I'm lazy about my toes but I tend to do my nail polish every Sunday too :) I bought some tiny stickers today with the hopes of using them as fun decals. Some are Bat signals! I also bought a few liner ones this week so this weekend's result should be fun.

Aww sorry for the disappoint on the nails dudes. Yeah I found those on pintrest which is a great place for hair and nail ideas. Also, can I be in on this blog????

you guys.

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 14:42 (thirteen years ago)

the air conditioning was not on in my lobby this morning

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 14:42 (thirteen years ago)

i'm feeling a little upset.

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

I suspect that the AC was not on in my train car this morning, either. Three days in the 60s/low 70s and everybody acts like it's fucking winter.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 14:54 (thirteen years ago)

THANK YOU

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:01 (thirteen years ago)

i promptly put in a work request for it. i was like, it's 75 not 50. stop being fuckin cheap and put your AC back on.

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:01 (thirteen years ago)

anyway this has to do with my cosmetics bc i had a really good time with my makeup this morning and left the house feeling completely fresh-faced, til i was slapped with a no AC welcome to work

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:04 (thirteen years ago)

That is seriously the worst. I was just telling a coworker that I've turned into a eyelash tint addict because mascara just melts everywhere when it's hot.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:42 (thirteen years ago)

totally. on hot hot days i use clear

surm, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:45 (thirteen years ago)

Is eyelash tinting legal where you live? It's pretty amazing. I've already decided one of my posts for IFP-N: The Blog will be about eyelash tint because I am 100% certain my brow lady would be willing to take a picture of me with the dye on my lashes.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:48 (thirteen years ago)

I'm just about to re-order my dye that I use for eyebrows but is good for lashes too.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago)

Have you used it on your lashes before? Getting them dyed at the salon is kind of stressful and messy and I'm honestly afraid to do it at home by myself.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

I have but it really stings if/when it gets in my eyes and I have not been that successful at keeping it out but that's partly because I try to do one eye at a time so I can open the other one and still do stuff during the boring-as-fuck 15 minutes. If you have one or more people with you, you can at least TALK to each other for amusement, do both eyes at once and keep them squeezed shut, and avoid the pain.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:04 (thirteen years ago)

If you really squeeze your eyes shut, the lashes are going to get dye all over your under-eye area so you might want to put a bit of stationary tape or something under there to keep it off the skin? Tape is the first thing that occurred to me but I'm sure there are other options too.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:05 (thirteen years ago)

At the salon, they smear Vaseline around your eyes and stick these contoured pieces of paper underneath to prevent that.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 16:08 (thirteen years ago)

you guys this sounds awful!

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:11 (thirteen years ago)

Oh! Vaseline and a little tissue, that's perfect.

xp: Well, I only do my eyebrows for that reason. I don't find it awful, but it's noticeably inconvenient.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

I mean these are my natural brows:

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

they're light
use a pencil? that's what i do.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:17 (thirteen years ago)

We definitely need a post(s) about dying of eyebrows and eyelashes!!! Laurel your expression in that pic is cracking me up!

I had what I thought was a good idea for a post, but then I forgot it. Hopefully it will come back to me. I can always default to my somewhat extensive dry shampoo experience.

quincie, Monday, 10 September 2012 16:17 (thirteen years ago)

they're light = they are pretty and fair, meaning i do not share your repulsion for your eyebrows :)

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

I was never any good at pencil, couldn't find the right color, never liked the look on me. Plus dye is there even when I'm swimming, even after a shower, even if it rains, even when I first wake up, and I only have to think about it once ever 2-3 mos. The brow dyeing is nothing, it's easier than a face mask! The lash thing is more complicated.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:20 (thirteen years ago)

I have a colorless face. My lips aren't that red, my eyes are a muddy hazel, my brows are invisible, and my hair color isn't much different from my skin. That's just how it is. Luckily, cosmetics.

