kinder, Monday, 10 September 2012 18:04 (thirteen years ago)

you know what? i have never lined my waterline!
"waterline" also seems like a weird word for it. i feel like it would make my eyes look smaller?

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:04 (thirteen years ago)

Hello! I haven't caught up yet because I've been away all day but I just had a pretty awesome exchange with my trainee whose jaw literally dropped when I told her how old I am. She thought I was 25! Direct quote "You look amazing!". I mean, I mostly don't have a problem with aging and I am proud of my nearly 35 year old self but it was still pretty sweet to be mistaken as an entire decade younger than I am.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

that's nice!

36 is when the shit really goes down, just sayin/warnin

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

In more topical err topics, I never line my bottom lash line because it always makes me feel like I'm wearing too much make-up. I actually rarely even use mascara on the bottom for the same reason. I will try it out the next time I do nighttime make-up.

x-post - Oh no! Don't say that! :(

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:10 (thirteen years ago)

btw if you're any indication then I beg to differ, lady

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:10 (thirteen years ago)

haha, aw, thanks. though i do feel like it was actually on my 36th birthday that i found my first grey hair and noticed wrinkles
but yes, i am kinda joking, obv. it's all relative! everyone has different skin that ages differently!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

lol rrrobyn must be trolling ENBB there. You both look so young and fresh faced! All the same, that's awesome, E!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

a guy at work asked me if I was old enough to drink a few years back, which was like O_O

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:17 (thirteen years ago)

people in their late-40s (and up) refer to me as a "young person" pretty often and i am like, okay... i'm interested to see how long it will take before that stops.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

i do think of myself as young still, but also not-young

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:21 (thirteen years ago)

x-post Yeah, me too. My mom always looked at least aruond 10 years younger than she was until she hit 70 so hopefully I'll follow suit and be OK for a good while. I do stay out of the sun (or wear sunscreen when in it) but until very recently I was a smoker. I think that a lot of it is down to genetics.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

I just found my first grey hair. RS tried to convince me it was just very blond but grey hairs have a very specific texture. I admired his trying to humor me though.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

Young at heart helps too :)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:24 (thirteen years ago)

Oh, absolutely.

Mr Veg plucked my first gray hair when I was leaning down to get something at the grocery store.
*Gleefully* plucked. And waved it in my face :)
Payback for me teasing him about his, lol

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:25 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i'm interested in knowing the day i will no longer be asked for ID. idk about the US but in NZ cashiers etc. are told to ID anyone who looks under 25.

just1n3, Monday, 10 September 2012 18:27 (thirteen years ago)

My dad got IDed buying wine in VT last month as they have a state-wide law requiring ID of all purchasers there now.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:28 (thirteen years ago)

He was like are you shitting me? I'm almost 70!

I get carded so rarely that it takes me by total surprise when it happens, and sometimes I can't remember where in my wallet I am keeping my drivers' license these days.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 19:48 (thirteen years ago)

i never get carded but i also never go anywhere new

the most astonishing writer on ilx (roxymuzak), Monday, 10 September 2012 19:51 (thirteen years ago)

Hey, quick out-of-place question: Does anyone remember where we talked about those blackhead removal tools? I'm ordering some stuff and I might get one of those but I think there were specific recommendations.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 20:28 (thirteen years ago)

Skincare thread maybe? I don't know, though.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 20:30 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I tried. Can't find. Maybe someone else will remember.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

maybe in here? Your Grooming Arsenal

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 10 September 2012 21:02 (thirteen years ago)

No. It was sometime in the last few months, maybe 6 mos at the most. I tried some searches but so far nada.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 21:16 (thirteen years ago)

i remember talk of that tool but not specifics. a google for it + reviews might yield non-ilx answers anyway (obv not the best answers)

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 22:55 (thirteen years ago)

So! I put eyeliner on my waterline!
using MAC graphblack technakohl liner. it looks dramatic! but better than when i line the outside of my lower lid, which i hardly ever do because i feel like it makes my eyes look smaller. but this is working better for me. it actually looks kind of badass.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 22:58 (thirteen years ago)

as i recall now, a friend who was taking a make-up course did line my waterline once. i just didn't pay enough attention.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 22:59 (thirteen years ago)

doing this also makes me wonder why i have been afraid of wearing contacts. that's just putting yr finger near yr eye. this is putting a pointed stick almost on yr eyeball.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 10 September 2012 23:09 (thirteen years ago)

I've tried waterline eyeliner several times and yeah it makes me eyes look way smaller.

kinder, Tuesday, 11 September 2012 12:09 (thirteen years ago)

Waterline makes your eyes look smaller unless you do it on the outer corner of your eye only.

Trick to get bigger looking eyes of course is WHITE eyeliner on the waterline.

I tend to do a lot of dark on the outer edger of my eye, then lots of light colors on the inside of my eye (near the nose).

I tend to... overuse all eye makeup. Last weekend I got carried away and tried to emulate Priscilla Presley's eye makeup from her wedding, but even I couldn't overdo it as much as she did.

homosexual II, Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:26 (thirteen years ago)

surm, Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

that is some amazing eye make-up!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, i only did less than half of my waterline (outside edge). i have a white-ish eyeliner that i always forget to use! but it totally works, brightens things up.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:31 (thirteen years ago)

that's pretty damn priscilla, homo! nice!!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

They make another pinkish-whitish pencil from your eyes, but I just use the High Brow for my browns and dotted on the inside corners of my eyeballs.

surm, Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:47 (thirteen years ago)

Benefit is so great for enhancement products that look very natural if you happen to be the right skin tone (which I am).

carl agatha, Tuesday, 11 September 2012 21:51 (thirteen years ago)

use the High Brow for my browns

lolllllllll that is one of my favorite and most frequent typos.
