J crew has some nice stuffI think $400 for a CdG shirt is actually a bit low?I'm mad that CdG PLAY is just super basic shit with a goofy logo on it and not at all signature CDG-weirdI worked at Kohls for a minute and their men's clothes are abysmal, like they look SO BAD, and they almost never get smalls, and when they do they're lolhueg

I have a couple white shirts with dense floral prints. Only kind of fun, but not all fun is maximal, I guess.
Stevie, that shirt is nice and complements your hair.

― the late great, Thursday, 2 August 2012 15:14 (thirteen years ago)

j crew has shirts that LOOK great but they are sized/sewn v v weird usually and often made of material that looks great on a hangar but not so great on you (or me, at least)
― ♆ (gr8080), Thursday, 2 August 2012 16:51 (thirteen years ago)
i think the thomas mason / j crew shirts are some of the best shirts i've ever owned, of course they are about twice as much as regular j crew shirt
― the late great, Thursday, 2 August 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)

― ♆ (gr8080), Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:01 (thirteen years ago)
that shirt is also pretty fun. (british high street seems full of short sleeve/loud print/vaguely aloha feeling shirts at the moment. the girl who stopped me to take my photo has just started a blog called 'oxford vintage' on which i appear to be the second post and i feel bad because basically everything i am wearing is like two weeks old)
― thomp, Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:13 (thirteen years ago)
everything you are wearing is FRESH and CRISPY
― the late great, Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:19 (thirteen years ago)
tlg can we get back to that $200 thing? who made it?
― ♆ (gr8080), Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:34 (thirteen years ago)
my dad told me that he likes my hawaiian shirt but it's "too small" except it's not and btw FUCK YOU DAD ;_;
― real men have been preparing manly dishes for centuries (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:40 (thirteen years ago)
gr80 i see you tuck that shirt in, is that a dress code thing bc hawaiian / camp shirts seem too short to (stay) tuck(ed)
― real men have been preparing manly dishes for centuries (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:43 (thirteen years ago)
xposts hahaha-- in your dad's defense, men of his generation often have a conceived notion that aloha shirts are meant to fit very loose and baggy, regardless of what part of the world they live in
with most new aloha shirts (not the "modern" ones i linked upthread), a small will fit me the same as an american apparel large.
re: my tuck-in-- it depends on where you work. ive been at three diff hotels here and two of them did not have a tucked dress code, and one did. i personally (being short & boxy) feel i look better with a tucked shirt, as does our stylish general manager.
though you're right that aloha shirts often aren't cut that way and can tend to spill out when you want them to stay tucked in. the one i'm wearing is cut w/ tails though.
― ♆ (gr8080), Thursday, 2 August 2012 18:48 (thirteen years ago)
since this is now the aloha print thread too-- what do you guys think about this deadstock/unworn vintage hawaiian blazer i found at goodwill for $7?
http://i.imgur.com/lOwtX.jpg
my friend sells the same ones on etsy for $50-$200 and will give me good money for it, it fits me pretty good, might need to be taken in just an inch around the chest, but i think i'm keeping it! its totally my best colors, too.
