It's really only AGL on people with extremely thin legs but I tend to think that's true of tight/skinny jeans in general. They're just not flattering on most people.

Hm, I think there's a sweet spot for them and most people don't try enough styles to find their best length and taper, but maybe it just goes with my look/schtick.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:21 (thirteen years ago)
most people don't try enough styles to find their best length and taper
That might be true. I definitely think they're one of the harder styles to wear so that getting a really good fit would be important and most people probably don't have the time/inclination to do that and just wind up with badly fitting jeans. I've definitely never found any that flatter me but I also get impatient and give up easily when it comes to trying on clothes.
― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:24 (thirteen years ago)
My legs are so much thinner than my beer belly. I need Gap to come up with an alcoholic edition to their Lean & Long line. Le sigh.

I wear jeans all the time. I find that a slight bootleg is the most flattering for me because of my big ole booty, and a high waist gives me a good shape. I have to go with fairly fitted jeans though...anything too baggy and they just look kinda bad

i have moccassins and i love them! viva minnetonka! they're like little slippers. i wear them with casual clothes or when i am feeling like being very comfortable.
― these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:43 (thirteen years ago)
I almost bought a pair of purple Minnetonka moccasins from the Saks outlet last year...god they were lovely
Yeah I don't think much styling is needed? Just kinda casual! easy breezy beautiful moccasin girl
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:45 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, they're Minnetonkas. Pretty excited about them tbh.
― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 20:11 (thirteen years ago)
Just wear them with whatever! Mine are grey with little beaded bird.

Have you tried any of the Cole Haan heels, carl? Since he did that whole nike thing I've heard p good things from my heel-wearing friends about how comfortable they are
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 11 October 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)
though they're pretty $$$

High-heeled boots and shoes with laces or straps are like 300% more wearable ime than pumps or open shoes.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Thursday, 11 October 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)
yep, I have found the most comfortable heels i have are usually t-straps or mary janes

PS I have a pair of wedges v similar to those but the soles are even worse, they're WOOD, and the uppers are red patent. Still, it is past the middle of October, find some pride.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)
lolalso otm what is this club med? no
― these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:33 (thirteen years ago)
I have a pair of wedges are similar to those red ones but in green and turquoise. They are less uncomfortable than heels. But they are definitely summer shoes.
― tokyo rosemary, Saturday, 20 October 2012 20:40 (thirteen years ago)
I wish I could find a pair of platform sandals with a wider heel. I hate all these narrow heels!

omfg @ those Zanotti's

i FINALLY got my new boots (infinity shoes took 4 weeks to ship!!!!!!): the india wedge boot and the collette ankle boot i mention here
they are way nicer IRL, the india boot is what i've been searching for forever and they are SO COMFORTABLE - like crazy comfy. i was also impressed that the collette boots come with little replacement pads for the bottom of the heels.

thinking about these: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/miz-mooz-bailey-boot/3191897
― ljubljana, Saturday, 3 November 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)
Yes, love them. I have a pair of red Miz Mooz that I love but are slightly small. Has anyone had any success having shoes stretched by a cobbler before?
― ENBB, Saturday, 3 November 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)
Not recently, but in the UK in the past I have done. Very tiny difference, though. Also, I could swear my feet have grown a bit in the last 5 years o_0
― ljubljana, Saturday, 3 November 2012 17:28 (thirteen years ago)
They're really cute so I think I'll give it a shot but it doesn't work i'll come back and see if anyone wants them. :)
― ENBB, Saturday, 3 November 2012 20:17 (thirteen years ago)
steviee deux, those shoes are great! ya lucky punk.
― Spectrum, Saturday, 3 November 2012 20:29 (thirteen years ago)
My neighbor showed me a really nice pair of I think Cole Haan boots that she got as a gift but were too narrow. They didn't stretch them, they actually sewed in matching colors of leather to add to the width. Nice work. Place in Queens that she likes. This is obv not an answer unless you have a good full-service cobbler around but it could save that pair of boots you just LOVE.

Got these for the Canadian winter, now for some reason wondering if I did the right thing. Too casual to go with enough stuff? http://www.zappos.com/blondo-marcia-black-santa-fe.
Got a week or so to decide whether to return them.
― ljubljana, Saturday, 17 November 2012 22:36 (thirteen years ago)
Woah wait, Zappos is delivering here again? Hallelujah! I think those are really nice but I am a black boot addict. If we get a slushy winter you're going to want some Sorels (or at least I love 'em.. Cozy.)
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Saturday, 17 November 2012 22:42 (thirteen years ago)
they have a pretty sleek sole (instead of heavy/chunky tread) so they should be pretty wearable with dresses/skirts, i think?
― just1n3, Saturday, 17 November 2012 22:42 (thirteen years ago)
I like that they are future-boots, but the shape of the heel/wedge isn't a look that I go with, prob b/c I think it's not in proportion for me, but could be for someone else. I would see if they can be waterproofed, maybe?
― grossly incorrect register (in orbit), Saturday, 17 November 2012 22:49 (thirteen years ago)
FFM, I bought them in an actual store! Sorry to disappoint...
J - yeah, that aspect of them is good. I guess they're just not 'sleek', a bit athletic in the sole.
Orbit, they're supposed to be waterproof but also I have this spray (of the type that shoe stores flog all the time). Is it possible to get boots permanently waterproofed somehow?
― ljubljana, Saturday, 17 November 2012 22:51 (thirteen years ago)
Whoa, FFM, I didn't know about Sorel! Now these are serious: http://www.sorelfootwear.ca/Women%E2%80%99s-Tofino%E2%84%A2-Boot/LL1846,en_CA,pd.html
― ljubljana, Saturday, 17 November 2012 22:54 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, I love the Sorels for the walk to the bus when people haven't shovelled yet! These are similar to mine: http://www.shoptoit.ca/images/detail/82719000/82719779.jpg
