Is it okay to say we can do more than just reviews? Tutorials, musings on beauty stuff in general, explanations of what a product is even for (still thinking of sunny's drawings of how to use highlighter), stash photos (like my stash of BALMSTAINS and JUST BITTEN).

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:27 (thirteen years ago)

yes! and product FAILS, etc

Guinea pig posts, kind of like how http://pintester.com/ tries out ridiculous things from Pinterest.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:31 (thirteen years ago)

Like, I'll try that black french manicure and it will be hilarious because I'm TERRIBLE at painting my nails. Or it will come out great and the post will be a triumph of the clumsy.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

This sounds like my as yet unrealized most favourite beauty blog ever! So much of the stuff I see does seem to be created by and for Sephora Princesses, for lack of a better term.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:33 (thirteen years ago)

Carl - of course! That's absolutely what I had in mind. All kinds of stuff.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:37 (thirteen years ago)

I think it's safe to say that we can be the antithesis of the Sephora Princesses blog (that term definitely evokes a certain approach/aesthetic, so I think it works).

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:38 (thirteen years ago)

id do a recurring column about beauty for the overslept/hungover

the most astonishing writer on ilx (roxymuzak), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

You got it, lady.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:42 (thirteen years ago)

hahahaha YES
i got ready in 20 minutes this morning. pro tip: do the eyeliner part at your desk

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:44 (thirteen years ago)

We know from your video that you do your hair the night before and put on lipstick as you walk to your car.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:52 (thirteen years ago)

I do non-eye makeup on the bus :-)

Point/Counterpoint: Applying Makeup on Public Transit

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 15:54 (thirteen years ago)

Hahahaha, busted. I used to do some makeup on the bus when my commute was 1.5 hrs each way but now I do it all at home, except my eyes if running late. I hated myself when I was a public makeupper. :(

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:57 (thirteen years ago)

you can time application with the stops if you're familiar enough with the route

the most astonishing writer on ilx (roxymuzak), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:57 (thirteen years ago)

Haha yes i did that! Tried to get most of it done on the subway portion, smoother ride.

The video was all lies! I only set THREE alarms too. And shower in the morning.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 7 September 2012 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

I could manage foundation on the train and eyeshadow if I was lazy and just doing one color...forget mascara/eyeliner though, I got blinded too many times

I went off nail polish cold-turkey all summer but yesterday's mani plus looking at polish blogs again is giving me THE BUG.

I am pretty strongly anti this. Touch ups are fine but I always think it's a little funny when people do a full face on the train/bus. I used to see this one lady put on everything except lotion on the bus! She would do foundation, concealer, everything!

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

lol

surm, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

some women are REALLY good at it, the liner is what gets me the most

surm, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

I mean don't get me wrong, I have done it but only in a pinch and not in a long time. I get woken up around 6:30 and don't actually leave until 8 so I have plenty of time to get ready at home.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:27 (thirteen years ago)

I could never do it on crowded public transport --- the train I took almost always emptied out by the 3rd or 4th inner city station, and I had 20 minutes in an almost empty carriage to work, so it was a lot easier to manage. But I haaaate ppl who do full face makeup on crowded trains. It's kinda gross, somehow?

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:28 (thirteen years ago)

Also I could never handle knowing that ppl were covertly judging my technique, haha

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:28 (thirteen years ago)

x-post - It is gross, yes! It just weirds me out. Empty carriage different story. Go to town imo.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

^^xp this! I used to have a constant fear people were looking at/judging me in all situations, so makeup doing was stressful. I got over it by dying my hair a ridiculous colour and embracing my otherness as a valid reason to be stared at. Going weirder made me feel less self conscious. Yay, psychology!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

well i mean, it is gross bc you're touching all the handlebars and everything, and then you're touching your face

that is p weird

surm, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

it's like u might as well do ur makeup in a gas station bathroom in backwoods alabama

or something

surm, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:33 (thirteen years ago)

bus is usually pretty empty. Also I wash then moisturise in the morning then like to let that sit for 30 mins or so before doing make up and I don't have time to do that before leaving. I only do a bit of concealer and powder really, couple of blobs of liquid foundation maybe. I have like an hour commute so want to leave the house asap

kinder, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:33 (thirteen years ago)

Lol I do not touch the bars

kinder, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:33 (thirteen years ago)

Lipstick or whatever is fine but it's the ladies who are just sitting there smearing foundation all over the place and stuff like it's just no thing. I don't want to witness any smearing that early in the am.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:34 (thirteen years ago)

I also clip my toenails, nbd

kinder, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:34 (thirteen years ago)

I feel like I take up enough space on public transit just existing, so also moving around to apply makeup would make me feel bad in a very specific way. Also, I have to make funny faces when I put on makeup and I don't want the word to see those faces!

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

x-post - Empty bus different story too. If there's really nobody there/looking then I would probably do it too.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

xxps - lol

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

WAIT you clip your toenails on the train?????

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

stop

surm, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

Ha ha ew no, get out

kinder, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

omg guys she was kidding

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

I think that being beyond disgusting is the single thing all ilxors agree on

kinder, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:38 (thirteen years ago)

I honestly don't know what I'd do if someone just kicked off their shoes and started clipping away on the bus. I mean besides die, of course.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:38 (thirteen years ago)

x-post - There was one person who admitted to clipping their nails at work though I can't remember who. You're right though - it seems to be a universal no-no.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:38 (thirteen years ago)

OH shit! Jeff saw someone BRUSHING HIS TEETH on the train a couple of weeks ago! He was wearing a bathrobe, too! (the tooth brusher, not Jeff.)

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

OMG WHAT

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

That's sort of amazing.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 7 September 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

He posted about it somewhere, I think. I'll see if I can find it.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:41 (thirteen years ago)

ha, my favourite co-worker called me up the other day to tell me that another co-worker had kicked off her shoes while they were talking and starting picking at her feet (keep in mind, they were both IN one of our stores while it was OPEN) and then started eating some food without washing her hands.

just1n3, Friday, 7 September 2012 16:41 (thirteen years ago)

haha kinder knows how to get our goats! and jeff saw The Dude?!

foundation I could never fathom doing on a train because there's always some left on my hands and I wash them before I go onto any other steps! but I'm one of those people who wash their hands a lot.
