Who did the seamless transition thing better on a live album: Slayer going from "Hell Awaits" into "The Anti-Christ" on Decade of Aggression: Live, or James Brown and the JBs going from "Brother Rapp" into "Ain't It Funky Now" on Love Power Peace: Live at the Olympia, Paris, 1971?

Slayer. that transition, esp the one on Decade of Aggression, just makes me want to smash tables

nine years pass...

I think Decade of Aggression was the fifth Slayer album I purchased, and I didn't have South of Heaven, Show No Mercy, or Hell Awaits yet, so nevermind the awesomeness of hearing the mighty buildup in "Hell Awaits", or the chaotic insanity of that song, hearing it false-end and go right into "The Antichrist", another tune I didn't know but instantly loved, was like a jolt of energy for my 18-year old ass.

pretty much made me go out and buy those three albums not long after (I didn't have much money so I had to do it gradually).

I am a free. I am not man. A number. (Neanderthal), Friday, 22 May 2020 04:57 (one week ago) link
