La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 17:09 (twelve years ago) link

yes those boots!
tho unless they have a zipper, they will own you as much as you own them. not that that's a bad thing.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 6 January 2012 17:19 (twelve years ago) link

yes they do look like a lot of work. but then, Laurel seems v industrious.

horseshoe, Friday, 6 January 2012 17:26 (twelve years ago) link

I am, it's true. Also I like hardcore things that are v inconvenient/uncomfortable, I don't feel like I'm doing Accomplishment right unless it hurts somehow.

But they do have a zipper.

first look makes me wonder about the ethics of whether designers should really be cultivating a mentally ill street person "look"

Okay, I ordered the boots. So much for winter wellies, eh?

It means why you gotta be a montague? (Laurel), Friday, 6 January 2012 18:03 (twelve years ago) link

I have very standard proportions, so most clothes fit me just right... I mean, except I am very large-chested, and wide-hipped.. and pretty much big everywhere. Still, I work it. Damn, gurl.

I also will wear just about anything these days, "flattering" be damned.

homosexual II, Friday, 6 January 2012 18:30 (twelve years ago) link

I procured a new fancy bra and panty set from Agent Provocateur on SALE and oh my god the bra size that fit best was a double D! A DOUBLE D!

Having worn the same model of Wacoal 34C bras for ages now, it now occurs to me that omg maybe I one of the 99% or whatever of women who has been wearing the wrong bra size. Me! Wrong size!

This would so explain the escaping left nipple problem, perhaps?

quincie, Friday, 6 January 2012 20:35 (twelve years ago) link

Anyhow I am going to suck it up and try on a D bra and laugh as I do it because I spent so many years as the chair of the itty bitty titty committee.

quincie, Friday, 6 January 2012 20:36 (twelve years ago) link

I know that ladies often wear the wrong size but how could you spend years not knowing you had a secret huge rack!? I want pretty lacy bras now. Would def not be a DD though. :(

☆★☆彡彡 (ENBB), Friday, 6 January 2012 20:37 (twelve years ago) link

a C is not itty bitty?

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 20:38 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah a C is pretty big in my book!

☆★☆彡彡 (ENBB), Friday, 6 January 2012 20:39 (twelve years ago) link

No I agree that a C is not itty bitty, but throughout high school and much of college, I did not have a lot of boob going on. I hit a C sometime after grad school when I had a grown up job that paid enough for me to eat more delicious foodz.

I think the DD was an oddity of this particular fancy AP bra, but I will try the D in my boring old Wacoal model and see if that is better at keeping nipples in check!

quincie, Friday, 6 January 2012 20:42 (twelve years ago) link

Laurel - i am envious of your shoulders because that means you can fit into way more vintage dresses and tops than I can. I first learned to sew so that I could expand the shoulders and sleeves of vintage dresses to fit my peasantly dimensions.

sarahel, Friday, 6 January 2012 20:51 (twelve years ago) link

I'm going to look at the AP website as soon as I get home.

It means why you gotta be a montague? (Laurel), Friday, 6 January 2012 20:53 (twelve years ago) link

will the AP website make my boobs bigger?

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 20:53 (twelve years ago) link

^^^

lol

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:01 (twelve years ago) link

Cup sizes vary w/ band size, so a 34 DD is a smaller cup than a 40 DD. So there's not really an objective C cup.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:20 (twelve years ago) link

it's relative, right? like cup size is determined by how many inches larger the biggest boob part is vs the bust measurement

sarahel, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:22 (twelve years ago) link

Aye.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:23 (twelve years ago) link

You could totally be a DD and have been wearing the wrong size this entire time. A friend of mine just recently got measured at Nordstrom and should be wearing a 32DD when she's been wearing a 34C for years.

Oh, and I wear 38G so I HAVE to buy expensive bras.

homosexual II, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:24 (twelve years ago) link

i guess i really have no idea what bra size i am

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:25 (twelve years ago) link

have been thinking of going to nordstroms and getting properly measured since i followed the instructions on a link someone posted here that told me i was a 40DD, and i was like ???!?

sarahel, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:26 (twelve years ago) link

Amanda, go to Nordstrom and get a free bra measurement

And get a bra there, and don't bother with Victoria's Secret or whatever. Because Wacoal and Chantelle are the best brands imo.

homosexual II, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:26 (twelve years ago) link

Victoria's secret sucks imo.

☆★☆彡彡 (ENBB), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:27 (twelve years ago) link

Yup they're awful!

They don't even make my size, though, so it's not like I've worn one anytime in the recent past.

homosexual II, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:28 (twelve years ago) link

I am only a B so they def make my size and I did wear them when I was younger before I realized that I hated all of them.

☆★☆彡彡 (ENBB), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:28 (twelve years ago) link

Hey, homo, we wear the same bra size!

Amanda there is a good place called Isabella on Armitage right off the Brown Line that is all about personalized fittings. I'll go with you some time. My bras are wearing out.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:29 (twelve years ago) link

i was wondering recently what a "bralette" is

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:30 (twelve years ago) link

also, OK!

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:30 (twelve years ago) link

xp is that an item of clothing or a snooki-like female?

sarahel, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:31 (twelve years ago) link

i guess they're like soft cup bras? basically stretch bras?

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:32 (twelve years ago) link

for natural 70s boob

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:32 (twelve years ago) link

what is natural 70s boob?

sarahel, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:32 (twelve years ago) link

Not pointy like 50s boobs or high and tight like contemporary boobs.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:35 (twelve years ago) link

Just kind of hanging out, being cool and not worrying too much boob. Or maybe disco boob.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:35 (twelve years ago) link

lol yes

it's all of those, I think

☆★☆彡彡 (ENBB), Friday, 6 January 2012 21:36 (twelve years ago) link

a natural boob that moves

La Lechera, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:37 (twelve years ago) link

these are all such great phrases

sarahel, Friday, 6 January 2012 21:47 (twelve years ago) link

I read in a snooty book once that the pleasure of truly great bras is that they make the breasts look SMALLER, thereby making the wearer more demure on the outside but revealing a more generous physique to the intimate acquaintance. Snooty book might be full of shit, I haven't decided.
