i used a youtube tutorial for the first time last night while I was trying out my halloween Ace Frehley face

it was p helpful for getting the design & some techniques figured out but jeeez louise:

- if you are demonstrating a design for lips, it's a good idea to show them ON CAMERA WHERE I CAN SEE THEM

-oh you're going away & completing part of the look& coming back? fuck you. why even do the tutorial.

- no, i will not be setting the white face makeup with *white eyeshadow* O_o

the chick sounded so bored by the whole undertaking, it was v weird! out of curosity I looked up her other vids: she has a ton, 50% of them are Kim Kardashian looks. I was all, she has more than one?!

I need to revisit FFM's depotting posts on this thread. I've got three eyeshadow palettes that I've had long enough to know that I'm only going to use a few of the colors in each and I'm running out of room in my makeup box.

It's pretty toxic since I had to melt plastic to depot them in some cases.. but there are tutorials on Youtube! (All hail the mighty Youtube.)

We hired a dude to work in the new division I am transitioning in, who is an incredible makeup artist. He told me yesterday I should consider modelling because I have such flawless skin! (HAH. I like my skin, but I am no model.) I told him I have flawless skin on each of my six double chins and he said he will help me fix that. YAY. Expect me to be full drag by 2014.

I actually decided to write today about sunscreen, after some illuminating research last week on SPF coverage. Basically after getting sun damage this summer (and I NEVER GO OUTSIDE?!) I have plugged the ingredients of my everyday SPF 30 sunscreen into an ingredient analyzer and discovered it actually is only about as effective as SPF 20 or so.

I am v interested on your findings.

It's pretty neat, homoII! Sure beats the seven previous years I spent slogging it out in the security industry. I've gone from 'Mom's old rejects & Cover Girl on sale' to stockpiles of false lashes and having to depot to keep my eyeshadows accessible. Hah!

Interesting about the SPF! I always just trust the number on the bottle.. I await the post!

oh - and my husband and I are going to whip up lazy Lucy & Ricky Ricardo costumes for Halloween so tonight I am going to experiment with Youtube tutorials for doing her hair (mine is way too long so will be wonky) and makeup. Eyebrows and lips ahoy!

I experimented with this eyebrow wax I'd never used in a Smashb0x pallette I have - pretty easy to manipulate! I hope I can master victory rolls with my thin, lame hair. Ah well. Hairspray and hair rats FTW!

It's clear wax.. I have this huge pallette that comes with six different browns for eyebrows, and I use that every day to fill mine in.. but I used the wax last night to 'extend' the brows, which was kind of neat (eyeshadow on top of the wax.) My brows are sparse and I always felt like it could use just a couple more millimeters in the center of my face, but I simply can't get more than a couple of random hairs to grow there!

I'm going to try to blank out my own eyebrows then paint a new brow shape with the wax for 'Lucy' brows, get that fun exagerrated arch.

FFM you can use an elmer's glue stick to get your eyebrows sealed up. thats an old drag trick.

use the one that is purple but then turns clear. then put concealer over it.

who above said they needed occasion foundation? ENBB? Don't bother buying something as expensive as EL - buy Graftobian or Ben Nye HD foundation at a makeup artist supply store. Like $9 and its wonderful for night + photos. Not at all ideal for everyday as its thick as shit. I was reminded of this tidbit as I hauled out my Graftobian HD foundation for halloween tonight.

5 hours into halloween makeup and I *don't* want to tear my face off!!

discovering that I could set each section of makeup with talc-free babypowder was a gamechanger (also priming helped quite a bit too, I think). but somehow setting it with the powder has made the makeup way less itchy, and it still feels very light on my face. I'm really stoked, becuase I was worried that I would be miserable and/or have a bad reaction to the facepaint. (I even packced my makeup remover just in case I had to emergency scrub).

Bit of a feather in my cap too - a group of coworkers did Day of the Dead makeup (pic on the Halloween costume thread, check it out they look awesome) A friend of mine did all 6 faces. She did an AMAZING job but now they;re all having a hard time keeping it, because it wasn't set and it's starting to smear and itch. She asked me how come mine wasn't cracked or smeared and I told her the babypowder secret. Space Ace to the rescue!

lol my coworker made himself into a jack o lantern -- but he ended up putting a small face on his pot belly. he tried a big face but said he felt weird with big triangles on his man boobs, lol.

Haha, feeling' the google maps man idea, but the dress is poss a little too hoochie for that. I think I'm just going to wear my orange dress with black tights and do a really dark smoky eye and just be Halloweenish.
