xp The wig thing came to my mind too, but there's no way I'd be able to afford one.

Oh you're so doing the break-up haircut! :)
I love them all tbh. Which are you leaning towards? I sort of have the middle one going on as of last week.
― ENBB, Friday, 25 February 2011 20:38 (fifteen years ago)
Laurel you have good taste in haircuts...I saved those pics to my haircut file for future reference!
― wizards of wonder are the keepers of knowledge (Abbbottt), Friday, 25 February 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)
Break up, nothing! I haven't had a hair cut in 6 months or spent any money on myself: no moisturizer, no hair products, no cuts or color, no hoisery, no new foundation or make-ups, nothing. I need EVERYTHING now.
Leaning towards the bottom, prob, because let's face it: I am not going to blow-dry or straight-iron my hair every day. I don't even OWN a straight iron. So I'd like it to look good mussy. I'll have to get that volume on top somehow but I'm thinking...spray wax? Eh.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Friday, 25 February 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)
I actually love my spray wax for the volume up top part. It works really well for that.
― ENBB, Friday, 25 February 2011 20:44 (fifteen years ago)
Oh and girl it sounds like you have some beauty product shopping to do. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE. :)
― ENBB, Friday, 25 February 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)
Alternative to spray wax: Don't wash for three days, add cornstarch to roots to mop up oil, get another 2-3 days of wear out of it with 2 or 3x the volume. Ahhhhh laziness, my old friend.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Friday, 25 February 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)
Glad to help, Abbott! I love inverted & asymmetrical bobs, but these days you have to sidestep the Posh/Paris whirlpool that accounts for about half the GIS results.
EN: I will! Mario Badescu, on the list. Spray wax, on the list. Matte black nail polish, on the list. New glasses, on the motherfucking LIST.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Friday, 25 February 2011 20:49 (fifteen years ago)
I can't go more than one day without washing mine. :( I did use the cornstarch trick a couple weeks ago though and it was awesome!
― ENBB, Friday, 25 February 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)
Mario Badescu on the list - I've been using the green enzyme cleanser and I LOVE it. It smells amazing.
― ENBB, Friday, 25 February 2011 20:54 (fifteen years ago)
The drying cream is magic.

Close, but that's the lotion. They make a cream one with a cement-like consistency, that stays where it's put. That one.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:17 (fifteen years ago)
Oh, I know which one you mean - I think I had a sample of it once.
― ENBB, Friday, 25 February 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)
i can't see the middle photo bc it's too big and i'm on this totally sketchy wifi at work BUT i lovelovelove that mussed-up asymmetrical bob look! i've been using a volumizing mousse in my hair which is pretty good, but the true revelation that i have had is motherfuckingTEASING my hair - using a round boar bristle brush. gives me awesome volume, no more flat cowpat hair anymore!!!
― just1n3, Friday, 25 February 2011 21:23 (fifteen years ago)
laurel i love the first one!i used to LOVE LOVE LOVE spray wax when i had shorter hair. yay!!!
― tehresa, Saturday, 26 February 2011 00:10 (fifteen years ago)
i love the first and the third. not crazy about the second at all. the first looks like a whole lot of styling invoved though? my vote is for the third. so cuet!
also on beauty product buying - smashbox is having a 25%-50% sale RIGHT NOW

i love this style of haircut, with the layered long thick whisps in front - do it, laurel!i'm thinking about growing my hair long again. it needs some serious attention right now though, as any semblance of layers have grown out. i like the front longer like in these pics!

loreal mousse sublime: has anyone used this?
i am feeling like i should dye my hair?
― tehresa, Friday, 11 March 2011 20:37 (fifteen years ago)
I wish my mother would stop nagging me to dye my hair. I like salt-and-pepper hair.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Friday, 11 March 2011 20:48 (fifteen years ago)
Is there a particular hair style that works well for wearing a helmet? Is there a helmet-hair-proof hairstyle (besides the Sinéad O'Connor)?
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:37 (fifteen years ago)
Straight styles with fine hair that lies really flatly on the head to begin with? Requires actually having straight, fine hair.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:40 (fifteen years ago)
That is the type of hair I have. Well it has a bend to it at the bottom but overall it loves to be flat.
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:41 (fifteen years ago)
Well then what's the problem?
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:42 (fifteen years ago)
My hair looks groos & flat when I take the helmet off but I guess that is just an unavoidable thing.
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:43 (fifteen years ago)
I was kidding, sorry about that. Helmets just do that? Usually this is where people say "Wouldn't you rather HAVE a head attached to your body to have funny-looking hair on it?" but I wouldn't say that because I don't even wear a helmet for that reason.
― go peddle your bullshit somewhere else sister (Laurel), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:45 (fifteen years ago)
I was going to say I have an unnatural attachment to my head, but no, my neck is pretty natural.I can't decide if growing it out or leaving it short wld be better but that is an eternal question.
― Looking Man (Abbbottt), Thursday, 24 March 2011 23:47 (fifteen years ago)
i have tried all lengths, and nothing cures the helmet head HOWEVER sometimes wearing a scarf between head and helmet helps to smooth things. we pretty much have the same hair, so i can say with confidence that this may help you.
i also commend you for wearing a helmethelmet head is much more attractive than head trauma

