a bit of volume, bangs etc will help with that if yr self conscious.

I totally get the bigger body-->bigger hair thing. Primary reason why I went long; was starting to look like a pinhead I think.

But I am kind of a giant to begin with, whereas you are petite, so go for short for sure!!!

Yeah I am a giant too and sort of worry about the same sometimes but I don't think it's actually that much of an issue for most people. Plus, I feel super weird with hair past my chin.

As a fat woman who has had very short hair (and who will probably have very short hair again when summer rolls around (I'm tired of long hair but promised myself I'd give it until next summer just for fun)), it's more about the shape of your face than the size of your head/body. The one thing I dislike about short hair is the upkeep. I just got off the phone booking an apt for Thursday because I need a trim already. I guess I just have tons of hair and it grows pretty fast but this whole thing is looking a lot bushier than I'd like right now.

I think you will look fabulous with short hair, R! Miranda loves a good short cut too. One thing I would caution is she sometimes can go a touch shorter than I ask, so if you show her a picture say "a little longer than this" if you're nervous :)

i prefer my hair short because it is thick and wavy but in a way that makes long hair a bit of a chore to maintain. i've done really short pixie cuts before, when i was in my 20s, but i don't think they're quite me, plus i have cowlicks going on in the back, so my hair when super short doesn't stay down back there but sticks out and needs more product than i'm willing to invest in, lol... the way around that with my current short haircut, so my hairdresser has figured out, is to shave a couple of inches back there and on the sides and let hair fall over that.

i am seriously tempted to go fully asymmetrical and have one side and the back shaved and leave the top and other side long and wavy
but it is getting pretty cold out for that! i don't know if i'm into doubling up on the toques just for the sake of my hair fashion...

My hair is always super fluffy and poofy when it's short, but I just don't wash it very often and let my own filth be my styling product.

I am also thinking of cutting my hair pretty short. I agree that longer hair often goes better with being tall, but when mine is longer it's totally flat and doesn't really suit my face! Somewhat concerned about looking like a boy though.

Wow, thanks! I seriously feel like a baggy crone at the moment so maybe I can recapture the chipmunk of yesteryear with a shorter do! Somewhere or other up on this thing rrrobyn said something about *feeling* pretty - that's what I need right now. Also, carl otm re face shape being the key thing.

For the first time, since I was a kid, I have actual BANGS. Not long side swept faux bangs, but actual blunt cut bangs.

Also, if I hadn't mentioned it yet, she's happy to do free bang touchups in between cuts. I remember her being disgusted that the fact that my previous hairdresser wouldn't!

Side bits need to grow out more and get more wispy, or something! Also, she blowdried the back massive - I have just hand-squashed it.

i find that it takes a couple of days to get used to a shorter cut - not sure whether that's me getting used to it or the so-called "your hair will settle into it" thing - bit of both?

Hahaha I always squash it down too, she loves giving volume! I think it is really cute & will grow out in a lovely way, you probably do just need to get used to it! I'm glad you liked her, I agree her place has such a nice, welcoming vibe.

I feel like it needs more volume! My impulse is to give you either more rounded volume or else less overall length and go choppier. (I am always trying to make my hair choppy but it has too much natural bounce and turns into a bubble head if not rigidly controlled.)
