it's been so long (for me) since i've had hair that goes past my shoulders, and i really want to grow it long again, but i might have to rethink my commitment.

I was thinking of growing my hair out so I could be Alice Cooper for halloween but the fact that I can grab it into a ponytail is already pissing me off. I definitely, definitely have to get it cut on Saturday.

My aunt is a huge AC fan and for her birthday one year my cousin had million dollar bills printed with my aunt as AC in the center. :) so good!

Alice defined halloween for me, I was SO scared of his album covers when I was little. And then I saw him sing You & Me on the Muppets and he's been a favorite ever since. I wanted to go with the straitjacket Alice, I could totally pull off long stringy hair if I could grow it out.

besides I want to do that makeup so badly. just once. just one halloween I want to be Alice.

That bob is good but in my case there is about 0.01 of an inch between it looking awesome and looking way unflattering. Find the sweet spot!
I have had a bob for ages but every so often contemplate growing it long so I can put it up...

That 90s bob is the same exact style that my mother cut my hair into when she cut it short as a punishment, so it's kinda not for me, thanks.

i went to an aveda salon, which was kind of pricey, and i had a senior stylist, but the whole thing felt very... uninspired?? like, she didn't really talk to me about my hair (or anything else) or ask more than 2 questions. i felt like i could've got pretty much the same quality of cut, for a quarter of the price, at super cuts.

it def still is an improvement, tho.

I've probably mentioned this before but I haven't had my hair cut by anyone but me since 1987. I'm sure it was the combination of having naturally super super curly hair and the attitude of suburban Sydney hairdressers that finally broke me. It seemed like if I was interested in a style they would scoff and say 'It would never work on you!' and then proceed to cut my hair just like theirs which was usually that horrific girl mullet where the top of your head is short and curly while everything from the ears down is straight. i mean WTF. same dude did my prom hair and it was so wack i washed it out and did it myself. Also someone did my hair for my wedding which was eh, you know, wedding hair.

This is saaaad! I don't know, maybe Aveda is an "institution" where people go because it's famous & expensive and not because they want to have a great rapport w their stylist? I've tried a lot of places and I only settled on this one stylist about two years ago. What's weird is I think I had to know my permanent style and know my SELF before I could help my stylist do my hair?? I take her lots of pictures, too, and then we talk about why my hair will or won't do the things in the photos.

i've cried in the chair before -- once because the haircut was bad and there were too many people standing around me trying to fix it, and once because my stylist was giving me straight talk about thinning and extensions.

btw i have appt on friday and it's just another stressful event in an already stress-packed week
i'm hoping it will be a good experience but honestly neutral would be perfectly fine too

Oh, I have totally cried in the chair. My hair has settled a bit and I like it a lot more now. Three different strangers told me they loved my haircut over the weekend and one made me give her the name of my stylist so I'm thinking that's all a good sign.

i love my hairdresser. I started seeing her about 8 years ago and from the first appointment she's always just known the way to make my hair look the best. and she's really cool and chill and not super hairdrsser-chatty/gossipy which I love.

I had a really bad three years of haircuts when I lived in NC because no matter what I asked for, I always ended up walking out with some version of the 00s flipped out layered bob look.

Home-dyeing my hair for a 90's party on Saturday. (It's taken me all month to get over the IDEA of a NINETIES party goddammit they weren't that long ago *cries*)

Aimed for that 90's cheap blue-black color that I used to love so dearly. Goddamn high quality hair dyes now, my "violet-black" looks salon-dyed! Even the cheap dyes aren't cheap-looking anymore, lol. I remember when I could reliably pay $5 for my hairdye and have it look like it cost $5 to boot, lol

Resolved to dye from box due to new poor student status, looked at boxes, tried to match colour, became haircolourblind, gave up, pulled some greys

the old lady who cuts my hair is like totally out of commission she fucked up her shoulder and never came back :(

I will admit to kind of liking the "washed out and washed up" ennui-laden rattiness of the pink ones.

i wish i could find a stylist in little rock that bonded hair extensions with cold keratin fusion but it seems impossible not to mention impossibly expensive.
