i like the caramel/tan boot thing but i just haven't been able to find a pair that's the right shade/style yet.. though i did put a pair on preorder that i hope will work out whenever they arrive

I found the image on Pinterest and reverse GISing it seems to land you on some french fashion blog. The post with that pic was from 2008. Never gonna find it. Sigh. Still would be v interested in anything that sort of looks like it though.

i have a dress shaped kinda like that from uniqlo, it's a little frillier though. it's black and has the drop waist with gathered skirt, but instead of buttons up the front it has two kind of mermaid ruffles. i think it was part of some ridiculous "alice in wonderland" series. i love it because it's totally all seasons, and i can dress it up or down depending on mood. also super comf.

that dress does look like it's by a french label but it looks a little too simple to be one of the one's i'd recognize.. maybe it's comptoir des cotonniers..

i made the most practical shoe-buying decision i've made in years today: i bought black Blundstones. i needed something i could walk a lot in, hike a little in, are waterproof, can get dirty, etc. and looking at all the ugly walking/hiking shoes out there, these were the best option! i haven't worn boots like this since my doc marten 90s days! they are quite comfortable. if i roll my skinny jeans up, they look cuter. at the same time, chunky boots, ohboy. i do feel tough tho!

i also think they will look cute with big wooly socks and legwarmers. both of which i need to go find and purchase. but they are out there; i have seen them. eesh, shopping!

i just don't want to fall into that particular aesthetic that is a mainstay of more expensive outdoor-gear stores - it's like outdoorsy+hippiecool+$$. i'm not really worried.
also, the sales guy was so cute. and he said he was studying physics at school. aw.

the last pair of shoes i bought were actually giant boots (40% off yaay!) - my first pair of truly warm winter boots - and it only took me 10 years of montreal winters to finally buy. lol...

they're not actually all that giant compared to sorels or keens or other big winter boots. and no zipper! i am so tired of zippers breaking due to lots of walking + salt damage. and i can wear these snowshoeing :)

oh that's so funny - no wonder i like them too! i have a pair of All Black shoes i bought a couple of years ago in brooklyn - they are exactly the same shape except the leather isn't textured and has little cutouts in flower pattern. they are really comfortable too. i recommend, wld buy again.

I have a strange aversion to peep toes because my toes are not long enough to peep. I have short toes.

haha i kind of have the opposite prob - i don't want the peep hole (um...) to be too big because it makes my long (but not really all that long!) toes appear longer.

so I have to gab about those Bass heeled patent leather saddle shoes again... I don't think I've worn a pair of shoes that's received this many compliments, EVER. They are totally amazing. And go with A LOT of my wardrobe. Pretty comfy, too. A+++++

My Bass loafers are pretty rad, but they were EXTREMELY tight over the instep until I stretched 'em. Clearly made for someone with a lot less arch than my poor feet. May not be as much of a problem with an oxford style?

i have those cole haan saddle shoes in a different color, i like them quite a bit

a friend of mine bought the bass ones last year and they fell apart really quickly, like they barely lasted the summer

i am kinda smitten with the cognac color on the cole haans which is the only reason i am entertaining them as an option, idk if that's worth more than double the price of the others

yeah for s.thing like saddle shoes you probably dont care about getting 10 years wear out of them so i can understand that. i have superhigh arches and cole haans fit me much better than other midrange stuff and even most high end mens shoes

yeah i would just be adding them into the casual s/s rotation with a couple pairs of suede bucks and some canvas sneaks, probably not gonna get heavy duty wear

might go florsheim, i think the brick red sole looks nice. i kinda worry about them looking like golf shoes tho? esp if i wear em with shorts

I love those red soles too but they wear down and no one replaces them anymore. Get something w a leather bottom and then have it recovered with extra leather or some rubber, is my advice. The heel of that all-foam sole is going to wear out unevenly and fast.

I have to send my Fryes back to the company over the summer--they need to be resoled FOR REALS and not just what cobblers do today, which is put another layer over the old layer. I mean actually unstitched and resewn onto a new bottom. I have no idea how much this is going to cost me. Can you still send them back? It's not for free anymore, I imagine.

I like the way saddle shoes look unto themselves but I wouldn't really know how to wear them. Maybe I'm not 'metro' enough.
