Is it okay to say we can do more than just reviews? Tutorials, musings on beauty stuff in general, explanations of what a product is even for (still thinking of sunny's drawings of how to use highlighter), stash photos (like my stash of BALMSTAINS and JUST BITTEN).

Like, I'll try that black french manicure and it will be hilarious because I'm TERRIBLE at painting my nails. Or it will come out great and the post will be a triumph of the clumsy.

This sounds like my as yet unrealized most favourite beauty blog ever! So much of the stuff I see does seem to be created by and for Sephora Princesses, for lack of a better term.

I think it's safe to say that we can be the antithesis of the Sephora Princesses blog (that term definitely evokes a certain approach/aesthetic, so I think it works).

Hahahaha, busted. I used to do some makeup on the bus when my commute was 1.5 hrs each way but now I do it all at home, except my eyes if running late. I hated myself when I was a public makeupper. :(

The video was all lies! I only set THREE alarms too. And shower in the morning.

I could manage foundation on the train and eyeshadow if I was lazy and just doing one color...forget mascara/eyeliner though, I got blinded too many times

I went off nail polish cold-turkey all summer but yesterday's mani plus looking at polish blogs again is giving me THE BUG.

I am pretty strongly anti this. Touch ups are fine but I always think it's a little funny when people do a full face on the train/bus. I used to see this one lady put on everything except lotion on the bus! She would do foundation, concealer, everything!

some women are REALLY good at it, the liner is what gets me the most

I mean don't get me wrong, I have done it but only in a pinch and not in a long time. I get woken up around 6:30 and don't actually leave until 8 so I have plenty of time to get ready at home.

I could never do it on crowded public transport --- the train I took almost always emptied out by the 3rd or 4th inner city station, and I had 20 minutes in an almost empty carriage to work, so it was a lot easier to manage. But I haaaate ppl who do full face makeup on crowded trains. It's kinda gross, somehow?

Also I could never handle knowing that ppl were covertly judging my technique, haha

^^xp this! I used to have a constant fear people were looking at/judging me in all situations, so makeup doing was stressful. I got over it by dying my hair a ridiculous colour and embracing my otherness as a valid reason to be stared at. Going weirder made me feel less self conscious. Yay, psychology!

bus is usually pretty empty. Also I wash then moisturise in the morning then like to let that sit for 30 mins or so before doing make up and I don't have time to do that before leaving. I only do a bit of concealer and powder really, couple of blobs of liquid foundation maybe. I have like an hour commute so want to leave the house asap

Lipstick or whatever is fine but it's the ladies who are just sitting there smearing foundation all over the place and stuff like it's just no thing. I don't want to witness any smearing that early in the am.

I also clip my toenails, nbd

I feel like I take up enough space on public transit just existing, so also moving around to apply makeup would make me feel bad in a very specific way. Also, I have to make funny faces when I put on makeup and I don't want the word to see those faces!

x-post - Empty bus different story too. If there's really nobody there/looking then I would probably do it too.

I honestly don't know what I'd do if someone just kicked off their shoes and started clipping away on the bus. I mean besides die, of course.

x-post - There was one person who admitted to clipping their nails at work though I can't remember who. You're right though - it seems to be a universal no-no.

OH shit! Jeff saw someone BRUSHING HIS TEETH on the train a couple of weeks ago! He was wearing a bathrobe, too! (the tooth brusher, not Jeff.)

ha, my favourite co-worker called me up the other day to tell me that another co-worker had kicked off her shoes while they were talking and starting picking at her feet (keep in mind, they were both IN one of our stores while it was OPEN) and then started eating some food without washing her hands.

foundation I could never fathom doing on a train because there's always some left on my hands and I wash them before I go onto any other steps! but I'm one of those people who wash their hands a lot.

I sat next to a woman on the train this morning who was doing her makeup, which annoys me but I can cope, except that I swear it took her ten minutes to put on foundation. She just kept getting a teeny little bit out of the tube, and then rubbing it on her face, getting a teeny bit more, and rubbing it on her face, then a teeny bit more, and rubbing it on her face, and then a teeny bit more, and rubbing it on her face. I think it was more the repetitive nature of the motions than the actual make-upping that was making me batty but phew, I was on edge until she switched to eyeliner.
