POLLBRMX19 -- Autechre :: Garbage:: EP3

Easily my favorite EP and I'd argue the first unimpeachably awesome Ae release. Love the cavernous ambient they're doing here, quality is solid to all-time. Leaning to "vletrmx21," but "bronchusevenmx24" is spooky good.

Yeah, this is probably their best EP. Autechre really should have made an entire album like this, too bad they never did. I'm also leaning "vletrmx21".

I like the beats on the first track but the atmosphere of the last track.

This EP is pretty perfect.

OK, I learned just now that the numbers following the titles represent the length of each track, as a percentage of the overall length of the EP. I can't be the only one here who didn't already know this ... ?

Best EP! It's barely top five for me. VLetrmx21 and Garbagemx36 in the lead here, bronchusevenmx24 ok but piobmx9 is rubbish.

yeah, it's a bookended ep, not the best I'd say. was Garbagermx the first Autechre track that starts all spikey and messy but gradually strips back the layers to reveal a really pretty, sad melody? That's the best kinda Ae track. See also - Cichli.

i think some of their most interesting spaces are on this one. not really sure how to describe what i mean. i just get a feeling that there's a sort of an environment in each track that inhabits a defined physical space. or something...

garbagemx is one of their best compositions for sure, also has one of those great weird and slippery sounds they do (see also second peng). bronchus used to be my favorite thing to put on when i was feeling depressed but didn't want to think about it. one of those two for me, hm.

honestly I think this particular ep should of been combined with anvil vapre for the poll

honestly they are standalone works, regardless of how they saw the light of day in your marvellous yet infuriating country.

This is probably my favorite Autechre release. They never did anything like it before or after.

Lorax, AV will have its day in the sun! And who knows, maybe we'll do a meta poll when we reach EP10 and LP10. Anyway, AeG and AV sound wholly different to me, in mood if not execution.

Barry, I didn't know about the numbers representing percentages till earlier this year, and I think it's why the last track is listed simply as "vletrmx" (no 21) on Warp 10+3.

Envane and Anvil Vapre are both much better (the former's one of my favourite releases by anyone ever).
But "vletrmx21" gets mine.

Relistened to PIOBmx19 -- it's great! A lot more to the point than Garbagemx imho, which meanders for a LONG time before it gets to the good spooky part.

Track 3 according to spotify is 'Brunchusevenmx'. Not sure why that's making me laugh so hard.

vletrmx is still incredible.
