Omg your bureau! It looks great, elmo! I'm sort of against staging something you actually USE every day, but it's possible you don't have 6 bottles of perfume/lotion and 3 different trays of jewelry & a giant jewelry box and a bowl of bangles on your dresser.

(My entrance to the apt is also through my bedroom so the end of my dresser is also my "landing strip", ie it collects keys and receipts and packs of cigarettes. Nice work on yours.)

i am in desperate need of shelving

I have shelves that only go up to just over 6' high which is a waste in a room with 10' ceilings. I wish I had something taller but replacing them would be expensive so I pile books on the floor and wait.

looking for business surplus companies for some of those huge closed metal shelving units so i can finally get my LPs out of milk crates.

also, cute bookshelves, please.

shelving is a problem in my apt because A. horsehair plaster walls means i cannot mount anything weight bearing onto the wall, B. baseboard heating along almost all walls means no shelving unit lies flush against the wall

You need something with legs underneath but only in the front, that leans against the wall for support!

Or you could make those plumbing-supply shelves that "everyone" loves right now and screw them into the floor & ceiling (and lean the rest of the weight against the wall if nec).

Or...screw 4 wooden feet into a normal cabinet-shaped bookshelf but push the back feet forward just far enough to clear the rad. I have a link somewhere for hairpin legs, or there are lots of pre-made options for all kinds of feet.

what kind are they? any idea?

i mostly just have books on my bookshelf - thinking i should try and buy more books in french because the french publishers had the excellent idea of making all the spines pretty uniform styles and shades of ivory and white, while the english ones come in all these distracting colors

yeah my ex-wife was into that, don't forget about new directions paperbacks w/ the black spines

those french paperbacks look really really excellent on a sapien bookshelf

i used to work at a shop that sold bauer, red wing, russell wright, haeger, etc but i haven't had much fiestaware pass through my hands
