elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 00:35 (fourteen years ago)

anyway since ties are kinda my thing i have to say i am going heavy on rough vintage wool & brushed flannel ties, lots of plaids, ancient madder paisleys are definitely seasonal for fall but i kinda hate them

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 00:43 (fourteen years ago)

oh and embroidered wildlife / hunting patterns! like the dude in the tweed is wearing. also like this one of mine:

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 16 September 2011 01:11 (fourteen years ago)

haha aww shucks thanks

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

so after i posted about rugby shirts i stopped by the thrift on the way home and found a solid green one that fits pretty well! i think it'll look good under the navy puffer vest i found a couple weeks ago

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

i like rugby shirts. isabel marant did some women's rugby inspired styles last season that i really liked but couldn't justify spending that much on a casual weekend piece. might get one eventually since they show up a lot on ebay, i don't think they were super popular

quincie that coat is top class imo

isn't this, like, one of the perks of dating same sex? sharing clothes?

jaxon, Friday, 16 September 2011 06:28 (fourteen years ago)

speaking for myself here, but there is a weird tension that can occur between wanting to sleep with someone and wanting to look or dress like them. if you have compatible style & size with your partner it can be an added bonus but... it's not a good reason to get involved with anybody.

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 13:42 (fourteen years ago)

Rugby shirts and penny loafers, my god, this is like my junior high wardrobe.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Friday, 16 September 2011 13:57 (fourteen years ago)

trying really hard not to spend money on fall clothes but its soooo hard

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:00 (fourteen years ago)

i have been avoiding visiting clothing websites and then yesterday elmo linked to norse projects and i spent like half an hour trying to think of how i could reallocate my money just to get one sweater or something

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:01 (fourteen years ago)

actually though i am pretty set for fall, maybe *too* set, i have like 5 different jackets/sweatshirts, a million sweaters, thick shirts etc

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:03 (fourteen years ago)

this is not really my "look" and i cant afford it but i really love this patrik ervell jacket

http://www.patrikervell.com/product/detail/231/knit-baseball-jacket/black

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:04 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda want a big cable knit shawl collar seafarer type sweater but every time i tell ari about it she laughs at me

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:08 (fourteen years ago)

i really need new pants too and acne is no longer selling the ones i really liked

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

it is one of the universes great injustices that i am not obscenely rich, given that i have such good taste

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

max did you end up on that site because you like websites with miniature animated dudes who interact with you/wander around onscreen?

and my soul said you can't go there (schlump), Friday, 16 September 2011 14:10 (fourteen years ago)

how did you know about my fetish

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

i think it had informed some other area of your interests on ilx in the past, i forget what

and my soul said you can't go there (schlump), Friday, 16 September 2011 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

just because you dress like one doesn't mean you will become one though :/

and my soul said you can't go there (schlump), Friday, 16 September 2011 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

haha laurel, you might appreciate this: i put on a tartan shirt and tartan tie this morning... and i just realized that they are variants on the same tartan. and i layered a rugby shirt over it all. wtf scottish lol.

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

also, both tartans are of the clan that has the same name as my dog o_o

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:13 (fourteen years ago)

max there are a lot of varsity-styled jackets this season, it's def a thing now, i'm sure you could find one at a good price!

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:15 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda want a big cable knit shawl collar seafarer type sweater but every time i tell ari about it she laughs at me

it would be a nice gesture if she laughed all the way to the bank and then drew out some money and bought you one.

http://fashionstealer.com/PICTURES/STEALS/gant%20rugger/gant_rugger_nylon_varsity_jacket.png

gant rugger varsity jacket -- it's a nylon body instead of wool but it's p similar and it's on sale for ~$200 less than the ervell:

http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=20320982&CAWELAID=1003495375

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:23 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i like the wool though! also everything ive gotten from UO falls apart really fast

also real talk i cant really even afford a $100 jacket so while were *daydreaming* i might as well go for PE

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:25 (fourteen years ago)

also as i said i already have 3 different fall jackets + two sweatshirts + a number of flannels so its like the last thing i need

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:26 (fourteen years ago)

i got this ervell "fall shirt" last year when i was flush with cash and i love, love love love love love love it

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:26 (fourteen years ago)

i hear you on the UO stuff in general but gant rugger is actually p great quality

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:31 (fourteen years ago)

i would love that fall shirt! looks very wearable.

caek, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:39 (fourteen years ago)

caek, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:39 (fourteen years ago)

caek, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:43 (fourteen years ago)

i got mine at an opening ceremony sample sale

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:44 (fourteen years ago)

so...... move to new york!

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:44 (fourteen years ago)

oy!

caek, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

I ordered that Weekend by Max Mara (secondary line, still $$$ but not ridiculous for something I will wear every day, every winter, for at least a decade)! It is shipping from the UK from a place called matches that looks like my kinda store. Crossing my fingers that the UK 12 was a good call. Anyhow, thanking u ilx for recommending max mara and thus drastically streamlining my search for a camel coat.

(Note: the coat is 49% wool, 33% alpaca, 12% nylon, 6% angora. Should be very warm with the alpaca in there!)

quincie, Friday, 16 September 2011 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

how much was shipping?

caek, Friday, 16 September 2011 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

forty five US bucks!

quincie, Friday, 16 September 2011 15:53 (fourteen years ago)

coats man. heavy shit.

caek, Friday, 16 September 2011 16:02 (fourteen years ago)

yay q! hope it works out! i bet the UK 12 is right? i would have the same issue with uk size (10 or 12) and i usually err on the side of sizing up because if the shoulders don't fit, it's no good

also can i just make a comment: people are crazy. missoni for target? i know some of the crazy is just hype and marketing strategery but people! the stuff is still target quality and imo hideous! if you are going to troll ebay to buy missoni at a couple hundred a pop, dang, buy the real thing

daria-g, Friday, 16 September 2011 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

japanese teenagers gotta do SOMETHING to bide the time

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 16:49 (fourteen years ago)

the missoni thing is kinda funny, i had a friend who rapturously facebooked about the missoni lounge pants she scored. i mean. missoni lounge pants. c'mon.

sorry vah1d

Lamp, Friday, 16 September 2011 17:19 (fourteen years ago)

I kind of hate Missoni to begin with so I haven't understood this mania at all.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Friday, 16 September 2011 17:19 (fourteen years ago)

that sweater! dig the raglan sleeve

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

xpost yeah i hate it too - the prints, the colors, everything. completely not my style.

that sweater is great
