*reads upthread a bit* So, you folks would recommend getting a box of gloss color, then?

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Saturday, 12 November 2011 04:53 (fourteen years ago)

LL's haircut and colour were a booming success, I have witnessed them.

ljubljana, Saturday, 12 November 2011 04:58 (fourteen years ago)

my mother-in-law is in town this weekend and took me on a spending spree at costco as an early b'day/xmas present, and i got my first ever curling iron! i'm super excited to curl my hair tomorrow!

just1n3, Saturday, 12 November 2011 05:50 (fourteen years ago)

you have not truly owned a curling iron until you have one fired by butane cartridges ;)

it's hard to see how truly orange it is because it is against an orange wall, but here is the hair (minor bedhead, but the other side looks like robert smith, hence the profile)

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Saturday, 12 November 2011 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

beautiful, Amanda! i love it!

horseshoe, Saturday, 12 November 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

i think it actually looks a lot better than that irl, i think, but i can't get the stupid camera to cooperate and the busy background isn't helping. also i haven't done much in terms of showering today.

the MMMM cult (La Lechera), Saturday, 12 November 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

i have not yet crossed "bathe" off of my to-do list
i did eat pancakes and drink a tankard of coffee though

the MMMM cult (La Lechera), Saturday, 12 November 2011 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

JuliaA, Saturday, 12 November 2011 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

Love! The cut makes your hair look really thick

just1n3, Saturday, 12 November 2011 18:37 (fourteen years ago)

Gorgeous, glossy color! That's the color I wish I had naturally!

quincie, Saturday, 12 November 2011 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

Oh my god that's wonderful! I love the bang-sweep! want to see oth side....

It means why you gotta be a montague? (Laurel), Saturday, 12 November 2011 19:16 (fourteen years ago)

I spent ages growing out my fringe/bangs after I stopped dying my hair (could not cope with roots growing out right on my face otherwise). But I can't really get my hair to do much other than kind of hang straight down or clip to one side which kind of looks weird so I might hack at them today in a fit or frustration...

kinder, Saturday, 12 November 2011 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

Your hair is fantastic, LL!

puffy paint (Abbbottt), Saturday, 12 November 2011 20:25 (fourteen years ago)

thanks guys! i will try to snap a better photo today because this isn't really representative of how colorful my head is atm

the MMMM cult (La Lechera), Saturday, 12 November 2011 20:27 (fourteen years ago)

Looks awesome!

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Saturday, 12 November 2011 21:11 (fourteen years ago)

Awww! I love it! Can't wait to see the full view.

I've had my hair in rollers all day gearing up for birthday dinner, wish me luck! Never tried to curl it at shoulder length, I figure if it's terrible it can at least become an updo!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Saturday, 12 November 2011 23:15 (fourteen years ago)

also this IS hair related, sorta: I nair'd off the blonde mustache that my body has been cultivating and I feel great! I was getting pretty whiskery. Now the hairless skin around my mouth feels so weird though, hah!

What, during Movember? (I am not sure how I feel about Movember)

ljubljana, Saturday, 12 November 2011 23:55 (fourteen years ago)

lovely lechera!

tehresa, Sunday, 13 November 2011 02:38 (fourteen years ago)

When I was going to the massage class that I met my husband at, one of our classmates dyed her hair with red wine--it came out a lovely reddish-purple color. Does anyone know anything about how to do this?

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 13 November 2011 04:04 (fourteen years ago)

my version of dying my hair with red wine would be: drinking a glass of red wine while waiting for hair dye to process.

tehresa, Sunday, 13 November 2011 04:12 (fourteen years ago)

I'll go for that.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 13 November 2011 04:15 (fourteen years ago)

some kind of fixer would have to be involved, not sure what, e.g. when i'm dyeing fabric at work, 98% of the colour would wash out if i didn't also process it with soda ash (not recommended for your hair, though!)

just1n3, Sunday, 13 November 2011 04:17 (fourteen years ago)

There's other types of mordants that could be tried, although I'd personally draw the line at human urine.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 13 November 2011 04:22 (fourteen years ago)

As I told my husband, it's still NOvember.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 13 November 2011 07:52 (fourteen years ago)

So I have a little rash on one side of my former mustache :P Luckily(?) I've been sick for a week now (in the 'congestion only stage') so I can pass it off like the constant nose blowing/proximity of tissues to my mouth has created it. Lesson learned: don't be a cheap asshole, pay the damn $5 to get it waxed by a pro.

hi guys. just here to report my daily "i hate my hair." i hate my hair.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 16 November 2011 23:37 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

how do you feel about your hair today, horseshoe?

my hair is SO fucked up from over bleaching and children pulling chunks out everyday but i have discovered bumble and bumble 'brilliantine'. Such a hair saver. My hair looks better than it did pre-bleaching when i use this stuff. Soft too!. Shiny too! I didnt think it was possible. A few days ago I bought the thickening spray and surf hair but havent tried those yet

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

haha pretty good, strangely! maybe i can stop being so damn mopey on this thread.

yay for your hair revival! b&b products are the stuff ime. they fix everything.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 03:10 (fourteen years ago)

my hair has become all kinds of better (much less dry) since i stopped putting it up in a towel after washing it - now i just press the water out with a towel as best i can and then put khiels silk groom in it and let it air dry for a bit and then blow dry. so much better. i read this is a magazine, the blotting rather than toweling method for curly/wavey thick hair. thanks, magazines!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 03:17 (fourteen years ago)

I always think of Hello, Dolly when I use the b&b brilliantine.

The surf spray smells like the beach!!

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 05:14 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

Called to schedule trim today and my stylist no longer works at salon. Noooooooo. I love him. What do I doooooo?

tehresa, Saturday, 11 February 2012 16:03 (fourteen years ago)

find him on facebook?

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Saturday, 11 February 2012 16:14 (fourteen years ago)

Can't so far. I think he gave me a card with his number like a year and a half ago but it's going to take me forever to find it in the black hole that is my apt :(

tehresa, Saturday, 11 February 2012 16:17 (fourteen years ago)

Oh man this just happened to me but they told me the salon she'd moved to...

kinder, Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:43 (fourteen years ago)

tehresa, Saturday, 11 February 2012 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

tehresa, Sunday, 12 February 2012 02:22 (fourteen years ago)

Try Rene3 at Fringe in Georgetown. She is lovely and she is good, and it's not crazy expensive.

ljubljana, Sunday, 12 February 2012 14:03 (fourteen years ago)

There's a difficult to see one on the WDYLL thread but here is another one that's a little easier to see

tehresa, Sunday, 12 February 2012 16:38 (fourteen years ago)

I love that wig!!! I've never worn a wig ever but now I'm intrigued. Where did you get it?

wolf kabob (ENBB), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:13 (fourteen years ago)

You make a good blonde tbrr! Good contrast w eyebrows.

OH I need to dye my brows again today, thanks for reminding me.

one little aioli (Laurel), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

Thanks! I've worn several different wigs (for fun, going out, dressing up, etc) and this is by far the prettiest one.
I got it at a wig store! International Beauty Supply, I think it was called, but it was just your garden variety wig store.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

I work with a lot of ladies who wear wigs on the regular and I'm always a little envious. I would feel too self conscious to change my hair so drastically in my day to day life.

That wig looks good! You are a good blond.

carl agatha, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:41 (fourteen years ago)

Xp yes, she does my hair and I love her cuts but find it hard ti re-create the blowout. I really have to get into the habit of at least trying to dry it properly rather than going to sleep with wet hair, then ironing it in the morning
