i had a moment of clarity while staring in disgust at my hair today where i realized precisely what was wrong with it and cut those parts. i fucked up the back a little like i usually do, but i feel a million times better about it.

I know what it feels like. That's exactly what I did a couple weeks ago when I snipped off the long bits in front. I felt SO much better afterwards.

there needs to be a portmanteau word for this feeling. perhaps there is one in German?

Maybe, but I think it would apply to the feeling I get when I successfully pluck this one terrible chin hair that I have.

^^^^ I totally have one of these! It is a little thrill to jerk it out every month or so.

Ha! Yes! And when it's time, I can't really think about anything else until I can get to it.

I started with one chin hair when I was 16. Right now, if I didn't shave every six hours I would have a full chin beard with stray hairs going up my jaw and down my neck.

I too become obsessive and then jubilant when the chin hair pops up. I confirmed this with my Grandma - she loves it too. Heh.

my mother-in-law is in town this weekend and took me on a spending spree at costco as an early b'day/xmas present, and i got my first ever curling iron! i'm super excited to curl my hair tomorrow!

you have not truly owned a curling iron until you have one fired by butane cartridges ;)

it's hard to see how truly orange it is because it is against an orange wall, but here is the hair (minor bedhead, but the other side looks like robert smith, hence the profile)

I spent ages growing out my fringe/bangs after I stopped dying my hair (could not cope with roots growing out right on my face otherwise). But I can't really get my hair to do much other than kind of hang straight down or clip to one side which kind of looks weird so I might hack at them today in a fit or frustration...

I've had my hair in rollers all day gearing up for birthday dinner, wish me luck! Never tried to curl it at shoulder length, I figure if it's terrible it can at least become an updo!

also this IS hair related, sorta: I nair'd off the blonde mustache that my body has been cultivating and I feel great! I was getting pretty whiskery. Now the hairless skin around my mouth feels so weird though, hah!

When I was going to the massage class that I met my husband at, one of our classmates dyed her hair with red wine--it came out a lovely reddish-purple color. Does anyone know anything about how to do this?

my version of dying my hair with red wine would be: drinking a glass of red wine while waiting for hair dye to process.
