I feel pretty--NOT! THE COSMETICS THREAD

When I say "flat" I mean, still glossy. But with no shimmer. I did struggle with how to say that for a second and now I see I could have been clearer!

There are matte coatings but iirc Lauren used one and it was disappoint?

Yeah - I knew that's how you meant it but FFM was talking about a pic sunny had posted where the nails where matte black with a shiny black tip so that's what I was talking about.

Ah, gotcha. I guess in my head matte=flat but I know what you mean. I've only recently come around to glitter, I have a very fine black one (black liquid, silver sparkles) that is fun. But since I finally kicked the nailbiting habit I have been going nuts experimenting with different styles - may try my hand at a gradient soon.

I have never liked shimmery or frosted nail polish. I don't even think I own any. I have just glossy straight colors or full out glitter no shimmery frosty stuff. It's never been my thing.

We could call it "I feel pretty--NOT!" Although that's really surm's intellectual property so we should probably check w/ him.

I am sort of the same about lipstick too tbh. I don't like shimmer or frosty ones. Glossy is fine but flat colors not frosty ones if that makes sense.

I've done that reverse-French mani with gloss black and bronze metallic tips. It was fun.

Yeah I've done one that was a sand color with turquoise tips. I don't like regular french but I love the different plays on it.

No, if I'm being honest I hate writing for a deadline and I don't really like product shopping, I just want to find one things that works forever and keep buying it. But I'll enjoy your cosmetic exploits--every blog needs readers, right?

I'm not saying I *can't* add your blog to any lists I see internally, haha. ;) We are definitely expanding the thing I did the video for into the US market next year!

I am still really bummed they discontinued my fave shade of my favorite liquid liner. I liked it because it was a really dark grey or maybe a soft light black and it didn't look harsh on me. Now the only choices are black or brown which are fine but but the other was PERFECT.

Is it okay to say we can do more than just reviews? Tutorials, musings on beauty stuff in general, explanations of what a product is even for (still thinking of sunny's drawings of how to use highlighter), stash photos (like my stash of BALMSTAINS and JUST BITTEN).

This sounds like my as yet unrealized most favourite beauty blog ever! So much of the stuff I see does seem to be created by and for Sephora Princesses, for lack of a better term.

Carl - of course! That's absolutely what I had in mind. All kinds of stuff.

I think it's safe to say that we can be the antithesis of the Sephora Princesses blog (that term definitely evokes a certain approach/aesthetic, so I think it works).
