changing up yr style and/or new look 4 u in 2012

Thanks to suggestions from the sandbox, I now find myself the owner of 16 pairs of black crew socks. My question now: should get rid of my white undershirts to match this, or is that just not that important?

why did the sandbox suggest 16 pairs of black socks?????????????

also why would your undershirt need to match anything? it goes *under* stuff. also black undershirts are visible under white/light/thin shirts

Well, the talk was specifically about casual socks.

The crew socks at Kohls came in black, white, or grey. White was out. Grey seemed a little weird. They didn't have blue, which a lot of people on the thread seemed to recommend, to be honest. But the most important thing was "anything but white", if i recall correctly.

I just bought 16 white undershirts. I replenish them every couple of years.

all my socks are black and from one mftr, why, well after I do laundry I can just pair them without thinking

it's also important to evaluate where you are on the dad side of the white sock curve - it's like a laffer curve, at some point you will have become old and dad-ish enough where you are only allowed to wear white crew socks, preferably with new balance running shoes and khaki cargo shorts with a polo tucked in

Oh see, I'm old and a dad. But it's not like I ever stopped wearing white crew socks, other than white ankle socks in the summer or black dress socks with businesswear.

Oh yeah, I totally used to do that with my undershirts, although I was still wearing white crew socks. It's nice to bring a little flash of color into your wardrobe.

V-necks are the way forward. If you leave like just the very top button unbuttoned, you're not trying'ta showcase chest-hair but you're also not looking like a farmer who just stepped away from the combine for a second.

I dig 'em. They're my favorite to wear, also, because crew necks pull on my neck funny/fit too closely.

If I wanted my shirt to choke me there are turtlenecks for that.

i think the general key with undershirts is just to match them to your dress shirt, right? especially if you've got the top button undone, like don't wear a white undershirt with a dark shirt. i have to say that as a woman i never thought about this re: guys' clothing until a few years ago when i dated someone who dressed well yet always wore white undershirts - and me being who i am, actually told him (nicely!) that it looked wrong. he is still my friend and doesn't always match his undershirt to his shirt but really, whatevs!

I decided to resurrect these super old high waisted jeans I bought right before they stopped making high waisted jeans (and long before anyone started making them again). So I'm wearing these jeans, and just kind of feeling shitty. Why do I feel so nervous? It is a stressful time of the year for me, deadlines and all, maybe it's that.

Then I realized that it was not that. I am not stressed about work so much as I am UNABLE to take a complete deep breath with something cutting off my circulation at the middle.

i hate black socks fwiw. i find them repulsive but admitteldly i'm kinda weird about it.

Bought a beautiful Katharine Hamnett pullover today. Subsequently found out it was made of baby alpaca yarn, which made me a little sad for the baby alpacas.

They don't have to hurt them to get the wool, I'm pretty sure!

No, but it can get cold in the mountains of Peru if you have no wool, i'm sure.

pro tip: don't wash your dress shirts in the wash even if it says it's okay on the label, take that shit to a dry cleaner.

I bought one of the above yesterday and wore it to the office today. It helped me overcome my insomniac daze and make like a banking professional!

eh, as someone who has worn dress shirts daily for the past two years I find my dry-clean only dress shirts to be in much better condition than my dress shirts which I have put in the wash. then again, I only get them dry-cleaned like 3-4 times a year. I don't have pit sweat, though, so ymmv
