Personal favorite song:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M0asv_oe_k
and yet every time I listen to the band, I only think that this band scrapes by with Rose Melberg's mere existence. That I thought she was a stock-portrait of the twee scene in Tiger Trap, and then listening to this find her utterly essential to the band doesn't speak well for it. Melodies are vague and the guitarist seems to be incapable (wait - is the guitarist Rose? Say it aint so!!) of coming up with 12 different iterations of the same riff... Go Sailor just doesn't do it for me.
So it's a personal dud, but on the flipside I can say with no hesitation that Tiger Trap is definitive Classic. But that's a different thread.

I had exactly the same reaction. Discovered Tiger Trap a few years after the fact, liked them a lot, went on and tried Go Sailor, and it was just too much of the same.

"Together Forever in Love" is a late 90s twee pop classic, reminding me of KXLU and No Life Records and Tullycraft in-stores at Aron's Records and so on.

Going off a little bit, could you/anybody recommend me more twee stuff in this vein? Belle and Sebastian annoys me a bit but that Tiger Trap album I honestly play at least once every couple weeks.

Cub! Box of Hair in particular.

There's a fantastic song called "Riverside" on Box of Hair. (And you're making me think I should give Go Sailor another listen.) Someone else in the same vein I'd look for is Ladybug from the late '90s. "Go" and "Sheet" are all-time favorites.

Oh - and The Softies. Sometimes I think of the fact that this stuff was referred to as "Cuddlecore" in fanzines at the time and I want to run and throw on Black Breath and pretend it isn't true. But a lot of this stuff holds up, I think!

my wife was a big fan of this record around the time we started dating, so it's got an instant nostalgia thing going for me. haven't listened to it in forever. should dig it out, i bet our kid would enjoy it.

dunno anything about this band or tiger trap, but LOVE "long distance". such a perfect distillation of everything i dug about the slumberland/k rex sound in the early 90s. thx, kelpo.

So I'm guessing from from the lack of opinions that there's an air of unanimous dud. Or not. Maybe this wasn't such a good choice for a C/D thread - I had made the Tiger Trap one some months back and ppl seemed to mostly agree the band was great, but then I felt another Tiger Trap kick, got referenced to a Go Sailor vid via youtube, and was kinda shocked to see 50,000 (!) views for a band so ill-recognized. Whereas the avg. Tiger Trap song only around 5,000 at most. But the 50k seems to be oddly attributed to the fact that this moviehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0179116/contained "together forever in love", which not for reasons of song make me go O_o that so many ppl saw this in the first place.

Go Sailor are, for me, the only Rose Melberg related thing I go back to, asides from the odd Softies track. I love at least 75% of the Go Sailor stuff to bits.. really hoping their currentish reformation stretched to an appearance at Indietracks this summer.

The use of "Together Forever in Love" on the soundtrack of a late 90s lesbian-themed indie movie actually pre-dates "But I'm a Cheerleader"! I first heard of Go Sailor because the song is used on the end credits of Lover Girl with Tara Subkoff.
