I am posting at work! I never do this! I am fed up today.

i like this rebellious streak in you, ljub!
― tehresa, Wednesday, 26 October 2011 22:30 (fourteen years ago)
Woo! 5pm and I went online for like, 7 minutes! Then I processed my expense claim :-(
― ljubljana, Wednesday, 26 October 2011 23:21 (fourteen years ago)
ljub, i think you should find a lipstick that is just a shade darker than your real lip colour, or even the same colour! i know that seems weird, but i have lipstick/stain that is almost my lip colour and it just makes me look slightly more put together without looking like whoa lipstick.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 26 October 2011 23:40 (fourteen years ago)
Interesting! I will try this out on Saturday - will march into a makeup emporium and see if they can match the colour. Btw, having now met you in person I must tell you that you have the most amazing eyes. (Not attributable to cosmetics).
― ljubljana, Wednesday, 26 October 2011 23:44 (fourteen years ago)
I do the same thing w/ lip color.
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Wednesday, 26 October 2011 23:59 (fourteen years ago)
aw thanks! as i tentatively enter the online-dating world, that is a good thing for me to hear! :)
funny too because now that my skin is clearing up so much and properly moisturized, i'm starting to care more about eye make-up - but i'm pale and pink-toned, so any heavier eye make still makes my eyes look bruised. so i may just stick with the top-lid eyeliner in dif colours and a lighter shadow on the rest of the lid and play up my lip colour instead.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 27 October 2011 00:14 (fourteen years ago)
These last few weeks, I've been playing with ever so faint contouring- used to just throw a sweep of beige eyeshadow on, but now I blend four different browns together for a similarly subtle but IMO very flattering look. I just can't work in colour eyeshadows - I blame the hair colour!
Makeup <3 I wish I didn't sleep in every day, so I'd have time to do it up right. This is, again, a RuPaul's Drag Race influence. Half of the episode is them sitting around, doing complicated makeup. Hah.

i don't know how to do gel blush. doesn't it clog ur pores
― surm, Thursday, 27 October 2011 04:07 (fourteen years ago)
I guess it might, but clean n clear has my back. Have you tried? Gel rubs and blends nicely.
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 27 October 2011 12:29 (fourteen years ago)
The Perfect gel blush is quite nice but i think too $$ for what it is, when there are other less expensive alternatives. When I was in highschool I used bonne belle gel blush - do they still make it? I do not know. But it didn't clog my pores.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 27 October 2011 13:24 (fourteen years ago)
Haha I would choose sleep over makeup-doing any day too! In fact, this is why I've been getting facials lately and using specialty sensitive skin products - so I don't have to deal with makeup in the morning!
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 27 October 2011 13:30 (fourteen years ago)
i love the creme blush looks for sure. that glow! maybe i should get some today.

VICTORY! Kinda small tho. I was quite pleased with my eyeliner and wanted to show it off :(
― quincie, Saturday, 5 November 2011 17:26 (fourteen years ago)
lol
We can still see it by following the link! You/your make-up looked fantastic. Is that your house in these pics - the turquoise one? I LOVE it.
― Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Saturday, 5 November 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)
Thanks! Best eyeliner I've ever done--they cake eyeliner gods were with me that day. And yes, that is our 100-yr-old house! It turned out to be kind of a pain in the ass to host a (albeit small) wedding at home, but I'm really glad we did. The house is kind our kid. We love it but it is needy as all get-out.

Nice cat! How old is s/he?
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Saturday, 5 November 2011 18:35 (fourteen years ago)
That's my old lady, the real Quincie, who is round about 19 years old! Not shown is the section of counter completely devoted to the geriatric kitty apothecary, complete with mortar and pestle, syringes, and more Rx bottles than your average octogenarian.
― quincie, Saturday, 5 November 2011 19:28 (fourteen years ago)
You are vvvv pretty, q!
― just1n3, Saturday, 5 November 2011 19:44 (fourteen years ago)
Aw thanks! I'm glad I did my own makeup because I felt like a polished-up version of me rather than "GAH so not me!"
I even put on false eyelashes! But not the uber-dramatic type; just demi lashes on the outer half.
― quincie, Saturday, 5 November 2011 19:52 (fourteen years ago)
just1n3 otmso pretty!
― Yasmine Teeth (La Lechera), Saturday, 5 November 2011 23:02 (fourteen years ago)
Aww, sweet old cat. I've got a 16 or 17 year old tabby who's starting to look bedraggled in a similar way. So far, she hasn't needed a lot of home health interventions, which is good because she's the nicest cat on the planet until you try to make her do something (like take a pill), at which point she attempts to eat your face.
But back to the topic - that is great eyeliner. What did you end up doing with your hair? I guess that goes in the hair thread.

