"Solider Girl" isn't too bad, anyone check out their album and if so, would you recommend it?

After Soldier Girl, the album just felt like a huge letdown. Wouldn't bother to be honest.

Though Teletext gave it 9/10. According to them, I have no soul. Hmm.

If you're into stuff like Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev, the PS album's definitely worth checking out - nothing like as thrilling as they are live 'though (although the singer does seem to have adopted some mildly irritating early-Bowie stylings which aren't in evidence to the same extent on the album).

Said it before, will say it again -- it's Primal Scream with a Mike Curb Congregation jones instead of a Stooges one.

I think it is good... but what exactly does "Any Good" mean?

dotn be lazy- check it out for yourself

one month passes...
Seeing them live on Jools Holland was a blast. They have hooks, looks and soul. Fantastically refreshing and challenging.

They are phenomenal live. Didn't stop grinning through the whole show I saw them and neither did anyone else. The album is good but not a patch on the live experience and that's the first time I've been able to say that about any act.

I can tell just by their name that they are shite.

I can tell just by their name that they are shite.

I was thinking the same thing when I looked at your name!, funny that.

and to make this useful, the strings version of 'Soldier Girl' is absolutely beautiful.. I think its better than the LP version

Aren't they some kind of cult? They look like they really, really want you to drink some of their kool-aid...

It's almost a bit like somebody thought the Causey Way would do good in a different guise. Which might be the point, but still.

Didn't stop grinning through the whole show I saw them and neither did anyone else.

Yes, but it's already been established that we all hate fun.

The album is lush. Go and buy it. Or whatever you people do to get hold of records thse days...load-downing is it?

ten years pass...

this weekend they are performing twice at camp bestival.
once doing their own thing, and then again doing the rocky horror thing.
of all the bands on the planet at the moment, this is the one i have wanted to see more than any.
i have a deal with the lads .. they give me the space to just soak up the sprees perfs, and the rest of the weekend i will take on their requests.
can't fuckin' wait.

the polyphonic spree version of rocky was as camp and excessive as i had hoped.
the band consisted of 15 members, with various folks acting the parts as required.
in other words it was a perfect sunday afternoon soundtrack at a family friendly festival
(though there were a few raised eyebrows from time too time !)
the bands second set of original material was up against the big festival finale of lasers/fireworks/animations etc.
however, the spree were far more worthy, with tim doing his connection with the masses thing to excess.
ok, in this case possibly not 'the masses' due to the alternative entertainment that was on offer.
still, they gave it their all, and i am truly grateful for the experience.
oh, and having been a sucker punch to tonights fan deal that's now available, i am now listening to the new album, and think its f&cking brilliant.

rarely have i felt such a fanboy in recent times.
and i care not.
after all, it feels good to be this happy re new music
trust me, i saw dj fresh do his thing this weekend ...

it was truly truly dreadful.

four years pass...

I still love this band.
that long weekend when I saw them twice will always be a bit of a special thing for me.

The second album is very underrated. Suitcase Calling, One Man Show and Two Thousand Places are lovely songs.
