i don't even HEAR an obvious next single on C4 aside from the songs that have been already released. maybe that horrible Bruno Mars bonus track.

at least get the cadence riht
Not sure what this means, but I was wondering where I heard that "subject and predicate" line before.

one thing I hate about nu-ILX is people trying to replace classic gifs with flavor-of-the-day gifs from senorgif and 4gifs
think carefully about what your nu-gif offers over the classic before you use it, ppl
― Whiney G. Blutfarten (dayo), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 13:54 (twelve years ago) link
lol I forgot about that gif
Funny thing is that when we were listening to IV in the car the other day my wife actually cited that "subject and predicate" line as one of the better ones on the album and so much better than the rest of his "lame puns".
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 13:55 (twelve years ago) link
idgi though, almost every sentence is going to contain a subject and predicate. where's the pun
― Whiney G. Blutfarten (dayo), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 13:57 (twelve years ago) link
well it's a pun because the "sentence" he got through was a prison sentence
― some dude, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 13:59 (twelve years ago) link
possible additional wordplay on the term 'predicate felon' but that's prob giving him too much credit
― some dude, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 14:01 (twelve years ago) link
oh haha. I thought he was still talking about elephants and gelatin
― Whiney G. Blutfarten (dayo), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 14:02 (twelve years ago) link
t/f: that line would be improved if he said instead "I got through that sentence... PREDICATE"

that and the lasagna line are fine imo, although they're both examples of wayne getting into that nu-jay zone where his good lyrics work better on paper than on record

I semi-like the interlude one with Tech N9ne & Dre Ben. Horrible album though.
― Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Sunday, 14 October 2012 04:48 (eleven years ago) link
for real, not generally a big Tech N9ne fan but his verse on this album is one of the only good things about it. I sorta liked John when it dropped but already can't remember anything about it beyond it being an inferior remake of I'm Not a Star

did you all hear this cover of "how to love"?
http://soundcloud.com/vagrantrecords/sviib-howtolove
against the odds it's really amazing
― lex pretend, Sunday, 14 October 2012 12:59 (eleven years ago) link
I liked "Blunt Blowin."
The first several songs on this album are actually pretty good, mixtape-caliber Wayne. But then the curious guests, high concepts and genre experiments come in and it's all over.
― Evan R, Sunday, 14 October 2012 14:39 (eleven years ago) link
Kinda forget how much I liked "John," though. A perfect love letter to the idea of Rick Ross.
― Evan R, Sunday, 14 October 2012 14:40 (eleven years ago) link
haha I completely forgot about "John"
― Cap'n Hug-a-Thug (The Reverend), Sunday, 14 October 2012 18:54 (eleven years ago) link
I am still amused by the title

i'm not sure a song's title has so negatively affected my feelings about it

song is dope man -- once i got past that it's not "i'm not a star" i grew to really like it

also had to get past wayne fumbling w/ a guitar while wearing jeggings during that song at the vmas

nope to which j0rdan?
― heiswagger (rennavate), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 15:02 (eleven years ago) link
i think j0rdan was saying carter 4 is a toilet. although rennavate's post seemed to misunderstanding whiney's post re: the song title "john."
as far as unworthy blockbuster rap albums go, you could do a lot worse than carter 4. it's more bland and overly familiar than outright bad.
― some dude, Tuesday, 16 October 2012 19:48 (eleven years ago) link
Yeah. It had some songs but was mostly bland and uninspired. I don't know why everybody hates How To Love though. That's a pretty good song.
― Gelados n cream (longneck), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 20:02 (eleven years ago) link
The singles are almost all better than I remember them, and there were a fair amount of them, so by that measure the album did what it set out to do
― Evan R, Tuesday, 16 October 2012 20:06 (eleven years ago) link
Also forgot about that closing track where Bun B, Busta and Nas all kind of kill it, but Wayne never shows up and it's just as well
i grew to appreciate "How To Love" over time, as much as i wanted to dismiss it outright