otm.
― tehresa, Friday, 25 March 2011 01:32 (fifteen years ago)
i got my hair did today :) first time since early january. one of those cuts where there's all this hair on the floor afterward but the hair left on yr head doesn't look all the different. layers, baby, layers. diggin it.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 1 April 2011 20:21 (fifteen years ago)
i keep thinking "body wave" but i am so scared.
― tehresa, Friday, 1 April 2011 20:51 (fifteen years ago)
aka a perm??
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Saturday, 2 April 2011 13:20 (fifteen years ago)
my friend the hairdresser would prob suggest just sleeping in rollers whenever you want more waves/volume, but i also know that perms, i mean body waves, are still a thing that people get for sure
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Saturday, 2 April 2011 13:24 (fifteen years ago)
yeah it's just like, a larger barrel/looser curl. i always look retarded when i do rollers because i can't get things going in the right direction, etc. but whenever i take a lot of time with a curling iron i love how it looks. i dunno i mean i just love the idea of something like this:http://static.becomegorgeous.com/img/articles/whats_a_body_wave_perm.jpg or http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Uploads/PressReleases2/Chemical-Body-Waves-83264_image.jpgbut i could never achieve these looks on my own.
― tehresa, Saturday, 2 April 2011 14:09 (fifteen years ago)
do you have any natural wave in your hair already though? i think those looks are totally achieved by rollers and curling irons and hair-dryer skillz! (and possibly a few choice hair extensions)perms are better now than they used to be, of course, but are still kinda damaging, obv
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Saturday, 2 April 2011 15:02 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah I honestly just don't have the time/patience to do that look using rollers/irons on the reg. Requires tons of product and never lasts as long as I want. My hair is pretty straight. It waves a tiny bit now that it's long but not in any kind of useful way.
― tehresa, Saturday, 2 April 2011 17:10 (fifteen years ago)
Since I stopped dying my hair a year ago I was thinking I could stand a chemical process and maybe curls would make up for lame/dull color?
*shrug*
― tehresa, Saturday, 2 April 2011 17:11 (fifteen years ago)
The problem I always found with perms is that I still had to mess with rollers/curling iron/etc. The curls "took" better, but if I just let it dry naturally, my post-perm hair would be a bundle of frizz.
I'm going to try out that Loreal 10 minute mousse semiperm color stuff tomorrow, btw.
― Jaq, Saturday, 2 April 2011 17:51 (fifteen years ago)
Oh def lemme know how it works out! My mom's here and her color looks great - she said it was a clairol mousse.
― tehresa, Saturday, 2 April 2011 18:46 (fifteen years ago)
I'll do before and after photos if I remember! I got a medium golden brown shade.
― Jaq, Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:30 (fifteen years ago)
I actually asked my hair stylist about body waves recently because I was thinking of growing mine out and getting one. She said that she really doesn't recommend them for people who want to wear their hair wavy and that the only time she really does them is for people who have really thin hair and need the volume but that they'll then blow it straight.
― ENBB, Saturday, 2 April 2011 21:41 (fifteen years ago)
got my hair cut, realized there's a lot more grey in there than i thought! ugh. i'll have to start dying it within a year if this keeps up
― daria-g, Saturday, 2 April 2011 23:00 (fifteen years ago)
hate that! there's this really wiry one that always calls attention to itself after i blow dry :(
― tehresa, Sunday, 3 April 2011 01:02 (fifteen years ago)
I tried the mousse and it was more of light caramel texture. sucked ass.
― calling planet dearth (sunny successor), Sunday, 3 April 2011 08:15 (fifteen years ago)
that said, tza, i cant see how look number could be wrong in anyway. its perfect
― calling planet dearth (sunny successor), Sunday, 3 April 2011 08:16 (fifteen years ago)
yeah tza i think jaq and enbb otm about getting a body wave - you would still have spend almost as much time on your hair every day.
well, i am having the best hair days of my entire life - this has been going on for a few months now, after a lifetime of pretty much bad hair days 90% of the time. oh and i have cut down to only washing my hair 3 times a week. i didn't think i could ever do this but with my job it makes it easy (i'm not dealing w/ppl). plus, after a couple of weeks of only washing every second day, it started looking a little less greasy on the unwashed days. and the days when i do wash it, it looks better than normal.
