TRUTH!

Bangs are best! I have managed to eradicate my cowlick almost completely, I had Bettie Page bangs the other day. Yay bangs!
― skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Monday, 27 October 2008 16:59 (seventeen years ago)
tombot doesn't like bangs, period, quincie. i wouldn't be too bummed about that review.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 27 October 2008 18:15 (seventeen years ago)
I love bangs. And they are quite convenient as you get older and need to mask forehead lines. Mine grow out way too fast though--I am going to put my foot down for '50s bangs next time. My costume is Trixie from Speed Racer, but the original wig had me looking more like a Beatles fan in anime clothing. Laurel, where did you go?
― Virginia Plain, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 04:07 (seventeen years ago)
Lovemore & Do, in the EV, but with a stylist who lives upstate and is only in the city occasionally. She was awesome and I would love to be her friend! But my haircut, it is perfectly adequate and I think not really suited for complicated stuff that ought to cost so much.

i am seriously considering just stopping in at supercuts for my next cut. my hair is looking so so so shitty right now, and i have no idea about any of the salons round here.
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)
L., I think for just a trim, you might not get much difference with the pricier place. I think the pricier places are good at layers, styles, angles, color, etc. I think also if you say "just a trim" the stylist assumes you don't really want anything different to be done to your hair. When I used to have long straight hair, I never went to an expensive place, and I used to always ask for just a trim.
― Virginia Plain, Wednesday, 29 October 2008 04:08 (seventeen years ago)
some crappy stylists can end up changing your style with 'just a trim' though. like, they fuck up the layering or angles, or just don't follow how it's already cut/shaped.

The bowl-cut mistake-wig might come in handy after all. Any ideas for a costume that could make use of it for a dress like a rock-star karaoke event?
― Virginia Plain, Thursday, 30 October 2008 01:34 (seventeen years ago)
so today, while waiting for my bf while he was at the dentist, i walked into a slightly dodgy looking asian hair salon and asked if they could cut my hair on the spot. now i somehow have ended up with a 'bob'.
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 02:34 (seventeen years ago)
I bet it looks cute!
― Lil Nunu (ENBB), Friday, 31 October 2008 03:08 (seventeen years ago)
with my mousey brown hair, it looks kind of 'suburban mom'
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 03:53 (seventeen years ago)
guys. im thinking seriously about chocolate brown. talk me out of it. quick.
― DC Purrman (sunny successor), Friday, 31 October 2008 04:03 (seventeen years ago)
You are the ultimate blonde! You love blondes!

black!! go black!!
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 04:50 (seventeen years ago)
i tried on a black halloween wig and it seemed to look better. like WAY better. I have a photo. maybe I'll poll this.
― DC Purrman (sunny successor), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:12 (seventeen years ago)
i have seen the photos of you with black hair! that's why i think you should go BLACK BLACK BLACK. dude you looked like a way foxier version of pj harvey.
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:31 (seventeen years ago)
i am about to blowdry my new haircut and am kinda dreading it. i just KNOW it's gonna look A+ atrocious.
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)
I can see why brown would be really flattering on you Sunny and don't acutally think it's a bad idea. I just love to think of you as a blonde. :-( If you do do it, I would go medium to dark brown rather than black because black might be a little too harsh.
― Lil Nunu (ENBB), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:33 (seventeen years ago)
you haven't seen the photos of her with black hair!
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:44 (seventeen years ago)
The ones from High School? I did! It looked awesome but I think it's easier to pull off extremes at that age and gets a little harder when we're older. I know I couldn't do really extreme light or dark anymore. Then again I could be totally wrong - it might look awesome on S still.
― Lil Nunu (ENBB), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:50 (seventeen years ago)
ok it's not really a bob now, it's just... short hair:http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3180/2988835067_5327418ca4.jpg
positives: it cost me $32 + tip ($8 - is that about right? i had no idea how much is the norm), and that was a wash/cut/dry
it takes about a 1/4 of the time to dry my hair
it feels a lot nicer now that there isn't a ton of split ends
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:51 (seventeen years ago)
$8 is fine for the tip. and your hair doesn't look mousey in that photo! i think it's a really nice color.
― lauren, Friday, 31 October 2008 16:53 (seventeen years ago)
sunny, what's your natural color?
― lauren, Friday, 31 October 2008 16:54 (seventeen years ago)
I think that's a v versatile hairstyle, actually. You could flat iron it and paste the ends for a shattered/piecey look, or flip it in or out, or put it up with bits falling out to soften it. I feel like I could work that that! :)
― Vampire romances depend on me (Laurel), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:55 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, I agree. I like the cut Ruby and it's not that short. I think it looks really nice.
― Lil Nunu (ENBB), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:56 (seventeen years ago)
thank you, ladies. lauren, it is mostly just the flash on the camera making it look glossy than it is. i feel a dark brown hair dye coming on.
the problem is, mostly, that i'm too impatient to style my hair. when she blew it out yesterday, it was flipped under, like a proper bob, but it took about 30 mins to do that. i tried flipping it out today and was only mildly successful. plus, it's wayyyy shorter in the back than in the front.
― undiscovered cuntry (Rubyredd), Friday, 31 October 2008 16:59 (seventeen years ago)
lookin good, ruby!!
― highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 31 October 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)
paging SCHEFTER: where do you get yr hair did? (sorry if you answered and i missed it).
I prefer shorter in back, though. I know it's been diagnosed on this thread as the cut that "everyone" is suddenly getting, but that depends on where you are, I would assume.
Very Aeon Flux! I say go more geometric with the styling.
― Vampire romances depend on me (Laurel), Friday, 31 October 2008 17:24 (seventeen years ago)
when i got my hair cut last night, my stylist was like "omg, i have to show you this stuff" and pulled out a japanese hair magazine. most of the cuts were surprisingly boring, but there was a section of crazy precision cuts that i can't even describe properly. they were versions of bobs that had like, deep curving swooshes cut into the sides and then tapered to a point in back... he made me promise not to ask him for one before he let me see.
― lauren, Friday, 31 October 2008 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
omg, that sounds dreamy!!
― highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 31 October 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)
lauren my hair is naturally medium to dark brown but goes light brown in summer. well it did when it was last natural when i was 15 haha.
― DC Purrman (sunny successor), Friday, 31 October 2008 19:48 (seventeen years ago)
it cost me $32 + tip ($8 - is that about right? i had no idea how much is the norm), and that was a wash/cut/dry
this is the same exact cost of my haircut. sometimes i tip a little more, but i live in ny.
― gabbneb, Friday, 31 October 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)
ss - you should go for a warm dark brown, like blair waldorf back from summer vacation!
― lauren, Friday, 31 October 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)
well now youre just baiting me!
― DC Purrman (sunny successor), Friday, 31 October 2008 20:15 (seventeen years ago)
she's the perfect example, though! i love that golden medium/dark brown. my skin tone is way too cool for it.
― lauren, Friday, 31 October 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)
tza: i go to a girl called anna. she currently resides at the jeffrey stein chain salon on columbus and 72nd.

tho i haven't in a while and this morning when i pushed my bangs back to wash my face i was like dang i gotta get my hair touched up this is like a full inch+ of roots.
I think Timi Yuro will be my karaoke costume for the night. (With the bad wig.) Any clothing ideas? I wish my white boots weren't in Virginia.
