Wait a second -- could i possibly be reading this right?! you have had the same haircut since you were a child and you're 40?! Never once strayed from the haircut your parents gave you? Tell me this is an exaggeration.

HEY ANYONE. Is there a makeup that will seriously cover a tattoo if you had to go to a formal event in a strapless dress and didn't want it showing? It's not for me, it's for...a friend. No seriously, I don't have any tattoos. But I would love to know if there is such a product.

There has to be if porn actresses are any indication.
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 01:29 (fifteen years ago)
Facebook supplied the answer: Dermablend.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Thursday, 24 March 2011 01:32 (fifteen years ago)
there was a thing on the hairpin that mentioned using dermablend just last month! http://thehairpin.com/2011/02/put-makeup-on-your-legs
― c sharp major, Thursday, 24 March 2011 01:41 (fifteen years ago)
I've used dermablend to cover one of mine and it worked perfectly. That stuff is magic.
― ENBB, Thursday, 24 March 2011 01:42 (fifteen years ago)
That link is helpful – I could have covered my tats up for my siblings' weddings rather than wearing cardigans & sweaters & hand-knit shawls in the summer.
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 01:43 (fifteen years ago)
Tehresa, I would like to check out a v v light gold eyeshadow base! What do you use?
― ljubljana, Thursday, 24 March 2011 01:55 (fifteen years ago)
that kat von d stuff at sephora is supposed to be good for tattoo coverage?? and i think maybe cover fx foundation
― just1n3, Thursday, 24 March 2011 02:50 (fifteen years ago)
LOL at KVD making a tattoo cover-up makeup.I told my sister I liked the eyeshadow base, and she said, "Kat Von D is a whore. ...you know she didn't come up with that makeup, right?"Harsh!
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 02:51 (fifteen years ago)
right now i'm using mac nanogold, which i found at an outlet so i'm worried the shade is discontinued and i won't be able to get it when it runs out. stila also has some really nice pale golds, but i like the mac because it's a bit less "GOLD EYESHADOW" and more of a highlighter for my lids?
― tehresa, Thursday, 24 March 2011 13:02 (fifteen years ago)
y'all inspired me and am rocking the pale gold (some Stilla shade) with purple liner combo today :)
― ENBB, Thursday, 24 March 2011 13:21 (fifteen years ago)
that is my favorite combo :D
― tehresa, Thursday, 24 March 2011 16:24 (fifteen years ago)
yeah I'm really into it!
― ENBB, Thursday, 24 March 2011 19:27 (fifteen years ago)
ooh, good ideai hardly ever wear eye shadow. i think i have teh same issue as you, tza, because i am very pale and have a pink undertone to my skin, so brown eyeshadow, and many colours really, kinda make my face look dirty/bruised o_O dnw
i just learned how to do my brows though! it is kind of a revelation. how often i will actually do them (properly or at all), i do not know, but still.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 24 March 2011 20:04 (fifteen years ago)
i think the importance of well-groomed eyebrows is under-appreciated. i have naturally pretty nicely shaped, tidy eyebrows, and even my face totally benefits from some careful plucking and shaping.
― just1n3, Thursday, 24 March 2011 20:07 (fifteen years ago)
oh man my brain doesn't function right if my eyebrows are wild.
I always wanted an Audrey from Twin Peaks arch (more of a peak really) but my brows/browbones just don't roll that way.

haha i always just wanted to look like audrey from twin peaks!
― tehresa, Thursday, 24 March 2011 21:27 (fifteen years ago)
Audrey is one of my eyebrow heroines. Also Kiera Knightly in The Duchess, which I have probably mentioned before.
I am all about my eyebrows. Even when I wear no other make up, which is pretty much any day I don't have to work, I will use a little eyebrow pencil.
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Thursday, 24 March 2011 21:29 (fifteen years ago)
i would venture that anyone who has seen audrey has wanted to look like audreyi wanted to be her SO BAD in high school
― Ralpharina (La Lechera), Thursday, 24 March 2011 21:38 (fifteen years ago)
Oh man I just figured out eyebrow pencil. Feels fucking crazy + awesome having visible eyebrows (except for my longy long bangs).
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:36 (fifteen years ago)
Just started using clear eyebrow gelagain, something I've been using off and on for a decade or two.

jenny -- i meant to thank you for the purple eyeshadow duo. i've worn it two times now, and i gotta say -- it's like practically invisible? am i crazy? i had to apply apply apply before i could even see it. i guess maybe that's aveda "natural" makeup or something. maybe i'm accustomed to high pigment artificial shit or something. either way, it's good for work because it's pretty but not PURPLE like my sephora store brand eye crayon (which i love, but is a bit much for work)
also my eyes have been mad bloodshot lately, and it's like having bloodshot headlights -- just nagl.
― Ralpharina (La Lechera), Wednesday, 30 March 2011 03:16 (fifteen years ago)
Manson lamps.
I just worked that it's my moisturizer that leaves me red eyed most days too.
Also, I just got urban decays shadow pencil in morphine ( pale purple) and delinquent ( dark violet) and they look so bitchin' I'm in loves. I wish they made a green/gold one though.
― calling planet dearth (sunny successor), Wednesday, 30 March 2011 05:34 (fifteen years ago)
I thought it was really light, too, Amanda! I had to put a ton on to even be able to see it, and since purple is not a great color for me (I've worn it successfully in the past, but it's kind of hit or miss whether it will look nice or make me look like somebody punched me in the eyes) it ended up looking... off. I'm glad it's a good, subtle work-appropriate purple for you!
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Wednesday, 30 March 2011 12:29 (fifteen years ago)

