it comes in black, too, but I totally want the bright, eye-searing blue...

homosexual II, Thursday, 14 March 2013 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

the blue is amazing

purp (roxymuzak), Thursday, 14 March 2013 16:43 (thirteen years ago)

love the blue

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 14 March 2013 17:32 (thirteen years ago)

Speaking of blue dresses, I'm thinking about this one. It's kind of expensive, but I can't stop thinking about it:

That dress is GORJ, carl.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Friday, 15 March 2013 17:00 (thirteen years ago)

That's fantastic. I really like the red version as well.

ljubljana, Friday, 15 March 2013 17:32 (thirteen years ago)

I ordered FOUR more eshakti dresses! Laurel, I have a $20 discount code plus if you use ZEROSTYLE in the promo coupon space you get 20% off

But I'm worried I got lucky on my first dress, which came quickly and is perfect, and theseothers are going to take forever and look terrible

just1n3, Friday, 15 March 2013 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

JUSTINEHUR261 is the friend code for 20$ off

just1n3, Friday, 15 March 2013 19:00 (thirteen years ago)

do eshakti clothes fit per the size chart?

homosexual II, Friday, 15 March 2013 19:34 (thirteen years ago)

In my experience, it's a little style dependent. I've found that anything with a defined waist that isn't a wrap dress is true to the size chart for me. Every time I've deviated from that style, my results have varied.

carl agatha, Friday, 15 March 2013 19:36 (thirteen years ago)

I ordered two things off the size chart and neither fit and both were cut really weird tbh. I returned one and wound up never wearing the other. :(

go to party leather (ENBB), Friday, 15 March 2013 20:03 (thirteen years ago)

That's really sweet, Just1ne! I'll think it over. I shouldn't be buying ANYTHING frivolous right now, though.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Friday, 15 March 2013 20:09 (thirteen years ago)

I got custom sizing bc my measurements run across 3 different sizes, but I've heard that the custom sizing can still be off. But yeah, I'm still riding the wave of ecstasy that came from putting on a simple summer dress and feeling comfortable AND pretty at the same time - never happened before tbh.

just1n3, Friday, 15 March 2013 20:49 (thirteen years ago)

I just ordered two dresses, so we'll see.

homosexual II, Friday, 15 March 2013 21:17 (thirteen years ago)

got this because I think it'd look nice with my coloring

ilx ladies have A+ taste in dresses

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 15 March 2013 21:25 (thirteen years ago)

I ordered one in that color too! But 3/4 sleeves and with the sort of gathered v neck with tabs

just1n3, Friday, 15 March 2013 23:51 (thirteen years ago)

that dress might make me look really hippy, because I already have gigantic hips (52"!!), but oh wellllllll

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 30 March 2013 02:56 (thirteen years ago)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 30 March 2013 03:00 (thirteen years ago)

Right now my husband's wrapped up in it with the puppy on top, you'll have to battle pretty hard to get to it!

I'm scrappy

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 30 March 2013 03:03 (thirteen years ago)

When Max was young I was obsessed with calling him a "happy scrappy puppy." It got weird.

In dresses news, I'm using some of unemployment to sew, and I made myself a navy blue pencil skirt! No pictures til I fix the wonky side seam but I am pleased, having used no patterns and ending up with something almost outside-worthy.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Saturday, 30 March 2013 03:21 (thirteen years ago)

yay! i cant wait to see it!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 30 March 2013 03:25 (thirteen years ago)

Awesome, Fine! Was just looking at machines tonight.

*tera, Saturday, 30 March 2013 05:01 (thirteen years ago)

Sewing machines are pretty great! If you have the time. Suddenly it's all like, hey, I can make those curtains! And the table cloth! And eventually you're upgrading to nicer clothes, etc. It just makes a huge difference from hand-sewing, even if you don't magically become an expert tailor or anything.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Saturday, 30 March 2013 05:03 (thirteen years ago)

Buuuut if you wanted to be an expert tailor, Threads Magazine is toooootally the thing.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Saturday, 30 March 2013 05:03 (thirteen years ago)

I basically learned to sew from a) watching my mom, and b) reading Threads exhaustively before I even had a machine, just puzzling out how the directions would work. I was also young and energetic and poor and creatively frustrated so it gave me an outlet, but seriously, Threads is serious.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Saturday, 30 March 2013 05:04 (thirteen years ago)

Oh yes, I think you told me about Threads before! Thanks for the reminder.

It's been a nice way of feeling productive while unemployed, definitely. Lucky for me I've picked it up at the same time Grandma has given it up so I got lots of free supplies from her! Including soo many shoulder pads.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Saturday, 30 March 2013 14:05 (thirteen years ago)

Unemployed? Are congratulations or commiseration in order? (sorry if I missed it on another thread.)

carl agatha, Saturday, 30 March 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)

Oh, no worries! I got laid off along with about 25 other people at my company, with severance which is why I'm sewing myself pretty things rather than looking for jobs (blessing/curse)!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Saturday, 30 March 2013 15:05 (thirteen years ago)

I hope you find something great and sew a lt of awesome clothes in he meantime!

carl agatha, Saturday, 30 March 2013 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

Thanks! That job was irritating me too much at the end, anyway. And now I have time to sew up all the clothes in my closet with holes.. I may also chop up an eshakti with a beautiful skirt but an ill-fitting bodice!

i like the color and somehow the ruffliness appeals to me. once again they don't have my size :(

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Saturday, 30 March 2013 21:00 (thirteen years ago)

Love both of those. Would buy both (at a charity store charging about a twentieth of the price).

ljubljana, Saturday, 30 March 2013 21:05 (thirteen years ago)

the blue one is only like $300.. it would be nice if they get my size back in

I have a couple weddings to go to in the spring & nothing suitable to wear - only dress that might work is deep green and raaather short, I like it fine but my parents will be at one of them & I expect my mother would say something like... you're wearing that?!

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Saturday, 30 March 2013 21:15 (thirteen years ago)

both are gorgeous!
