I really like: Veteran, Sorry, Yamaha, Love King and Make Up Bag quite a lot, but it's Abyss for gotdam sure. That huge build up til the piano creeps in and the beat drops and the vocals swell is so tasty.

FILA is a fine song, but it sounds like a less robust version of Rockin That.

LK took longer to appreciate than the first two, but the payoff was/is there.

yeah, i'm in the non-superfan camp. i'm a fan, sure, but all things in moderation. of the songs i haven't mentioned, glad the title track is getting some attention. it's not among my very favorite tracks, but it's damn good, and was mostly ignored in the initial ILM appraisals, iirc. don't get "make up bag", though, still not on board w that.

"Make Up Bag" is a drab shitty song and the fact that the guy's gorgeous wife divorced him for cheating just as it was flopping as a single makes its lyric even more odious.

Same here - the first is actively awful and the other two I like but their relative restraint feels kinda out of place against the preposterous excess of the rest of the album. In a certain mood though I go directly for Turnt Out and February Love on their own though.

Veteran is magnificent and it still annoys me that Terius included Panties To The Side instead of it.

I kinda think of Nikki Pt 2 and Abyss as the same song, they don't really work on their own. Wish they were one track really.

panties to the side is the song ive most warmed up to after initially always skipping it; now i kinda group it w/ 'ditch that' or 'hit it on the road' as overt standalone-type tracks that are good to drive or jog to

like "panties to the side" and never got the hate. it's gross, sure, but unlike "make up bag", justifies itself musically, imo.

But Make Up Bag has those amazing watery organ noises whereas the music is the worst thing about Panties To The Side. WFY has awesome momentum, Panties To The Side just waddles along awkwardly.

i said this when the album came out but stylistically "make up bag" is more in the "i luv your girl" lineage than the other 3 i mentioned - each is not among the strongest songs on its album and sort of fucks up the flow, but each sounds better outside of album context. "i luv your girl" >>> "make up bag" tho

Yeah, I don't quite love "I Luv Your Girl" on the album, but it's prob my favorite single of his as a radio jam.

"Make Up Bag" isn't as strong tho.

imo it doesn't touch "shawty is da shit!", which is still his best single i think, but yeah outside of album context it works much better
