morb derp (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 04:59 (twelve years ago) link

this was probably the first place i saw the name "mac miller"

morb derp (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 05:00 (twelve years ago) link

when this magazine came out people still cared about odd future.

Also, I get YG and YC confused.

and both should bow down to

meek mill

this guy is cool enough

big k.r.i.t.

still go back & forth on him, as i think we all do. responsible for maybe the most great music out of everyone on this list, but can be very generic and may be better suited as a producer that sometimes raps than a rapper/producer

cyhi the prince

man, if this guy ever becomes successful i'm gonna be really mad. again, not necessarily offensively awful, but depressingly generic in almost every sense. let's keep him away from chris brown.

lil twist

truly have no idea/how why lil twist is on this list. was tyga on one of the original incarnations? in any event, maybe someone at YM threw some favors at xxl. can't hate him since he's a small child, but obv have zero use for him.

yelawolf

will prob vote for yela. his album seems destined to be very good, though probably not profitable in any meaningful sense. hopefully the industry doesn't swallow his career up once he sells 8k in his first week.

fred the godson

can't imagine that we'll ever hear from this guy in any meaningful sense. not sure he can actually write a song, let alone 11 of them.

mac miller

what is there to say? let's hope he goes the way of the asher.

yg

"toot it & boot it" is of course a classic. not even remotely shocking that there's been no peep from him since.

lil b

i am a lil b fan, seems weird to even put him in the context of these other rappers. i considered voting for him, but his output to me is still 10% amazing straight classics, 80% stuff that's decent, 10% stuff that's not necessarily listenable. altho as a persona his existence is most important to me of everyone on this list.

kendrick lamar

i fuck w/ lamar, think he has good buzz now & will get industry push & could see him ascending to cudi/khalifa levels this time next year if he plays his cards right.

diggy simmons

again, he's a small child, so it's hard to get mad. but he is infuriating in the sense that you'd wish a 14 year old wouldn't fashion himself after yung berg or something. there is really no reason for him to exist except for us to feel happy that one of rev run's children was able to transcend reality tv faux-stardom.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 6 September 2011 05:23 (twelve years ago) link

cyhi the prince will probably be just as successful as big sean, which can't possibly be as bad as big sean's success

big spiritual hat club (some dude), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 05:33 (twelve years ago) link

his output to me is still 10% amazing straight classics

i know you're trying to be measured and rational here but you just said he has 100 classic songs, gtfo

Thought about yelawolf, voted lil b, not even listened to any of the others.

prego, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 16:57 (twelve years ago) link

I love Yela and Lil B, but I voted for Kendrick. Section.80 is probably top three rap albums of the year for me.

symsymsym, Saturday, 10 September 2011 00:02 (twelve years ago) link

I wouldn't say Meek Mill "has two hit singles," when he has a hit w/o Ross on it I'll say he's on a roll. that said, I voted for him because "Ima Boss" is my jam right now.
