Repping for Bobbi Brown cream blush now (thank you Jenny!) Blends just fine.

ljubljana, Saturday, 27 August 2011 01:58 (fourteen years ago)

I have some Smashbox creme blush that blends fine too!

I was apprehensive though.

two weeks pass...

Hey - Tza - you get your birchbox yet this month?

I mine should be in the mail tonight but they updated my "box" page so I know I got the

nail decals
lip moisturizer
pangea organics face cream
some perfume sample

Psyched for everything except the perfume. Despite the fact that a perfume is the only full size thing I've actually bought from BB so far, getting those little vial samples just seems like a letdown since you can get them free anywhere.

Oh and I think I remember you writing about getting hair oil twice in a row, right? I didn't but I got last months (the amika one) and am not really a hair oil person so I've been using it on my cuticles and love it for that.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Tuesday, 13 September 2011 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

i got the same things!
i have wanted to try the nail stuff but i honestly don't know if i can pull off blue sparkles at work!

i really like the last month hair oil - i have used it pre-blow dry and it's a nice treatment.

tehresa, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 02:37 (fourteen years ago)

i bought the Revlon just bitten lip stain in another colour today: "Victorian" - it is like my lips but brighter! i love this stuff
i also bought an Essie nail polish called "big spender" lol :)
and i went to a spa/skin esthetics place and got some samples of face cream

have fun with your nail decals, tza & enbb! pics pls!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 03:11 (fourteen years ago)

i am digging this essie color called chinchilly - v pretty gray!

tehresa, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 03:39 (fourteen years ago)

ooh i will look for that! i have yet to buy a grey nail polish bc i haven't found the right grey...

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 03:44 (fourteen years ago)

http://www.product-girl.com/wp-content/uploads/Essie-Chinchilly.jpg

i love essie. i think their polishes dry better than opi, and i've discovered a lot of their polishes that look shimmery actually aren't. i tend to steer away from metallics/shimmers but a pedicurist once convinced me to try one and she was right - the shimmer is so fine, it just makes it look nice and shiny. (the gray is matte, though)

tehresa, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 03:51 (fourteen years ago)

essie is the best!

tza, I have that same gray on my toes right now...

homosexual II, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 04:28 (fourteen years ago)

I just watched Hackers for the umpteenth time and it's time for white nail polish to come back imo.

Black for summer, white for winter.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 13:55 (fourteen years ago)

Should I start wearing eyeshadow every day y/n

ljubljana, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 13:56 (fourteen years ago)

Tza - Maybe I'll try the hair oil on my hair then :)

I have used the Sally Hansen nail strips and they're OK! Not perfect but kind of fun since you can do designs and the no drying time is great. The ones I got are a sort of black and pink cheetah print. I think I'll do what I've done with some of the SH ones which is only use them on my ring fingers so that the overall effect isn't as full on.

I am digging the lip stuff this morning.

I almost got that grey on my nails last week but went for a summery color while I still could. I'll probably go for it next time. Love it.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 13:59 (fourteen years ago)

oh this is good to know about the shimmery essie polish! i've looked at them but shimmery stuff makes me feel like a teenager, but if this is more subtle, then yaay :)

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 14:47 (fourteen years ago)

i think the one i loved was long stem roses. so pretty.

tehresa, Thursday, 15 September 2011 01:03 (fourteen years ago)

Ordered two lighted make-up mirrors in quick succession from Amazon, both going back. One was too large a magnification, the other had flickering lights.

ljubljana, Friday, 23 September 2011 12:12 (fourteen years ago)

i got this one
a while ago and it's pretty decent. it also has a power point on it, great for the hair dryer.

just1n3, Friday, 23 September 2011 14:41 (fourteen years ago)

Thanks! I looked at that one and should have gone for it. Big trip to post office carrying lots of bulky return boxes coming up (mirrors plus Boden goods, though I kept the indigo jeans, but that's another thread...)

ljubljana, Friday, 23 September 2011 15:04 (fourteen years ago)

it also has a power point on it

so confused for a minute...

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Friday, 23 September 2011 18:56 (fourteen years ago)

haha, with effects and everything

ljubljana, Friday, 23 September 2011 19:07 (fourteen years ago)

i got that revlon lipstain tonight. nervous to try it!

