i love style needs to get their hair did

I am using two at a time--one at a time (like in some of the styles in the package) falls out right away. I don't want to use gel or hairspray because I'm worried that it would make my hair look bad when I take the pins out--I only wear my hair up for work and I always put it back down first thing when I get in the car afterwards. And going without washing my hair for more than a day makes my scalp itch. I might try having my husband put them in.

I trimmed a bit more than I meant to off the length on Sunday - Mr. Jaq was too terrified he'd screw it up and I couldn't see paying $$ to get the ends trimmed. Forgot about that "hair is longer when wet" deal, so took off 2" instead of 1". It's still long enough to put up, but just barely!

I trimmed my bangs a bit shorter than I wanted for the same reason (not wanting to spend $$$ – My hair was dry and I still did them too short).

Guys how do I fix staticy hair? This is not cool. Not cool at all. :(

Some sort of styling cream? Like Kiehl's silk groom or Bumble&Bumble styling cream (not sure of exact name). I think static only happens in pretty dry conditions, so getting some lube in there should help?

Leave-in conditioner? Wiping your hair with a dryer sheet?

For emergency static fix, put on some hand lotion and very lightly run your hands over your hair, smoothing it, before the lotion has completely sunk in.

i just use a little bit of water, usually does the trick

Now is the time of year (cold, dry) when I do NOT miss getting out of the old car and receiving a seriously painful shock. Every. Damn. Day.

I haven't been able to find Static Guard lately! I've been cautiously rationing out sprays from my last can.

My mom kept a case of that stuff around the house when I was growing up, for real. lol 1970s ozone layer!

btw, those Bounce free dryer sheets? That say "no dyes and perfumes"? They still have a ton of scent. I bought a box when I couldn't find Static Guard, to rub on my office chair - they have stunk up the desk.

Good suggestions. I employed the use of the handcream trick at work today. I'm going to get a really good conditioner and some styling cream as per Quincie's suggestion. Hopefully that will do the trick.

she took too much off, the layers look moronic around my face, and she just didn't even really ask me what i wanted before she started cutting. strange, because she trimmed it last time and was really attentive!

Stylist etiquette q - I found a great salon near me, and used to see one particular stylist, E, who did my highlights and cuts. One time she wasn't available so I went with this other guy in the same salon, D. He was pretty good so I have been back to him a few times because he works more days so is usually around. However the last time was not so good and I want to go back to E. I went to E just for highlights a few days ago (just cos she did a great job last time) and D was also working. Will he be offended if I ask for E from now on? I don't really know how these salons work but it's an independent place and presumably the stylists work independently in there.

he will probably be offended, stylists are really touchy about this stuff. but i say, in the end it's your hair, have the person of your choice do it!

so sunny posted on some other thread about how she cuts her own hair, and i decided to follow her lead today and do the same, since i'm too cheap and lazy to go to a real stylist. i tied it up in a ponytail and cut off about 4"! and then i kind of tried to feather my bangs a little. it looks pretty good! i mean, it's not super amazing, but a super amazing hair cut only lasts 5mins on me anyway, since my hair grows out so damn fast and i'm not the greatest at styling it. now i think i should invest in a pair of thinning scissors!

finally getting a cut today. i picked a salon based on mostly favorable yelp reviews and being sort of in my price range (damn, salons around here are $$$). i'm nervous!

Any tips for cut- your-own-bangs youtubes that are reliable and won't cause regret?

man, the guy i saw had the coolest blow out process which involved using three (3) round brushes and blowing then wrapping sections in one, leaving it there to set, then moving repeating with a second brush in the next section, then a third. i think he did a pretty decent job of leaving most length and cleaning up layers/shaping. we'll see how it looks when i style myself.

was trying on dresses for an even next weekend and realized i may need to start dyeing again... my hair just looked so washed out next to pretty, bold jewel tones and fancy dress colors.

Jeezum crow, that sounds complicated. The most I can do is to section my hair into layers with clips and dry one layer at a time. Re dyeing, everything looks so blah in the winter -- skin, hair, make-up shades. I feel like brunettes weather it a little better because at least they have a strong shade to be in contrast to.

Looking forward to getting my hair did, myself, after this moving craziness is over.

my brunette has not been refreshed since april so it's kind of a faded brown with some red tones and because my winter skin is so dull and pale, i'm thinking i might need to fix this situation. is there anything i can do from home for a temporary color boost that is not a semi-permanent dye? i don't really want to pay for a salon dye job this week, but i also need to do something.

basically, i don't want to *change* my color, just wake it up a little?

No clue. I mean there are a hundred brands/shades to try but I've never dyed my hair any color remotely "real" looking, so I dunno which is best for this thing or that thing.

i wonder if i used a color-depositing shampoo every day for a week if that would work. hmm.

i've tried that (color depositing shampoo) and it didn't do much for me, but i was expecting a little more than it was willing to give i think

My mom used to use the Roux hair rinses for temporary color - I haven't tried them in years but am tempted. I keep toying with the idea of not coloring, but it's too much fun. Though kind of a pain now my hair is so freaking long.

went with the john frieda color gloss... left it in for about 20 min or so (long enough to do the dishes - also wore a face mask at the same time! 3 birds, 1 stone!). i will try to repeat the gloss as many times as i can in the next week in hopes that i'll look a little more put together by saturday!

What does everyone reccomend for a one-day hair color? I don't want to change the color of my hair, but I suspect that it wouldn't be a good idea to show up for a job interview with grey hair.

i don't know if a one-day color exists.
they sell lots of powdery root cover up things, if that's what you need. but for all-over color, i'm not sure there's a way to cover for just a day.

One-day different looks are what wigs are made for.

seriously, because any haircolor that only lasts one day is also likely to wind up on your interview clothes

Break up, nothing! I haven't had a hair cut in 6 months or spent any money on myself: no moisturizer, no hair products, no cuts or color, no hoisery, no new foundation or make-ups, nothing. I need EVERYTHING now.

Leaning towards the bottom, prob, because let's face it: I am not going to blow-dry or straight-iron my hair every day. I don't even OWN a straight iron. So I'd like it to look good mussy. I'll have to get that volume on top somehow but I'm thinking...spray wax? Eh.

I actually love my spray wax for the volume up top part. It works really well for that.

Oh and girl it sounds like you have some beauty product shopping to do. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE. :)

Alternative to spray wax: Don't wash for three days, add cornstarch to roots to mop up oil, get another 2-3 days of wear out of it with 2 or 3x the volume. Ahhhhh laziness, my old friend.

I can't go more than one day without washing mine. :( I did use the cornstarch trick a couple weeks ago though and it was awesome!
