Boi-ing is my favorite concealer. That shit is like spackle.

Sounds kind of icky.

Does it blend ok?
― ljubljana, Saturday, 4 June 2011 21:32 (fifteen years ago)
this month's birchbox is nice! i got a weleda wild rose facial cream sample which is great because i've always wanted to try it. i also got what appears to be a full size laura geller bronzer. as i've mentioned before, i'm too pale for bronzer. now i feel compelled to experiment w/ it, but i'm afraid i will look really dirty.
― tehresa, Saturday, 11 June 2011 15:33 (fifteen years ago)
Oh shoot, I missed this. I think so! It's a little dense for under eyes, but it's good for spots.
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Saturday, 11 June 2011 15:50 (fifteen years ago)
T - interesting - I also got the full size l geller which is sort of amazing because that's like 30 bucks! I've always also thought I'm too pale for bronzer but this seems more like a blush/highlighter combo? In any event I LOVE it. It's sorta bronzy but I think it's working for me. I didn't get the moisterizer which is a shame cause I've always wanted to try that too. Let me know what u think.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Saturday, 11 June 2011 18:36 (fifteen years ago)
i will definitely give it a host. i'm just nervous!!
i also got a skin hydrator (tbh i don't know what the real purpose of these is) that smells delicious. and some nail polish remover gloves? haha. and a nice kate spade perfume sample.
― tehresa, Saturday, 11 June 2011 18:59 (fifteen years ago)
a host? a try. no idea where that came from.
Any white liquid liners to recommend?
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, May 29, 2011 4:13 PM (1 week ago) Bookmark
Christine, TOKIDOKI have a white liquid eyeliner with a chisel tip that gets pretty good reviews on sephora. waterproof too!
Sephora brand also has one but its sheer opalescent white.
Ulta have something that looks like it would be white but maybe not?
Stay away from NYX and Mistique
― Serial Chiller (sunny successor), Saturday, 11 June 2011 20:35 (fifteen years ago)
oh and if you feel like you could use a gel eyeliner Starry have one called Snow White and is supposed to be really opaque. Brush comes with for $6.95 on amazon.
― Serial Chiller (sunny successor), Saturday, 11 June 2011 20:38 (fifteen years ago)
i am trying this laura geller bronzer thing from the birchbox. i feel weird.
― tehresa, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 15:14 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah. I still think it's a nice bronzer and product overall but somehow the tan thing doesn't feel right to me. I'm just used to being pale and rosy cheeked, not bronzy. IDK.
I did wind up loving the Kate Spade perfume. I bought the full size already.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 15:28 (fifteen years ago)
it's really nice!!
― tehresa, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 15:38 (fifteen years ago)
The perfume? It's one of my favorites ever. It's not too floral or too fruity - it's just a nice mix, I think. The bottle it comes in is really pretty too.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 15:46 (fifteen years ago)
i think i like the bulgari got last month better, but they are VERY different and both good!
i feel like the wild rose lotion is too perfumey :(
― tehresa, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:00 (fifteen years ago)
:( Yeah not into perfume creams on my face. That's the one thing you got that i didn't though so it's cool to know what you thought about it.
I still have no clue what to do with that moisture mist. It smells good though.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:01 (fifteen years ago)
i am thinking i may use it post-pool this summer?
― tehresa, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:03 (fifteen years ago)
Oh which bulgari was it? THey make great perfumes. I used to use this one: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P112814
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:03 (fifteen years ago)
Good plan re: the mist.
this one.
― tehresa, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 16:04 (fifteen years ago)
I have the Maybelline brown/black mascara for the colour but don't like the quality. Looking for an alternative very dark brown mascara, but they all seem to be mid-brown.
― ljubljana, Saturday, 25 June 2011 15:47 (fifteen years ago)
Is this something like the mineral water misters that were intended to 'set' makeup (whatever they meant by that)?
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 04:35 (fifteen years ago)
I think I had one of those once, overdid it, achieved opposite effect.
― ljubljana, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 11:20 (fifteen years ago)
I'm interested in mascara suggestions, too. I recently started using it and decided I like it. I have a sample tube of Sephora in black that seems fine but I don't ha e much to compare it to. So what are everybody's favorite brands? Drug store, fancy brand, it matters not. (I actually am kind of interested in a fancy brand to try because the difference between drug store blush and the Bobby Brown and drug store (and even Sephora house brand) eye shadow and that Smashbox pallet are night and day.)
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 15:41 (fifteen years ago)
I have tried all kinds of mascara and my all time favorite is L'Oreal Voluminous. The fancypants brand that lots of people rave about is Diorshow and I really didn't see the big deal. Every now and then I'll try another but Voluminous has consistently won out.
Christine - yeah, I think it's supposed to be something like that. Still not 100% sure. IT says it contains "heavy water" which surely is just something they've made up.

