Seconding io on the eyes. I am notoriously terrible at picking cuts (and clothes!) for me or for others because I am no good at visualizing how things will look, but anything that makes your eyes stand out can't really fail.

I'm in the chair right now! Stylist suggested I just get a little trim, shag 4 lyfe I guess.

Salt spray!! Why didn't I think of that? Beach hair is the best. I just made a homemade version based on instructions I found online, and I can't wait to try it. (I used salt, water, and a little jojoba oil. Might add a drop of wax or regular hair gel if necessary.)

Got it chopped again, shorter, shaped above the ears. It's choppier but possibly still not sufficiently choppy. Off to find that sumo wax now.

I cut mine again, too--short, boyish, shaved in the back and short underneath...it is basically this haircut.

Actually it's exactly that haircut and also that color. I have that guy's hair.

Apologies in advance for hueg, have not learnt how to shrink. This is sans sumo anything. I think it still needs to go shorter at the front.

Kind of, although a few weeks into the last cut I'd worked out how to make that more textured too (wash hair, tousle hair, go to bed). Still want eeeeven more texture. Meant to go to Sephora today to get sumo; didn't. I like the over-the-ears cut much better than tucking it in myself, though.

do you use dry shampoo? that adds a lot of body/texture

Good idea - I do use it sometimes, though need it less with short hair than with long. Will try for styling purposes.

i've been using the ridiculously cheap suave dry shampoo, it has less smell then the batiste stuff. i find it works best if you use it before bed - your head moving round on the pillow all night works it in so you don't get that white residue

Great cut! There is a dry shampoo called "The All Nighter" (I found it once at Urban Outfitters, lol!) that comes in colors and has a slightly tacky texture that I think would work great for getting texture/chunkiness.

I keep meaning to do a post on the IFP-N blog about my many and varied experiences with dry shampoos/hair powders.

Bumble bumble make colored dry shampoos that have that tacky texture too. I like them because they have travel sizes which will last me at least 6 months. I mostly use the darker blonde for temporary low lighting purposes but that alone can give a whole lot of depth.

What is so great about these brushes?

They just feel reeeeally nice - they dont snag, the bristles go through my hair to scalp (unlike my other boar bristle brush which just sort of bounces off), but its really gentle (unlike the paddle brush I use which hurts the super sensitive part of my scalp near my hairline), and it smoothes my hair out. I think its esp good at oil redistribution, which is important for me bc I only wash my hair 1-2 x a week.

Also: bc its so gentle yet massaging, its a good brush for someone else to.use on my hair (i make my husband brush my hair a lot).

Oh And they supposedly last forever.

I feel like they're best for coarse wavy thick hair? Maybe I'm wrong but for some reason that's always the impression that I've had.

They are good for any hair! i mean, tbh they are not reallu worth over 100 bucks, i would never buy one for myself, but it was a nice gift.
