At least the length-of-bangs problem will fix itself pretty fast. I hate it though when you specifically ask for something, and feel good for remembering to ask (I often forget what I was going to mention), and then your request is ignored.

Any product recs for defining messy short hair? Can't remember what I used to use.

Spray wax! Or salt water stuff.

I was a big fan of Aveda's "grooming wax" but the men's version. A little bit goes a long way, and if your hair is fine (like yours and mine) it adds a little bulk that makes putting it into place a little easier.

You hardly need any and it works really well on his hair. I nick it sometimes but my hair is fairly straight and chin-length so it doesn't do much

It's supposed to smell like apples, I believe? I find the scent to be pretty gross but it doesn't stick around and you don't have to use very much, mine is still half full and I've been using it for about two years.

Nice! What kind of short? This will presumably highlight your eyes, which are already highlighted by ridiculously good taste in specs.

It's a little longer than yours and goes off to the side instead of long bangs in front (my hair is too thick to do that)

They really suit you - they make me want to ditch the contacts at least some of the time and get a decent pair of specs. A+ accessorizing. I'm sure the new pair will be well-chosen too.

I have sumo tech and like it but there's a spray wax that I have that I like better though I'm a little afraid it may have been discontinued.

Anyway, I went a little lighter and shorter in the back. I like it - I just need to style it myself tomorrow before loving it, I think:

I'm still getting used to the cut and trying to make it messy/choppy looking with the volume in the choppiness rather than on top and at the back. Some days I don't like it at all and other days when I get the choppiness right I like it a lot. So, everybody otm. Also, my God, it's so, so great not to have to iron my damn hair every morning.

I was looking at all my old photo albums from 1998-2004ish and I notice I used to always have short hair. Always! And then I remembered - back then, in order to identify yourself as counter culture or whatever (sounds dorky, but you know what I mean), you HAD to have short hair. Or something. It looks really awesome in all the old pics and now I am tempted to chop.

i've always had shortish hair because that's my only option. in fact, i have an appt tonight and i don't know what to do. same or try something else? there really aren't that many options.

also hII i can't advise you to chop it because if i had hair like yours i would be flaunting it like ann romney's horse doing that weird horse dance; however, it's your head and you should do whatever you want why because it's your head.

pretty sure i am going to stick with a trim to the 70s natural man/borderline glam dude cut because i don't want to deal with doing anything more than that. i could do worse than looking like a long lost member of BÖC, right? i think it was a bad idea to have a dentist's appt and a hair appt on the same day.

i have had all of these haircuts btw -- for real -- my hair has not been blonde, but I've had all of those haircuts over the years. i really do not have a lot of options, so I cycle through the old ones until i can handle looking at my face again. wish i didn't feel this way about it, but here i am.

But all of those are really nice haircuts!! I had long hair for 10 years and it wasn't half as intersting as any of those. I mean I realize I say this from the position of privilege from your point of view but this is kind of one of those grass/greener areas.

Also I honestly think that your eyes are phenomenal and so any haircut that draws attention to them can't help but win things.

I hear you, and I thank you for trying to encourage me, but I'm afraid I can't really be consoled here! I need hair acceptance therapy or something. There is absolutely NO WAY I am going back to the pixie again. Not ever. It was not to my liking. You know how it feels when you wear something super uncomfortable? Imagine wearing that every single hour of every single day. I don't think my mind can be changed here.

Seconding io on the eyes. I am notoriously terrible at picking cuts (and clothes!) for me or for others because I am no good at visualizing how things will look, but anything that makes your eyes stand out can't really fail.

Salt spray!! Why didn't I think of that? Beach hair is the best. I just made a homemade version based on instructions I found online, and I can't wait to try it. (I used salt, water, and a little jojoba oil. Might add a drop of wax or regular hair gel if necessary.)