― Ralpharina (La Lechera), Wednesday, 30 March 2011 15:01 (fifteen years ago)
kinda loving this new job! we just sold off our old stock to ourselves and I bought at least $1K worth of product (mostly foundation, concealer, brushes and some perfume) for $120. I bought lots of doubles, so that I can give to my sister. crazy! got 2x Sm@shb0x primer and a million By T3rry products (which makeup school-trained coworker urged me towards. $60 brushes for $2! jesus). so badass.

ok so this is like the coolest eyeliner ever. played with it yesterday and it does NOT smudge but is super easy to work with.
i wanted to get it from sephora so i could get beauty insider points, but sephora does not carry the plum riche shade i want in-store or online. boo. have to wait til next pay period anyway.
― coming from me, who has written many bestsellers (tehresa), Sunday, 10 April 2011 17:41 (fifteen years ago)
also got my first ever chanel foundation! ooooh.
I am such a slave to Beauty Insider Points.
― phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale: (Jenny), Sunday, 10 April 2011 18:03 (fifteen years ago)
i mean, that eyeliner requires at least a $42 investment (activator plus the cake) and i'd probably want a new brush, too ,so..
― coming from me, who has written many bestsellers (tehresa), Sunday, 10 April 2011 18:06 (fifteen years ago)
Tehresa I am a cake eyeliner devotee and I tried out the Laura Mercier in the blue shade, and it was too close to back. I wanted a real navy--not a blue-black, and ended up getting some off Amazon for way cheap, along with a maroon color. Brand is Prestige or something like that.
IME "activator" does not do anything that plain old H20 doesn't do.
A good brush is U&K for cake eyeliner, true!
― quincie, Sunday, 10 April 2011 21:52 (fifteen years ago)
I am totally bummed that I missed the cosmetics outing, too--I spent the whole day in bed nursing a headache and jet lag, only to wake up to HIVES. On my FACE.
Daria I really want to hear about how you like the Chanel powder! I need a new powder for light coverage + oil control + setting concealer.
― quincie, Sunday, 10 April 2011 21:54 (fifteen years ago)
YSL Touche Brilliance is going to change my life.* It depuffed me instantly.

this 'activator' almost seemed to double as a sealant, which was the most attractive thing to me.
― coming from me, who has written many bestsellers (tehresa), Sunday, 10 April 2011 23:54 (fifteen years ago)
i am going to dream about that ysl eye pen, also.
hope you are feeling better q!
i got chanel blush (rose tweed) instead of powder.. and a primer from laura mercier. i'll see how that goes, i still have some regular old neutrogena powder to use up before i buy a new one. i like the blush so far, i don't usually wear any but this is OK, it's very very light.
― daria-g, Monday, 11 April 2011 00:32 (fifteen years ago)
all of their blushes were so lovely!
― coming from me, who has written many bestsellers (tehresa), Monday, 11 April 2011 00:51 (fifteen years ago)
oh dear. so this morning i was doing my makeup with my nice new foundation and realized that i should probably toss all my other makeup and start over with nice, new makeup. it just does not seem fair to my good foundation to pair it with old crap. this is a problem.
― coming from me, who has written many bestsellers (tehresa), Monday, 11 April 2011 15:54 (fifteen years ago)
good foundation/primers can oomph up the cheap stuff you put on top IMO! but now that I have Smashbox eyeshadow I could never go back to CoverGirl.

^^^^^truth
― calling planet dearth (sunny successor), Monday, 11 April 2011 17:21 (fifteen years ago)
(the cant go back part) although Ive actually dissed my smashbox foundation for an old bottle of covergirl clean foundation I had and I like it so much better than any dept store foundation Ive used. Maybe its like your wardrobe - sometimes the pricey thing works for you and sometimes the cheap classic from the thrift store pulls it all together etc etc
― calling planet dearth (sunny successor), Monday, 11 April 2011 17:26 (fifteen years ago)
i mean, i have been using like, nice brands (mac, clinique, nars) but it's all really old and i feel like i need a fresh start for everything.
― coming from me, who has written many bestsellers (tehresa), Monday, 11 April 2011 17:29 (fifteen years ago)
I do love my CG foundation too! I used some of the more $$$ foundation that I mentioned purchasing, above, and it feels about the same except I feel "fancier" strictly because I know the stuff is more expensive. haha.
