They should really have some measure of heel slope as part of shoe size, which imo is more useful that heel height.

I have three pairs of heels by Miz Mooz that are a nice height (in your range), and comfy, and made well. And just good luck on sales w/them (one pair I found at a thrift store).

I adore Miz Mooz for exactly that heel height reason.

VP, I hope you love your pennyloafers!!! Mine are only about a year old but I've cracked the soles at the hinge and worn through all the leather under the ball of the foot--they need complete resoling already, and they give me horrible pains in my arches to wear. ;__; Will not get them again. So sad. Your feet are nothing like mine so they'll probably be perfect for you.

Riddle me this: why are Clarks shoes SO CUTE in the UK but DOWDY in the US? In England they had adorable heels and mary janes and t-straps and I am looking at the US site and it's a sea of beige and brown.

It is weirding me out that chunky stacked heels seem to be back now.

I paid £40 for a pair of Clarks shoes which look no different from your cheapo black ballet flats except they are proper leather (I think) and are cut very slightly differently so they actually fit me. All other ballet shoes ever seem to be cut from the same template and there's not enough shoe covering my foot and my foot falls out of them. Some barely cover the first knuckle of my big toe! Oh also the sole is all chunky and rubbery (not noticeably though) so they should last a little while.

I realized the other day that I've had the one pair of Saucony's for 7 years. I have newer sneakers too but those are still my fave.

I got a great pair of Nike cross-trainy things years ago at their outlet, and they are the most comfortable sneakers I've ever had. I try not to wear them too much these days bc they're starting to fall apart a little bit and I don't want to replace them :(

the adidas look sort of off for some reason, i think they trimmed the outsoles down to make them look "sleek" and it makes them look too metrosexual

they end up look like driving slippers because the outsole gets so skinny at the top

those new balances were on the cover of "sneaker freaker" magazine tho and now fetch like $250 at auction, don't think it will be happening

Not shoes, but socks: where can I buy nicely made but not super expensive dress-ish socks? UNIQLO is kind of the best but they're too far away, and H&M has nice designs but I have about 6 pairs of their socks (all less than a year old) that are all at the point of needing to be thrown away, not fucking dealing w/ this shit anymore, I WANT TO INVEST IN WELL MADE SOCKS THAT LOOK COOL WHERE HOW DO I DO THIS

This is really lame but I could not find decent men's socks in the US high street stores that weren't like Tommy Hilfiger or something! I had to order some from Next!
(I buy my o/h bulk packs of socks for Christmas kind of as this rubbish longrunning joke but also kind of because it's useful, but they have to be nice cottony ones that aren't plain black and have nice designs. Got a bunch of black/various colour houndstooth ones which were super soft last time.)