And I'm making that face because we are outside in a WHIPPING wind and sub-freezing temps wearing country maiden costumes w bare legs & arms, and performing on stage with feet so cold we haven't felt them in an hour.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

you do not have a colorless face! you have a fair complexion! it's not the same thing! this is like my friend who has claimed for the 20 years that i've known her that she has a pointy head. the things people tell themselves about their appearance are always surprising to me!

as for the dyeing, you know i'm not opposed to suffering for beauty (korean spa) i guess i just hate having people anywhere near/touching my face

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

accentuating beauty = i'll buy that
i just don't like hearing my friends talk about themselves in a negative way. it's a weird thing i have!

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:34 (thirteen years ago)

I'm a bit intrigued by the eyebrow dyeing too! Mine are not quite as light as Orbit's (you don't want your first name used anymore, right?) but I do fill them in with a 'darker' shade of brown everyday, which is actually the lightest of the brow shadows in this pallette I got.

Quasi related, just saw this picture on http://thebeautydepartment.com/ and it all made sense! I am no good with my bottom lashes. Wanted to share with anyone else as useless as I am at getting product on lower lashes (mine are teeny tiny on the bottom).

(I think that if I try this I will simply snag some off the edge of my mascara tube, no need to smear the brush anywhere to get at it!)

woah woah WOAH

just1n3, Monday, 10 September 2012 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

i always wondered how that look was achieved!!!

just1n3, Monday, 10 September 2012 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

I actually don't care if ppl use my name now and then, I just wanted things I said to be less google-able.

I like that bottom lash trick, it's more subtle than lining the bottom and it's not right in your eye like water-line products!

i just don't like hearing my friends talk about themselves in a negative way. it's a weird thing i have!

U smrt. But I don't hate my atonality, I just think it makes me look like a boy. A chubby boy. So I dye and line and try to get some sun. :)

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

xp I like that site because they often have some pretty great tips and tricks. I am going to rock those eyes and this hair tomorrow, I think: http://thebeautydepartment.com/2012/09/double-rope-braid-bun/

That's fair, L! It just feels so weird calling you Orbit all of a sudden, but I absolutely understand.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

In Orbit, please. ;) (There used to be another poster named "orbit," something I didn't remember until after I'd registered.)

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

I have a colorless face. My lips aren't that red, my eyes are a muddy hazel, my brows are invisible, and my hair color isn't much different from my skin.

I didn't use to, but as I've gotten older, I've gotten more colorless. I blew a coworker's mind this morning by telling her that my natural hair/eyelash color is a sort of washed out light brown for the hair, and almost blond for my lashes (that's why I like the lash tint). I use a pencil for my brows because they aren't as light, but eyebrow pencil is one of those things I use every time I leave the house, even if I don't wear any other makeup.

carl agatha, Monday, 10 September 2012 16:51 (thirteen years ago)

was it here that I read the tip about putting pencil in the waterline on your upper lashes?

I tried that this morning--maybe I just did it too much, since i felt like you couldn't really see it, but it totally smudges underneath my eye every time i close them. haha. maybe my eyes are not cut out for this kind of detail work.

rayuela, Monday, 10 September 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

i'm more colorless than i used to be too if it makes you guys feel better
really though, fixating on it (or thinking about it at all) just makes me feel like i am slipping back into a familiar old way of thinking that, for me, was kind of harmful. (i'm this, not that. i should be ____, not ______, my ____ should be this way, not the way it is)

sorry for getting all emotional/tmi

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Monday, 10 September 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)

xp - hah! No problem, In Orbit. :)

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 10 September 2012 17:16 (thirteen years ago)

xp No, no, that's what you should do, if that's how you feel. In a way, since this kind of talk has a profound effect on you and you're sensitized to it, you're sort of a canary in a coal mine--an early alert system that the tone is going self-critical and off track. My tendency is to be really flippant about self-criticism but often that lets it in the door disguised as a joke, which it turns out not to be.

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 17:17 (thirteen years ago)

It's kind of a tough line in a thread about how to change the way you look!

purveyor of generations (in orbit), Monday, 10 September 2012 17:18 (thirteen years ago)

rayuela: I have the same problem - striped black eyeballs! So pretty! :P I have not discovered a solution but I did read this today which may be something to try (or may be even MORE annoying and irritating!)
