My dream shoe wardrobe would be endless Roger Vivs and Ferragamo pumps tbh with a side of motorcycle boots. But a) I'm a cheap bastard and b) walking around destroys nice shoes.

The shoes are here in size 7 and 7.5, and the difference is very slight and made up for by a light pair of knee socks. I might just keep both....

Those are great.

ljubljana, Saturday, 26 January 2013 00:32 (thirteen years ago)

They are better than white shoes.

carl agatha, Saturday, 26 January 2013 00:33 (thirteen years ago)

Considering these at the moment, not 100% sure though:

they look like common projects shoes? which I really like

I just had at least nine pairs of shoes and boots repaired & sole guards added, with the intention of saving money through not buying new shoes this fall/winter. $450 later.. I know this was necessary to keep a lot of my favorites from being totally ruined, but I sure would like to have bought some new shoes with that money. they did a good job saving most of them, but unfortunately polished the wood heels of my l.d. tuttle boots with dark brown, permanently staining the original medium grey color. (I think it's permanent? I can't figure out how to fix it without taking sandpaper to them which probably would damage them and not work anyway.)

one month passes...

Please, I need a tutorial on how to wear rolled-up jeans in early spring. Which types of shoes/boots can I get away with? Do they have to meet the jean? If not, in what circumstances is it ok for socks to be visible? Do they have to be 'wacky' socks for it to work?

ljubljana, Friday, 29 March 2013 16:28 (thirteen years ago)

???

1. All. 2. No. 3. Yes, but I prefer either sockless or knee-highs for one less visual interruption. 4. I'm partial to fishnet knee-highs, for instance, for some interest without nec being wild colors but wild colors are good too.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Friday, 29 March 2013 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

thanks. I tried black socks with rolled up jeans this morning, and blue Oxfords, and it just didn't work for me. I might try to get some of those really short socks that aren't visible under, say, Oxfords. Fishnets are a good idea too!

ljubljana, Friday, 29 March 2013 16:46 (thirteen years ago)

I knew it would be you who would come to my rescue on this question, btw.

rolling up your jeans is all about freedom, let those ankles be free and sockless!

the late great, Friday, 29 March 2013 16:55 (thirteen years ago)

Maybe in a couple of weeks and a few degrees higher!

Looked at my closet today and made the mistake of getting on zappos to look for shoes under $50. Unfortunately 4 pairs of shoes under $50 still equal $200.

Having trouble deciding between those and these:

hmm. the detailing on those is interesting. but also a touch more 'western' maybe? the first ones seem a little more classic.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 23 May 2013 17:29 (thirteen years ago)

I know but the first ones aren't made of suede, they're fabric. And wider/slouchier. :( I liked them too but almost the same price for fake suede is nagl.

oh well then #2 definitely.

Ugggghhh I took the books off my list, almost certainly won't need them by the time they arrive what with it either being summer or rainy, neither of which says "suede!"

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 17:54 (thirteen years ago)

Erm, BOOTS.

ooh those sandals are cuuuute orbit

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 23 May 2013 17:56 (thirteen years ago)

I'm trying to buy summer shoes that aren't expensive but don't look cheap. It's difficult. If I were willing to spend $150 a pair it would be so easy.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:04 (thirteen years ago)

an eternal problem! they all look cheap because they're just straps on soles -- this is what i don't like about summer shoes! i guess i don't like minimalist shoes.

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

i think that last pair are expensive-looking

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

Sigh. Now I'm like, what if I just bought the Crocs sandals (the cheapest) for cheaping around in, and spent the same amt I was going to spend anyway on one pair of spectator oxfords? This decision-making is ridiculous.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:11 (thirteen years ago)

re boots, I thought you were anti-beige? (I'm not).

Because drool.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

that's why i slob around in various old sneakers all summer
i have one or two pairs of fancy summer shoes that i wear if i am getting dressed up and for all other occasions, slob city

i am not even allowed to look at shoes for a long long time, which is unfortch b/c drooooool

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:13 (thirteen years ago)

summer shoe-shopping sucks. I bought two pairs of these cheap-ass flimsy things last year and they lasted through the summer. I've glued buttons onto them now.

http://i.imgur.com/93KqcaA.jpg
but they're not really real shoes and I need some!

kinder, Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:16 (thirteen years ago)

I'm not really a sandals person either, so what happens is every year I think, maybe THIS will be the year that I learn to love sandals! So I buy some but the straps cut my feet or give me blisters, and when it rains my wet feet slide around the slippery footbeds, and you have to keep up your pedicure, and your feet are always filthy. I should embrace the perforated oxfords 4lyfe.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 23 May 2013 18:18 (thirteen years ago)

Consider the Worishofer. Very comfy, can walk for mile in 'em, pretty cheap.
