they have put out so much but i have realised ive barely heard anything outside of fly lo and a couple of tracks from tokimonsta and that lorn album. tbh a lot of it doesnt do much for me and sounds like trip hop leftovers/reboots but maybe ive overlooked some good stuff - the new ras g album is cool if just another beat tape, and i love the thundercat album - where to start with brainfeeder (which of course sounds like braindance btw, in case anyone needed a more explicit IDM link)???

is all thundercat this good?

iirc i wasnt partic taken by his first album but as regards this year's then the answer is uh... kinda? that tune is not really totally representative of the rest in terms of style, though it blends in equally within his desultory fitful sort of vibe

i'm into this new album without like, loving it personally and wanting to recommend it everywhere but if you liked that then you should def check it out. to me it has like a simultaneous heavy prog-soul genuine woundedness and then a chillwavey comforter inanity (singing about his cat called turbotron most notably) that together feels weirdly alluring but idk. r&b game ariel pink if i were being harsh perhaps

ah, too bad. i listened to the other single heartbreaks + setback and it's pretty boring. i'll check it out tho

Feeling this Taylor McFerrin album.

three weeks pass...

at first, i was lukewarm on that Taylor McFerrin album cuz i was all, "this record only has one vibe!"

but then i was all, "that vibe rules and this record is what i need when i open up the shop on a sunday morning."

been digging it a lot...possibly even in my year's top ten.

Been trawling through some of their back catalogue this morning, Taylor McFerrin and Lorn are the standouts.
