Yeah, me too!!
They actually fit my big-ass feet really well and are really comfortable so far. I am plesantly surprised.
I also got the ones that were fake cork - i don't know if you remember those. They're good too! win/win.

Could I get some shoe help? I'm officiating a wedding in September and here is the dress I'm going to wear:
http://www.elizaparker.com/product_images/c/552/Eliza_Parker_Nantucket_Dress_Navy_Front__15574_zoom.jpg
I'm pretty sure I'm going to change the buttons to lighten it up a little bit, but I don't have any picked out.
So what shoes should I wear?
― ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Sunday, 31 July 2011 17:53 (fourteen years ago)
how much are you willing to spend?
― it was pleasant and delightful, just like (La Lechera), Sunday, 31 July 2011 18:02 (fourteen years ago)
Depends on the shoes. If they are not something I'm going to be able to wear regularly (anything with much of a heel, anything pointy, anything I can't put a custom orthotic in), then I don't want to spend much since I'll probably end up selling them on Ebay or giving them away. :/
― ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Sunday, 31 July 2011 18:05 (fourteen years ago)
are you wearing any jewelry with the outfit?
― just1n3, Sunday, 31 July 2011 18:07 (fourteen years ago)
Probably not any statement jewelry. Maybe a pin, depends on the buttons. Most likely scenario will be silver hoop earrings.
Re: price, don't worry about that too much. My normal shoe buying criteria are extremely practical, and I tend to shell out $$$ for a pair of shoes that I wear almost exclusively for a year or two, so I don't really know how to buy shoes for occasions. I'm mostly looking for style and color ideas, and then I'll take that information and use it to buy something that is orthopedically and financially appropriate.

i've been mulling these over lately
aerosoles "minor role"

maybe they would work? they're a little fruity, i know, but you know me.

Those are very you! Love the ribbon.

ha, that style was the same thing i was going to suggest!
― just1n3, Sunday, 31 July 2011 18:26 (fourteen years ago)
i think 'fruity' is good if you won't be wearing statement jewelry
― just1n3, Sunday, 31 July 2011 18:27 (fourteen years ago)
Okay, I'm going to run a few things by you folks if you don't mind. Some of these are out of my price range, but I'm throwing them out there for style critique. Sorry for the billion links. I would post images instead, but I'm at work and had to do this on Ye Olde iPhone.

Also - color. I am clearly attracted to red shoes, but that might be just because I'm attracted to red shoes in general. Would red shoes work for this dress? If not, what color should I look for? (Shameful confession: all of my shoes are black with the exception of one pair of red sneakers. It's just easier that way.)
― ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Monday, 1 August 2011 16:28 (fourteen years ago)
Jen!!! I think red shoes would be DELIGHTFUL with that dress. Let me get to my lunch period and then give those shoes a good look. But you know I'm going to nay-say anything with apparent plastic/rubber elements. Like if I can tell from a computer monitor that the heel and sole are man-made materials, then no.

Errr what else are the soles supposes to be made of?
I'm glad you are weighing in, Laurel.

Leather. :)

Or they should at least be covered with it, or another natural material, imo.

the rolling hills pumps are others that i've considered for fall work shoes! i like them a lot. red would work nicely with this dress. i also think at least a moderate heel is necessary for dressiness.
― it was pleasant and delightful, just like (La Lechera), Monday, 1 August 2011 17:10 (fourteen years ago)
Sorry, I was rushed and on the phone and stuff, I don't care what SOLES are made of, though leather is still nicer. But I don't like to see plastic heels, or big rubber bumpers around the sides, or whatever. Anyway!

Match these to yr dress? Can't tell from here whether the color is close enough, but you know, it's another option:

Yay! Love these suggestions. I was leaning heavily towards sandals of some sort so you are steering me in new directions!
Don't worry about heel height, either. ALL of these (including many of my own selection) are too high, but I will either find an appropriate substitute or deal with it (depends on how much public walking I will do).
I don't think anybody will be unhappy if I wear red shoes but I want to blend in with the background for the most part (I accidentally matched the dress to the wedding colors even!).
The dress is real life is a really dark navy, almost black, so I think it will be hard to match that.
So if I don't go with red, what color should I look for? Tan?
XP OMG those Rockports! I would never in a million years looked twice at them but they are maybe perfect?
― ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Monday, 1 August 2011 17:46 (fourteen years ago)
I don't find browns and tans to be formal enough, usually. Wd go with a metallic or a blush-pink/taupe or something before I'd wear actual brown for a wedding.

What about these? I know you said tan is too informal for a wedding but it is not a super formal wedding and I like the style, plus it's a good heel height and it comes in my giant foot size, and while it's a little over my preferred price point, it's reasonable because they are practical enough that I can wear them again. However, I will defer to the shoe experts if this is the Wrong Direction:
http://www.zappos.com/culture-phit-lila-tan
Also, I really like that toe. It's clever.
I'm still looking! I'm not totally sold on those.

I never have any success wearing slingbacks. They're always either too tight or loose enough that the back falls down a bit and gets walked on and the shoes fall off. I have to be securely strapped into my shoes (no clog types) so I can't be dealing with that. Other than that those are cute.
Would totally go with red shoes, but again, that's just me :)
