oh Fryespaws
they break my heart every year with boots I would kill for that I can never afford
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 18:04 (thirteen years ago)
god they are bangin
Fuck yeah they are.

I have motorcycle boots with a low Cuban heel but they're a little too cash for some things. Then I have tight, high-heeled Italian booties that are for dress-up, but I can't wear them all day and walk around much. This new Frye pair are the perfect mid-point while also being BAD-ASS and I want them.

the leather looks really soft too
oh god yeah I covet

I just got some moccasins. I'm assuming I can make them work somehow but I'm a little nervous. Excited but unsure how to style them.

Ans: Don't.

what kind of skirt would work with those frye boots? I wear mostly pencil and other tight skirts (+ tights in winter) and I could never come up with a suitable (IMO) look to go with my similar height boots. I am a knee high or ankle low girl. as a result I only wear them under pants, which seems like a waste :( something about the way they weren't close against my leg made them feel weird with skirts & tights but I might just be neurotic about style (no I know I am: all my Grandma's rules still torment me, and even SHE is over them). I want to wear that type with a skirt! I just don't know what skirt it is.
I got these boots which are supposed to be above the knee but they only come up to just under my knee, heh. ah well. http://distilleryimage7.s3.amazonaws.com/1f1bc16e12f911e29be31231381b5339_7.jpghttp://lghttp.15559.nexcesscdn.net/807ACF/magento/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800x800/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/9/0/906f2ba0-231d-47b5-8251-463e0ca0c5cc_MSC_3749.jpeg
not leather, but shoe shopping has been so hopeless lately I'm happy to just find a damn boot. the only wearable pair I owned had a kitten heel - not terrible, but I find all heels so uncomfortable lately /old lady

I plan on wearing them w really tapered jeans, normal length and also maybe my ankle ones. I don't have any other kind of jeans. Skirts would have to be pretty short on me to balance out an ankle boot so I would say, short stretchy ones with really heavy tights.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)
ah, this all makes sense. I don't really wear jeans but those are good options! I will wish a $300 frye's gift card* windfall on you!
*so that you cannot justify using the money to pay any bills/savings/etc!
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:00 (thirteen years ago)
Awww, haha. Thank you. I definitely don't have the money, but maybe I should actually file for my tax return....

wow, rude
― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)
I like the 'folding up narrow leg jeans to just above the boot' look... though the one time I did it I realized half way through the day that Bruce Springsteen did it and then I felt v conflicted lol. I mean, I love him...but I don't want to dress like him!
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:08 (thirteen years ago)
It's really only AGL on people with extremely thin legs but I tend to think that's true of tight/skinny jeans in general. They're just not flattering on most people.
― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)
Hm, I think there's a sweet spot for them and most people don't try enough styles to find their best length and taper, but maybe it just goes with my look/schtick.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:21 (thirteen years ago)
most people don't try enough styles to find their best length and taper
That might be true. I definitely think they're one of the harder styles to wear so that getting a really good fit would be important and most people probably don't have the time/inclination to do that and just wind up with badly fitting jeans. I've definitely never found any that flatter me but I also get impatient and give up easily when it comes to trying on clothes.
― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:24 (thirteen years ago)
My legs are so much thinner than my beer belly. I need Gap to come up with an alcoholic edition to their Lean & Long line. Le sigh.
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:26 (thirteen years ago)
I wear jeans all the time. I find that a slight bootleg is the most flattering for me because of my big ole booty, and a high waist gives me a good shape. I have to go with fairly fitted jeans though...anything too baggy and they just look kinda bad
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:29 (thirteen years ago)
i have moccassins and i love them! viva minnetonka! they're like little slippers. i wear them with casual clothes or when i am feeling like being very comfortable.
― these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:43 (thirteen years ago)
I almost bought a pair of purple Minnetonka moccasins from the Saks outlet last year...god they were lovely
Yeah I don't think much styling is needed? Just kinda casual! easy breezy beautiful moccasin girl
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 19:45 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, they're Minnetonkas. Pretty excited about them tbh.

Have you tried any of the Cole Haan heels, carl? Since he did that whole nike thing I've heard p good things from my heel-wearing friends about how comfortable they are

High-heeled boots and shoes with laces or straps are like 300% more wearable ime than pumps or open shoes.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Thursday, 11 October 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)
yep, I have found the most comfortable heels i have are usually t-straps or mary janes

PS I have a pair of wedges v similar to those but the soles are even worse, they're WOOD, and the uppers are red patent. Still, it is past the middle of October, find some pride.

I have a pair of wedges are similar to those red ones but in green and turquoise. They are less uncomfortable than heels. But they are definitely summer shoes.

I wish I could find a pair of platform sandals with a wider heel. I hate all these narrow heels!

i FINALLY got my new boots (infinity shoes took 4 weeks to ship!!!!!!): the india wedge boot and the collette ankle boot i mention here
they are way nicer IRL, the india boot is what i've been searching for forever and they are SO COMFORTABLE - like crazy comfy. i was also impressed that the collette boots come with little replacement pads for the bottom of the heels.

Yes, love them. I have a pair of red Miz Mooz that I love but are slightly small. Has anyone had any success having shoes stretched by a cobbler before?
