question: is it possible to use bronzer AND blush at the same time

i fake it so real, i am beyonce (surm), Thursday, 20 May 2010 15:04 (sixteen years ago)

cuz i don't want to fall into the trap of looking brown. my friend the other day she was like OMG look at what my bronzer does to my face isn't it amazing and i was like no it takes all the natural flush out of your face.

(except i didn't say that)

I love the idea of tinted moisturizer, since it seems like it would save time and not feel like foundation, but a good one is hard to find. I've tried the Covergirl kind and the Aveda kind and they both suuuuuuuck. I did have good luck with the free samples I got of Benefit You Rebel (SURPRISE I ENJOYED A PRODUCT FROM BENEFIT) - http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P200309.

I always used bronzer in lieu of blush.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 20 May 2010 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

the foundation thing... i just can't do it. maybe i need a really expensive super high quality one or something, but the mac stuff just looks so ~obvious~ to me, which i hate.

yeah :( the foundation i've been using on occasion is mac studio fix and it does look super-obvious.

horseshoe, Thursday, 20 May 2010 15:28 (sixteen years ago)

totally. that's why I like their tinted moisturizer

kate78, Thursday, 20 May 2010 15:30 (sixteen years ago)

i've never understood foundation it just seems so heavy. that's why i want tinted moisturizer too, i will take a look at some soon :)

What is your coloring like, surm? I sweartogod I don't work for Benefit but they have a primer called That Gal that I use basically as foundation for fancy occasions. It evens out skin tone and keeps my face from being shiny and kind of brightens things up. It's pink, but I don't use much and it blends in with my coloring perfectly (nb: that's why I am such a Benefit person - their neutrals are all ideal for my coloring. The person they used as the make-up equivalent of a "fit model" must have had my exact same skin tone). It doesn't feel or look at all like foundation.

The reviews on Make Up Alley (you should sign up if you have not already! It's a pretty good resource) are mixed - I think for a lot of people with different coloring or skin texture than I have find it to be useless or way too pink. They sell it at Sephora, so when you are making your educational Sephora trip, you should ask about it!

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 20 May 2010 16:08 (sixteen years ago)

When you remember what it's called, will you post it? Is it just for your face or for all over?
Yes, I'll post it this afternoon. It's just for face.

jenny that sounds good! that's what i was trying to say upthread -- i LOVE a nice pink color because i like to look a little flushed, as opposed to bronzed. i believe a Sephora gal once told me my skintone is "ginger" ... so That Gal might be a little too pink for me but i will def keep it in mind! will also look at the MAC tinted moisturizer

Not that I've really tried many, but I've never found a liquid foundation that looks good all over and usually you need powder on top and the texture looks terrible after about 30 mins. The Clinique superfit one I mainly use in small patches.

Grr my skin has been mainly clear for the last few months and last week I got really stressed and now my chin has erupted. It looks like the star-nosed mole on the disgusting animals thread.

I bought an SPF 50 tinted moisturizer but I feel like I have to put on plain moisturizer on anyway to avoid dry spots. And I really can't tell the difference between it and liquid foundation.

Oh! I have deodorant that they make. I read reviews that said it was the most effective "all natural" deodorant EVAR and so far so good. Plus it smells nice.

Is that for just your face or for all over?

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Friday, 21 May 2010 01:00 (sixteen years ago)

Just for face. It's a pretty small tube. I mean, you could use it elsewhere on yr bod but it would cost you a lot.

is it ungreasy?
i hate a greasy spf!
i used to use a laura mercier tinted moisturizer w/ spf that was oil free but i still felt sticky.

tehresa, Saturday, 22 May 2010 16:49 (sixteen years ago)

I would say that's probably subjective. It's less greasy than some but not ungreasy because it's pretty heavy? I dunno.

tehresa, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 00:21 (sixteen years ago)

you know what, the one i got has a TOUCH of pink, so it's good. have any new and improved makeup secrets tza? how's summer skin workin for you so far?

i fake it so real, i am beyonce (surm), Wednesday, 2 June 2010 14:07 (sixteen years ago)

hmmmm what is it called?