Xp!!! Huh. Wikipedia says heavy water is a real thing and assures us all it is not radioactive.
Thanks for the recs!

I got a sample of Bourjois' Volumizer mascara - it has two wands, one lengthens, the second adds weight.. it's pretty great! The applicator is a bit messy so I have to wipe it once in a while but it's done incredible things to my lashes, I must say!
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 15:58 (fifteen years ago)
O_O
I didn't know re: heavy water! Still not sure what it's supposed to do though. It just makes my face wet. NAGL.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 15:59 (fifteen years ago)
That sounds like a pretty silly product.
― I'll show you the power of laughter! (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 16:00 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I think it is.
It smells nice and tropical though. Like T said I think it'll be good at the beach or poolside.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 16:02 (fifteen years ago)
xp Two wands seems kind of advanced… I'll probably blind myself or set my apartment on fire.
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 16:06 (fifteen years ago)
It's pretty fun! They sort of slide into each other or something. So first you unscrew the 'top' wand (i.e. how you have used every tube of mascara ever) but then you stick that one back in and unscrew from the middle of the tube and get the big, thick wand! No fire possibilities ;)

This might be useful re mascaras, although I can't comment as I went to Sephora before reading that and looked at every single one. Went home with a Bare Escentuals Buxom one because the brush looked cool but the brush is actually pretty massive. I remember seeing the Phenomen'Eyes one she raves about but it seemed a bit clumpy, no doubt from being on a Sephora display. The Chanel Inimitable I used to love seems a bit flaky on me now, with little fibres bunching up.
― kinder, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 17:19 (fifteen years ago)
I second Voluminous in Carbon Black, though if I'm wearing undereye concealer it kinda melts into it and creates racoon eyes. So if concealer=yes, mascara=Maybelline Lash Exact Waterproof, which wears like iron. Iron, I tell you! Hard as hell to get off.
― quincie, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 20:39 (fifteen years ago)
voluminous also melts on me. i'm a cover girl lash exact/lash blast girl. dior show also made me a racoon.
― tehresa, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 21:42 (fifteen years ago)
lols @ GI JOE learnin'
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 21:49 (fifteen years ago)
i still use Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara. i've tried many others - did not like Dior Show, too clumpy, brush too big, and find voluminous a bit too matte or something, but haven't tried it in many years so maybe it's changed. but anyway, i always go back to this clinique one because it never causes raccoon eyes or makes my eyes hurt or anything. it's not super dramatic though - great for daytime but maybe not yr thing at night if you're looking for faaaab eyelashes. clinique does make one for that too, which i like, actually.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 21:52 (fifteen years ago)
i am right now into BRONZE EYESHADOW over a thin line of dark brown eyeshadow used as eyeliner. it is pretty and summery and only slightly drama.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 21:53 (fifteen years ago)
that sounds pretty!
― horseshoe, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 21:54 (fifteen years ago)
i have made no progress at all with eyeshadow experimentation
― horseshoe, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 21:55 (fifteen years ago)
I feel like that Smashbox eyeshadow box was like a key to magical eyeshadow land and now I get how it works. I have also accepted that I'm never going to be one of those bright color Mac eyeshadow ladies and am enjoying gaining some basic competence with neutral (on me) colors.
Ohohoh also - Smashbox eyeshadow primer! I accidentally went hiking in 90 degree direct sunlight on Saturday and my eye makeup looked GREAT. I credit that primer.
Mascara is still daunting. I was hoping you would all love one kind and I could just get that. I don't want raccoon eyes. I don't really care about drama. I don't want clumps or spider lashes or lashes that look false. I think my lashes are sufficiently long/thick but they are just very light brown.
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 22:09 (fifteen years ago)
I have all the mascara-application confidence in the world, but puny little eyelashes. I wish wearing falsies was easier.
― Fa la la (La Lechera), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 22:10 (fifteen years ago)
yeah! i got a copper eyeliner that is really cool!xpost
i am wondering if i should attempt to use that laura geller bronzer as an eyeshadow.
― tehresa, Tuesday, 28 June 2011 22:13 (fifteen years ago)
what is the smashbox box? link?
Oh! Sephora brand eyeshadow crayon comes in a lovely color of orange/bronze that I would recommend wholeheartedly. I like it for occasions when I want to wear something between neutral and purple.
