I have some lavender clip in hair extensions that I bought from Ulta... they are remy human hair, and I actually love them!

When they are in they blend into my hair really well.

These are the ones I bought

I saw a 40 something year old very matronly looking lady wearing those feather extensions in her hair today. It wasn't good.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:19 (fourteen years ago)

I think there's a way to wear these things without it looking gauche. When I do wear mine, I usually am wearing all black, and the pop of color is kinda cool. I also put them pretty far back on my head, underneath quite a bit of hair.

homosexual II, Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

The feathers are always horrible, though.

homosexual II, Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

x-post - yes, I could see that working well

The feather things need to die.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

I am puzzled by the feathers bc I always see fashionable young rich blondes wearing them and "feathers in your hair" seems like a non-mainstream thing.

Those etsy extensions are real hair.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

i hate those feather things!!!

tehresa, Thursday, 15 September 2011 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

i wish my hair would grow faster.

tehresa, Thursday, 15 September 2011 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

Me too.
Also many xps above re highlights: never underestimate the power of lowlights.
Also I'm dying the underneath layer of my hair purple and blue because my daughter wants me to look like this girl for winter http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110825223709/monsterhigh/images/3/39/MonsterHigh-Abbey7.png

You are one of the few ppl who could actually pull that off awesomely irl, sunny! Pics please!

quincie, Saturday, 17 September 2011 23:15 (fourteen years ago)

Ive decided to wait until after a work conference I'm attending a couple of weeks from now. Is purple hair okay in IT? Probably but I don't know for sure.

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Thursday, 22 September 2011 20:01 (fourteen years ago)

On TV it is.

quincie, Thursday, 22 September 2011 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

so tonight i decided to get my hair lowlighted and trimmed and again, this dude does the most amazing blowouts and my hair looks really great tonight, but surely spending ridiculous amounts of money (i'm embarrassed; i think his prices went up?) is insane for an end result that probably only i can notice.

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 03:47 (fourteen years ago)

like i know ppl pay a lot of money for a 'natural' look but i also feel like i should have some kind of hugely noticeable difference for paying a lot of money!

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 03:48 (fourteen years ago)

i made a point of tipping the shampoo girl bc she said she enjoyed playing with my hair and that it was the ideal texture for stylists to work with. lol, crafty. i bet she tells everyone this.

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 03:50 (fourteen years ago)

idk, if it makes you feel good, then it's worth the $$ imo.

just1n3, Saturday, 24 September 2011 04:21 (fourteen years ago)

i think part of it is principle... i've had some really complex things done to my hair for a lot less money.

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 04:41 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, gonna get mine coloured/highlighted again in a couple of weeks and although I love the colour, the whole deal takes not much time, is pretty straight forward, and costs stupid amounts. I would like to ask about getting lowlights as well as highlights but then I would be paying such silly money that I would feel embarrassed. (Probably. I guess I should ask).

ljubljana, Saturday, 24 September 2011 12:32 (fourteen years ago)

Cost per wear of hair totally justifies $$$, imo. I mean as long as you aren't going into stupid crazy debt or anything.

quincie, Saturday, 24 September 2011 14:36 (fourteen years ago)

Also: cheaper thatn eqivalent time with therapist amirite?

quincie, Saturday, 24 September 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

Yes but like T, I expect to be, you know, transformed into a different person!

ljubljana, Saturday, 24 September 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

Also my hair expenses are in addition to my therapist expenses.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 24 September 2011 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

okay. conference is over:

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:34 (fourteen years ago)

I like the color a lot!

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

I did it this morning before work after she had left for school. We shall see!

Good thing I've got you guys to give me props. Thanks, ladies

Great color! Love it!

quincie, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 13:19 (fourteen years ago)

I really want to get some wacky shortish messy thing going on with my hair but p sure that is incompatible with my helmeted scooting lyfestyle.

fried chicken makes Alex cry, who'd vote for such a wimpy guy? (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:31 (fourteen years ago)

You could shave half of it and never wash the rest, that would give it a lot of body! I saw a friend recently who's always had ropes and swags of wavy dark hair, and she cut nearly all of it off with a shaved-underneath-asymmetrical-flock-of-seagulls thing, and the brush cut underneath lifts up the longer top and makes it sculptural and I love it.

WE DO NOT HAVE "SECRET" "MEETINGS." I DO NOT HAVE A SECOND (Laurel), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

That actually sounds p awesome but I also have this possibly unfounded need to look at least a little like a "norm" who has "grooming habits" as I am now student teaching in a middles school and I already look & dress far different than all the other teachers. I decided to take a "stark arty nun" approach to buying work clothes.

fried chicken makes Alex cry, who'd vote for such a wimpy guy? (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:40 (fourteen years ago)

Also I have a round chubby face and I think something too stark would make me look like Taboo-producing-era Rosie O'Donnell.

fried chicken makes Alex cry, who'd vote for such a wimpy guy? (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:41 (fourteen years ago)

blah blah blah sorry
I love hair

fried chicken makes Alex cry, who'd vote for such a wimpy guy? (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:41 (fourteen years ago)

I think your face would outshine any old hair-did, but I do understand about the "hiding among normals" thing.

WE DO NOT HAVE "SECRET" "MEETINGS." I DO NOT HAVE A SECOND (Laurel), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:44 (fourteen years ago)

She works in a smarty pants research lab and is already a walking tattoo, she doesn't have to appear normal ever.

I get it Abbs -- no need to fly the freak flag on yr head when it will unfurl soon enough. Teaching requires a uniform sometimes, at least at the beginning.

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 15:44 (fourteen years ago)

anyway, i wear a little scarf over my hair and under the helmet, and it prevents most creases. a little muss after removing the helmet solves most problems, and i think we have similar hair (straight, fine) also with this method you get to muss your hair, which feels good each and every time.

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 15:46 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i understand the concerns about how you look when you're teaching--when i was student teaching last year i wore the dowdiest clothes i could find that were work-appropriate because i was anxious about having too much look. i was more just "nun" rather than "stark arty nun," which sounds kind of cool. but about the shape of your face + short, short hair. i was similarly anxious about getting short hair a while back for that reason, but i have to say, even though i was not entirely happy with the cut, it wasn't because my face looked like a potato with it or anything. i think that kind of thing is hard to predict and the round face=no short hair rule is not borne out. also i agree with Laurel that you would look adorable with any haircut.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah me too! Plus I'm sure I've seen some pics of you with short hair and thought it looked great. My round face is one of the reasons I didn't love my hair super short though so, while I still think it would look cute, I can understand that fear.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:17 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like the conventional wisdom about supershort hair on women is that only if you look like audrey hepburn, i.e. are gamine, can you pull it off and that annoys me and i have known many women who looked great with short hair who do not fit that description.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:17 (fourteen years ago)

That annoys me too because "gamine" translates to "thin and extremely small-boned" and really who wants to be a fragile fragile princess? I want to cut all my hair off so I can be more practical and sea-worthy! Harrumph.

WE DO NOT HAVE "SECRET" "MEETINGS." I DO NOT HAVE A SECOND (Laurel), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

i don't look anything like audrey hepburn but i am fairly small/petite and i did NOT like short hair on me. just depends on the person for sure. laurel why don't you chop off your hair and then i can make a wig out of it. for myself.

but seriously, my scarf + helmet trick works, try it

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like you could be characterized as gamine, Amanda, but you look way better than audrey hepburn.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

i guess to me, being small doesn't translate to being delicate/fragile
i feel like a firecracker most of the time
and i want big hair, dammit
