Damn! I love them.
I have some granny boots with that curvy heel – buckles instead of laces. I mostly wear them around the house playing dress up.

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:42 (thirteen years ago)

no way dude, I love those first two black pairs (brown shoes don't do it for me)

guh if I wasn't being so good about not spending money I would put those babies on my feetses

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:43 (thirteen years ago)

i got the ones with the western heel for maximum wearability -- the curvy heel is appealing to me, but i can't see myself having the wardrobe to wear it all the time
and if i am going to spend on these shoes they have to go with pants, be ok for work, etc.

i think i can wear these white boots to work under the right (modest) circumstances, right? i don't know why not.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:44 (thirteen years ago)

I love the great quantity of tiny eyelets.
White boots totally work for the workplace, says I, as long as they wouldn't make you feel self-conscious.

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:45 (thirteen years ago)

yeah I think interesting shoes make workwear a little less dull

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:46 (thirteen years ago)

totally. i dress pretty conservatively for work, but not so conservatively that i can't find a way to work these boots into the mix
if not, i have like a zillion other pairs

too many shoes tbrr

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:46 (thirteen years ago)

Crabbits, do u have a photo of your Fluevogs?

I still have a pair of their Mary Janes that I wear a lot, I love their shoes/boots so much

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:47 (thirteen years ago)

When I was student teaching, my cooperating teacher once asked, 'how many pairs of black boots DO you own?'
good eye on her
the answer is one greater today
Nothing makes me feel more on my game than secretly wearing some badass and slightly eccentric shoes w/the more boring professional clothes.

amen and aleluia

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:49 (thirteen years ago)

i have 5 pairs of black boots at last count

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:49 (thirteen years ago)

I wore my new Justin engineer boots to work today with my workclothes and tbh I felt like kind of a badass

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

These are the boots I got today

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg337/scaled.php?server=337&filename=img2950my.jpg&res=landing

this photo was hard to take
I like that they don't give me too baggy of ankles
They fit my calves perfectly
The little harness at the ankle is removable
I could wear them to work under pants but the Mormon in me suggests they are too fetishy/R. Crumb girl to wear with a skirt (and the age group I work with)

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

I mean Condi wore knee high boots to work but she also got a ton of shit for it

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:56 (thirteen years ago)

I like having clothes that are just for fun too

i love those granny boots!!!

i tried these on recently, totally loved them, and they are a comfort brand but i guess i just can't wear anything beyond a 2" heel?? like, they were comfy everywhere, nice and roomy but within seconds the ball of my foot had shooting pains :( :( i would have just gotten them anyway but they're way too pricey for a "might not actually ever wear these"-kind of shoe

just1n3, Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:59 (thirteen years ago)

i really like those boots, abbott - would wear except knee high boots make me self conscious about my knees

just1n3, Thursday, 20 September 2012 02:59 (thirteen years ago)

i also don't like the tan tread-sole on those kork-ease mary janes - i feel like it limits their wearability as a more formal-but-fun shoe

just1n3, Thursday, 20 September 2012 03:00 (thirteen years ago)

They should really have some measure of heel slope as part of shoe size, which imo is more useful that heel height.

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Thursday, 20 September 2012 03:01 (thirteen years ago)

i wish there was a better selection of 2" heels out there - i feel like it's all flats-1" or 3"-5"

just1n3, Thursday, 20 September 2012 03:02 (thirteen years ago)

I have three pairs of heels by Miz Mooz that are a nice height (in your range), and comfy, and made well. And just good luck on sales w/them (one pair I found at a thrift store).

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Thursday, 20 September 2012 03:06 (thirteen years ago)

I adore Miz Mooz for exactly that heel height reason.

ljubljana, Thursday, 20 September 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)

A+ boots, Abs.

kate78, Thursday, 20 September 2012 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

Those are stunners!

Unfortunately (for boot wearing) summer has persisted in Seattle, but I do strut around the house in them an awful lot.

I have a pair of bass penny loafers in the mail to me and am now searching for the perfect Oxford. Also I dearly want a black pair of lace-up vans.

Virginia Plain, Monday, 24 September 2012 01:35 (thirteen years ago)

abbs you were right about miz mooz - i did some intense online window shopping with my friend on friday night, and i found a TON of shoes from them that i love. even my perfect boots! but they only seem to be available online at one store (in new york) and i'll have to risk $20 shipping to try them.

and also these in black

Oh I really like the ones you posted first by mistake with the buttons. So cute!

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 13:28 (thirteen years ago)

I have good luck finding that brand at Nordstrom Rack but it's a game of chance going there, as you know.
Love those Silas boots! yowsers

The Most Typical and Popular Girl Rider (Crabbits), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 13:59 (thirteen years ago)

VP, I hope you love your pennyloafers!!! Mine are only about a year old but I've cracked the soles at the hinge and worn through all the leather under the ball of the foot--they need complete resoling already, and they give me horrible pains in my arches to wear. ;__; Will not get them again. So sad. Your feet are nothing like mine so they'll probably be perfect for you.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 14:03 (thirteen years ago)

I do like the silas ones (with buttons), but the other tobacco ones have a lower heel, making them preferable

just1n3, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 14:46 (thirteen years ago)

Riddle me this: why are Clarks shoes SO CUTE in the UK but DOWDY in the US? In England they had adorable heels and mary janes and t-straps and I am looking at the US site and it's a sea of beige and brown.

homosexual II, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 01:33 (thirteen years ago)

clarks originals?

the late great, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 02:05 (thirteen years ago)

The "Indigo" line for which one of my friend designs is supposed to be their young US line afaik.

It is weirding me out that chunky stacked heels seem to be back now.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 02:16 (thirteen years ago)

I paid £40 for a pair of Clarks shoes which look no different from your cheapo black ballet flats except they are proper leather (I think) and are cut very slightly differently so they actually fit me. All other ballet shoes ever seem to be cut from the same template and there's not enough shoe covering my foot and my foot falls out of them. Some barely cover the first knuckle of my big toe! Oh also the sole is all chunky and rubbery (not noticeably though) so they should last a little while.

I'm getting frustrated again with sneaker shopping, but I like the nocturnal vibe of these!

yow! don't do it.

thinking of a no new sneakers resolution

the late great, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:24 (thirteen years ago)

I realized the other day that I've had the one pair of Saucony's for 7 years. I have newer sneakers too but those are still my fave.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

I got a great pair of Nike cross-trainy things years ago at their outlet, and they are the most comfortable sneakers I've ever had. I try not to wear them too much these days bc they're starting to fall apart a little bit and I don't want to replace them :(

I like those better than the Adidads tbh

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

me too!

the adidas look sort of off for some reason, i think they trimmed the outsoles down to make them look "sleek" and it makes them look too metrosexual