i think foundation is a bad look for me for summer. i feel so greasy ALL the time. so humid. what a disaster.
also my chin is broken out but i think that's hormonal.
i am loving COLOR lately. red lips! pink lips! brightly colored dresses! etc!

tehresa, Thursday, 3 June 2010 04:26 (sixteen years ago)

it is "illuminating tinted moisturizer" in shade 2 (NOT shade 1)

yes! pops of color! it's like, vital

i fake it so real, i am beyonce (surm), Thursday, 3 June 2010 14:04 (sixteen years ago)

i fear shade 2 will be too dark for me!

tehresa, Friday, 4 June 2010 00:31 (sixteen years ago)

you know what, it might be. you are a fair lady :) ugh whatever it's not like anything makes a difference in this humidity anyway!

i fake it so real, i am beyonce (surm), Friday, 4 June 2010 01:43 (sixteen years ago)

sigh.

tehresa, Friday, 4 June 2010 01:58 (sixteen years ago)

Aqua Backrat (ENBB), Friday, 4 June 2010 02:08 (sixteen years ago)

tehresa, Friday, 4 June 2010 03:03 (sixteen years ago)

tehresa, Saturday, 5 June 2010 00:47 (sixteen years ago)

So this girl I know is a make-up artist and she and another friend are throwing a Beauty Bar thing tomorrow night where she is doing makeovers for ppl and they're serving martinis. Sounds pretty silly but it's for charity and I like make-up and martinis are OK. Anyway I'm pretty interested in seeing what she winds up doing to me. Will let you know if I learn anything interesting.

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:15 (sixteen years ago)

Sounds pretty silly awesome

seriously i went to such an event once and this lady gave me the best smoky eye ever and i have never been able to duplicate it and it haunts me

horseshoe, Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:21 (sixteen years ago)

that was meant to be an encouraging story, not a sad one

horseshoe, Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:23 (sixteen years ago)

Oooh smoky eye could since that's something I don't really know how to do myself. Maybe I can request something like that!

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:43 (sixteen years ago)

that was why i asked for it and the woman was a wizard! i should have made her draw me a diagram

horseshoe, Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:46 (sixteen years ago)

Thanks for the suggestion - I think that's what I'll do! My previous post was supposed to read "could be good" btw.

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:48 (sixteen years ago)

it sounds fun imo you will have a time

horseshoe, Saturday, 5 June 2010 04:52 (sixteen years ago)

too funny

these bitches need to be put in their places (surm), Saturday, 5 June 2010 13:29 (sixteen years ago)

lol

So it was fun and I requested a subtly smoky eye and she delivered. It felt like I was wearing SO MUCH makeup but I think that's cause it was just a lot more than what I'm used to. Final result: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c287/expatrica/Decorated%20images/DSC_0033.jpg

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Sunday, 6 June 2010 16:30 (sixteen years ago)

doesn't look like too much makeup at all btw

horseshoe, Sunday, 6 June 2010 16:36 (sixteen years ago)

What blush is that? I like it.

ljubljana, Sunday, 6 June 2010 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

i can't get a good feel for the eye - are there any straight on pics?

tehresa, Sunday, 6 June 2010 18:21 (sixteen years ago)

Ljub - I'm not sure what the shade was but she used like 3 diff things on my cheeks. They were all cream MAC products - two illuminators and one blush.

T - a friend took the pics but she didn't send me a straight on one. I know she took one with my eyes closed to I could have a guide if I want to recreate the eye. I'll ask her to email me that one and post the link.

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Sunday, 6 June 2010 18:57 (sixteen years ago)

surm i know a product that you might like since you like to be glowy and highlighted and blushy and bronzy: it's this little circular quad from Hard Candy and they are all creamy, sheer, shiny highlighters. white, pink, bronze and purple. i have started using it every day and it is an easy quick way to highlight everything you want to, get your blush on and glow. every time i use it i think "surmounter would love this product"

...Funtown. (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 17:03 (sixteen years ago)
