protective-undereye-concealer-P54438

carl agatha, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:16 (thirteen years ago)

I have that and it is very good but I felt like sometimes it looked a little cakey? I still do use it occasionally and might go back to it if I don't find something else.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:19 (thirteen years ago)

I use Touche Eclat but it doesn't really cover like a proper concealer. Also I mainly use it on the inside bit on the side of the nose where I have huge shadows (it's v good for that)

kinder, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I used to be able to use only that. *sigh* It is very good for that though and for brightening in gen.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:24 (thirteen years ago)

I felt like sometimes it looked a little cakey?
Either it does and I go around looking cakey all the time, or maybe you were using a little too much? either of these things could be true, i realized that i am somewhat out of touch with what normal people do/look like lately.

and that sounds like a gong-concert (La Lechera), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:26 (thirteen years ago)

No, I meant the Lancome one!! These things also react differently on different people. I might not be cakey on J but I have dry skin so maybe it's a little to dry for me?

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:28 (thirteen years ago)

This stuff has some good reviews. I'm gonna be near an Ulta this weekend so might go try some out.

I gob on the under eye cream when I get out of the shower (it is visible because I put it on so thick. Same with moisturizer) so that's probably why it works on me. If you find something that is not cakey but also doesn't make mascara run, please oh please post it here!

carl agatha, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:35 (thirteen years ago)

I will! I also do want to start up the blog again soon now that things are calming down a bit.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:36 (thirteen years ago)

Oooo concealer that looks interesting. Please report back!

fyi - I am still really into that stick foundation I talked about. Napoleon something or other. It evens out my face really nicely and I don't feel like I'm wearing foundation. Kind of magical, really.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:39 (thirteen years ago)

Ha, I'm so bossy today! ENBB TELL ME ABOUT YOUR MAKEUP ON THIS BOARD.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:39 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha

My make-up lately is boring. I think it's stress but my skin is driving me nuts and the worst it's ever been in my life. Granted I've always had pretty good skin so it's not really THAT bad but I'm breaking out here and there like a freaking teenager and it's driving me crazy.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:45 (thirteen years ago)

I have no makeup news to report other than I tried Clinique stay matte powder (in 'stay buff', ha) and it seems v good for, well, staying matte.
Also I got a bit fed up with They're Real! mascara feeling plasticky so I went back to Chanel Inimitable Intense which felt amazing for about a week then went flakey and fibery so They're Real is back to being my #1. I think it just doesn't last as long as I thought.

xp yeah my skin went mad during my time of mega-stress last year. I am so bummed I can't get the cheap lotion stuff here that I got in the US that sorted out my chin :(

kinder, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:48 (thirteen years ago)

my skin goes totally apeshit during times of stress as well.
it'll pass!

and that sounds like a gong-concert (La Lechera), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:50 (thirteen years ago)

Much as I am v happy with the Revlon Colorstay, I still just can't wear foundation every day. It still feels very mask-like.

I know I probably should really investigate this properly and find a lighter kinder foundation, because I do feel weird giving everyone my oh-hai-I'm-pink-no-makeup face at work, but while I'm trying to heal this rosacea it just feels like it's worth it to leave my skin alone in that regard as much as I can.

No-one really notices but me, but the Cerave/Cetaphil is really working well I think. But it's going to take a long time. I've heard up to a year before results from the barrier restoring doodads really are noticeable.

I also read from a medical journal paper on rosacea and skin cleansers that waiting half an hour after washing your face before applying moisturizer can help reduce redness too. So I'm trying that as well. I dunno, I feel like it's all helping.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 18:56 (thirteen years ago)

I'm using Bobbi Brown tinted eye brightener, and it seems to not sink into my lines as much as the little BB pots of thicker concealer used to. Although it also probably does less for me. I can't tell, honestly.

Have you thought about false eyelashes?

tokyo rosemary, Friday, 12 April 2013 02:00 (thirteen years ago)

OH MY GOD there's a woman who lives down the street from me who does such a great job with false eyelashes, she uses hair extension glue, which is still removable but longer lasting than the non-waterproof stuff they normally sell for falsies. I mean they're clearly false but then so are almost all kinds of makeup, and she can go swimming in them and sleep in them and they look gorgeous. I am so tempted to enlist her help.

Maybe I'll trade her some nail art for my lashes done up.

Voluminous is my fave.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 12 April 2013 03:46 (thirteen years ago)

sorry for the porn-y pic, I couldn't find a proper full face example

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 9 May 2013 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

I admire the technical skill involved! But not personally something I wear.

Vg,, I'm trying out a eucerin daily moisturizer that is supposed to reduce redness (I have a lot in my cheeks), will let you know if it does any good.

Man, my under eye area is a total disaster and I'm feeling pretty lucky I wear glasses - so thin skinned, crepey and DARK. But I have finally figured out how to apply foundation without looking like a clown and I'm pretty stoked -only took t till the age of 33!

just1n3, Thursday, 9 May 2013 19:25 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, or as I uncharitably thought, "Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it."

carl agatha, Thursday, 9 May 2013 19:27 (thirteen years ago)

yeah I mean I can totally see it as a runway look but daywear? i dunno. they'd have to be pretty subtle colors to not look like you just blew a clown.

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Thursday, 9 May 2013 21:55 (thirteen years ago)

Also:

Any white liquid liners to recommend?

FYI Christine: Revlon have just released their Pacific Coast collection. I know its not liquid but applied correctly (short strokes) it might have the same effect:

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 16:51 (thirteen years ago)

I was wondering that myself, but cannot bring myself to do the Milk Carton thread because it seems a little stalker-y to me.

quincie, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:00 (thirteen years ago)

why do you think i jumped on this marvelous opportunity?
for someone who shared abundant details about her life here, it seems peculiar for her to just completely disappear

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:02 (thirteen years ago)

in other news i have been wearing a lot of purple eye shadow and i like it

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:03 (thirteen years ago)

i hope she's ok :/ but she has disappeared for long periods of time before.

tza sent me a shockingly bright coral blush a couple years ago, which i thought was an eyeshadow for a long time, so clearly i wasn't going to wear it. now that coral is trendy, i found it amongst my tiny pile of makeup and tried it - the color of the pan is so deceptive! it's actually a very very pretty coral that looks great and not horrendously neon at all.

just1n3, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:03 (thirteen years ago)

i will confess that I have no idea how to wear blush and that I have never worn it

i think part of it is being naturally pink-faced I feel like makeup looks best when I look pale, adding red flush to my cheeks is just like, mentally, why would you want to do that when I look that way ALL the time

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:11 (thirteen years ago)

justine was it nars in orgasm?

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Wednesday, 15 May 2013 12:35 (thirteen years ago)

No I'm pretty sure its not - its like SUPER neon coral.

just1n3, Wednesday, 15 May 2013 14:13 (thirteen years ago)

I have not put on makeup for maybe four weeks now. I kinda miss it! But it just doesn't seem to make sense when I am in and out of the water multiple times a day, plus it is HOT HOT HOT and putting on makeup feels about as sensible as putting on a sweater.

Maybe I will invent a date night when S and I go to the one restaurant and I will put on makeup for that.

quincie, Wednesday, 15 May 2013 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

I'm so envious of all the swimming that's happening in your life.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 15 May 2013 16:10 (thirteen years ago)

otm

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 15 May 2013 16:11 (thirteen years ago)

I was thinking this morning that I really want to go swimming. I mean, I swim at the gym but I am thinking more like "playing in the water and floating around."