So I've had the Naked palette for about a week now and I LOVE IT!!!! It's so amazing. I realized tonight that I'd used every color except the greys so I tried out a sorta smokey eye and then went to the supermarket feeling very tarted up. lol. Anyway - this was the result: http://i54.tinypic.com/k46m4o.jpg Thank you so much to those who recommended that palette. I am so glad I got it!

Ooh I haven't looked here forever. I'll also rep for voluminous mascara.Have we talked about the new smash box palette?? I think it's exclusive to QVChttp://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.CM_SCID.coll.item.A217751.desc.smashbox-Photo-Op-Mega-Palette
Want!

Switched to that Voluminous mascara stuff a day ago. Got raccoon eyes yesterday, but not today.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 02:54 (fourteen years ago)
Do you wear concealer? I think it was Quincy who mentioned having problems with mascara smearing when she wears concealed.
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Sunday, 6 November 2011 03:18 (fourteen years ago)
I wear eye cream, something from Dove.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 04:34 (fourteen years ago)
I could see that making the mascara run, actually.
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Sunday, 6 November 2011 12:05 (fourteen years ago)
I can't not wear concealer (this is their undereye brightening cream) because I have deep dark near-Anne-Frank level allergic shiners.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)
Should I try a powder concealer instead? I also have allergic creases under my eyes (there's a formal name for them, but I forgot it), and I'm worried that the powder may make them look worse.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 14:40 (fourteen years ago)
I wear concealer every day, too, and don't have that problem so I don't know. Could just be the mascara? I'm just kind of brainstorming.
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Sunday, 6 November 2011 14:51 (fourteen years ago)
My trick has been to do one coat of Voluminous, then a second coat of Lash Exact waterproof. The Lash Exact on its own doesn't really give me as much oomph as I would like, but putting a layer on over the Voluminous seems to prevent the Voluminous alone+concealer raccoon eyes.
― quincie, Sunday, 6 November 2011 15:23 (fourteen years ago)
ooh i think i will try this! i have always liked the look of voluminous but was not able to deal w/ the smudging.
― tehresa, Sunday, 6 November 2011 16:24 (fourteen years ago)
and i used to like lash exact but it wasn't enough oomf.
I'm already using waterproof mascara.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 16:27 (fourteen years ago)
Do you rub your eyes a lot? That used to cause the problem for me when I first started wearing makeup.
― despite all my rage I am still just a Latter Day Saint (Abbbottt), Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:02 (fourteen years ago)
Never. That's why I can't figure out why this is happening.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:13 (fourteen years ago)
I think I mentioned it, but I always get a little smudge of mascara under my left eye in the same place and I have no idea why. I just chalk it up to the quiddities and agonies of wearing mascara. (insert shrugging emoticon here)
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:41 (fourteen years ago)
Christine do you wear any eyeliner? If so, maybe that is transferring and not so much the mascara? This happens to me--I would like to tightline my top lash line in super-black eyeliner, but it ends up transferring to under my eyes :(
― quincie, Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:43 (fourteen years ago)
I wear white (or sometimes gold) eyeliner when I do wear it, so that's not it.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:47 (fourteen years ago)
Oh - have you tried an eyeshadow primer? I read on a blog somewhere that there is a good, cheap one for sale at Target although I can't remember the brand. If your eyelids are kind of oily the primer will control that, and this might keep your mascara in place.
― They're coming to get you, (Jenny), Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:49 (fourteen years ago)
Maybe worth doing the experiemnt to see what happens if you just do the very tips of your lashes with the mascara, and not swipe it down closer to the roots? And then vice versa. Maybe it is a placement issue?
― quincie, Sunday, 6 November 2011 17:51 (fourteen years ago)
Oh and ime there are plenty of waterproof mascaras that give me raccoon eyes because they shed little specks down below my eyes :(