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 01:35 (fourteen years ago)

Need a pale but not crazy pale mauve-pink lipstick that doesn't look 80s.

ljubljana, Saturday, 24 September 2011 01:42 (fourteen years ago)

OK, not need.

ljubljana, Saturday, 24 September 2011 01:43 (fourteen years ago)

ohhhh try that mac one... penny? i forget. i have it somewhere. enbb recommended.

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 01:59 (fourteen years ago)

Penny lane blush was recommended upthread, didn't find a lippy... ENBB, please shout if you recall it!

ljubljana, Saturday, 24 September 2011 02:41 (fourteen years ago)

ok i got up off the couch to go find it! it's syrup.

tehresa, Saturday, 24 September 2011 02:59 (fourteen years ago)

Thank you! That does look promising. OK, after math day next Wed, whatever the damn result, I'm going lippy shopping.

ljubljana, Saturday, 24 September 2011 03:02 (fourteen years ago)

i have discovered my new favourite thing and it is putting matte effect topcoat over my nail polish. bright colours with a dull surface, really feels classic.

octavio paz de la huerta (c sharp major), Monday, 3 October 2011 19:51 (fourteen years ago)

i also really really want this colour but i can't stomach the thought of spending eleven pounds on like 10ml of nail polish.

octavio paz de la huerta (c sharp major), Monday, 3 October 2011 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

Ooh, Sephora carries that line.

tokyo rosemary, Monday, 3 October 2011 21:51 (fourteen years ago)

the colours are fantastic, and the quality seem to be really good? but i think for the time being i might stick to wearing cheap nail polish with a luxury topcoat.

octavio paz de la huerta (c sharp major), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 10:45 (fourteen years ago)

I like the colors and the names!

tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

where can i get a matte topcoat?

homosexual II, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 16:19 (fourteen years ago)

OPI nail envy in matte is what I always used.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 16:21 (fourteen years ago)

Essie makes one, too.

tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 16:28 (fourteen years ago)

oh and BTW WTF!?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqas6ym_BuU

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:18 (fourteen years ago)

is this nail polish going to fuck up my credit cards?

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:19 (fourteen years ago)

oh and this is my plain purple which i <3

http://a248.g.akamai.net/7/248/8278/20110721091109/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/sku/1354448/1354448_sw.jpg

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:21 (fourteen years ago)

its actually darker than that but still muted

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:21 (fourteen years ago)

Well the magnetic effect isn't IN the polish, it's in the cap--right? Did I understand that correctly? The polish probably just has miniscule iron filings in it or something.

WE DO NOT HAVE "SECRET" "MEETINGS." I DO NOT HAVE A SECOND (Laurel), Monday, 10 October 2011 22:23 (fourteen years ago)

Yes correct. But nailpolish doesn't travel sans cap

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 01:51 (fourteen years ago)

Oh I see I have not understood the situation: my nail polish doesn't travel. it lives in my make-up bag until I throw it away after a few years, practically unused.

WE DO NOT HAVE "SECRET" "MEETINGS." I DO NOT HAVE A SECOND (Laurel), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 01:57 (fourteen years ago)

im chip-a-phobic so it travels

I just got back from a dream attack (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 16:36 (fourteen years ago)

um.. this is now the third time i've received a hair oil in my birchbox.
are my preferences too narrow?

tehresa, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 01:49 (fourteen years ago)

I would maybe try that. Also, if I were you I'd email them and ask not to receive a hair oil for a while. Just explain the situation and see what they say. Their customer service is supposed to be pretty great so it can't hurt. Right?

I after I review this month's box I'll have nearly $30 in bb points to spend. Can't decide whether to get a perfume or to get that crazy facial peel stuff. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 14:50 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i unchecked 'dry' from the hair prefs. how do you review? i can never find the place to review!

tehresa, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 21:57 (fourteen years ago)

Oh man - T, you have to review! You get 10 points for every review and every 100 pts is $10 towards a purchase. You go to where it says "box" and your items for that month are displayed. If you click on the individual items it'll take you to another page where there's a description. There's a big pink "add to cart" button sort of near the top of the text (under the product name but before the description) beneath which it says "give feedback". If you click there a little survey will pop up. Unfortunately you can't review things retroactively - only for the current month. Let me know if that all makes sense.
