Break up, nothing! I haven't had a hair cut in 6 months or spent any money on myself: no moisturizer, no hair products, no cuts or color, no hoisery, no new foundation or make-ups, nothing. I need EVERYTHING now.

Leaning towards the bottom, prob, because let's face it: I am not going to blow-dry or straight-iron my hair every day. I don't even OWN a straight iron. So I'd like it to look good mussy. I'll have to get that volume on top somehow but I'm thinking...spray wax? Eh.

I actually love my spray wax for the volume up top part. It works really well for that.

Oh and girl it sounds like you have some beauty product shopping to do. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE. :)

Alternative to spray wax: Don't wash for three days, add cornstarch to roots to mop up oil, get another 2-3 days of wear out of it with 2 or 3x the volume. Ahhhhh laziness, my old friend.

Mario Badescu on the list - I've been using the green enzyme cleanser and I LOVE it. It smells amazing.

Close, but that's the lotion. They make a cream one with a cement-like consistency, that stays where it's put. That one.

i can't see the middle photo bc it's too big and i'm on this totally sketchy wifi at work BUT i lovelovelove that mussed-up asymmetrical bob look! i've been using a volumizing mousse in my hair which is pretty good, but the true revelation that i have had is motherfuckingTEASING my hair - using a round boar bristle brush. gives me awesome volume, no more flat cowpat hair anymore!!!

loreal mousse sublime: has anyone used this?

i am feeling like i should dye my hair?

I wish my mother would stop nagging me to dye my hair. I like salt-and-pepper hair.

Is there a particular hair style that works well for wearing a helmet? Is there a helmet-hair-proof hairstyle (besides the Sinéad O'Connor)?

Straight styles with fine hair that lies really flatly on the head to begin with? Requires actually having straight, fine hair.

That is the type of hair I have. Well it has a bend to it at the bottom but overall it loves to be flat.

My hair looks groos & flat when I take the helmet off but I guess that is just an unavoidable thing.

I was kidding, sorry about that. Helmets just do that? Usually this is where people say "Wouldn't you rather HAVE a head attached to your body to have funny-looking hair on it?" but I wouldn't say that because I don't even wear a helmet for that reason.

I was going to say I have an unnatural attachment to my head, but no, my neck is pretty natural.
I can't decide if growing it out or leaving it short wld be better but that is an eternal question.

i have tried all lengths, and nothing cures the helmet head HOWEVER sometimes wearing a scarf between head and helmet helps to smooth things. we pretty much have the same hair, so i can say with confidence that this may help you.

i got my hair did today :) first time since early january. one of those cuts where there's all this hair on the floor afterward but the hair left on yr head doesn't look all the different. layers, baby, layers. diggin it.

i keep thinking "body wave" but i am so scared.

my friend the hairdresser would prob suggest just sleeping in rollers whenever you want more waves/volume, but i also know that perms, i mean body waves, are still a thing that people get for sure

yeah it's just like, a larger barrel/looser curl. i always look retarded when i do rollers because i can't get things going in the right direction, etc. but whenever i take a lot of time with a curling iron i love how it looks. i dunno i mean i just love the idea of something like this:

i think those looks are totally achieved by rollers and curling irons and hair-dryer skillz! (and possibly a few choice hair extensions)
perms are better now than they used to be, of course, but are still kinda damaging, obv

Yeah I honestly just don't have the time/patience to do that look using rollers/irons on the reg. Requires tons of product and never lasts as long as I want. My hair is pretty straight. It waves a tiny bit now that it's long but not in any kind of useful way.

Since I stopped dying my hair a year ago I was thinking I could stand a chemical process and maybe curls would make up for lame/dull color?

The problem I always found with perms is that I still had to mess with rollers/curling iron/etc. The curls "took" better, but if I just let it dry naturally, my post-perm hair would be a bundle of frizz.

I'm going to try out that Loreal 10 minute mousse semiperm color stuff tomorrow, btw.

Oh def lemme know how it works out! My mom's here and her color looks great - she said it was a clairol mousse.

I'll do before and after photos if I remember! I got a medium golden brown shade.

I actually asked my hair stylist about body waves recently because I was thinking of growing mine out and getting one. She said that she really doesn't recommend them for people who want to wear their hair wavy and that the only time she really does them is for people who have really thin hair and need the volume but that they'll then blow it straight.

got my hair cut, realized there's a lot more grey in there than i thought! ugh. i'll have to start dying it within a year if this keeps up

yeah tza i think jaq and enbb otm about getting a body wave - you would still have spend almost as much time on your hair every day.

well, i am having the best hair days of my entire life - this has been going on for a few months now, after a lifetime of pretty much bad hair days 90% of the time. oh and i have cut down to only washing my hair 3 times a week. i didn't think i could ever do this but with my job it makes it easy (i'm not dealing w/ppl). plus, after a couple of weeks of only washing every second day, it started looking a little less greasy on the unwashed days. and the days when i do wash it, it looks better than normal.
