TS: The Cure vs Jedward

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm relieved or disappointed to learn that Jedward is two people, rather than some kind of schlubby/goofy singular pop star actually named "Jedward"

I mean, I would always just notice something about something called Jedward on X Factor and imagine a kooky homely older guy with glasses going "Hullo, I'm yr pal JEDWARD!"

No it's worse because there are two of them.

Their next single is rumoured to be House of Pain's "Jump Around". Should make the choreography simpler, assuming that Jedward can jump up and down in time.

still think they'll be just TV presenters within 18 months

Seriously, I'm in awe of this. Yes, at 2:05 is when he REALLY fucks it up, but he actually injures it during the tumbling at about 0:30 because he's crawling by the next time you see him at about 0:39.

It's kind of rare that you notice a singer's timing, because a singer has a lot of freedom inside a pop song -- to move around, to find his own space. A good singer can sometimes seem to be not singing with the rhythm but almost dictating to the rhythm how it will feel, what its mood will be.

Jedward's timing on "Oops! I Did It Again" is not an example of this.

my favourite cure-related things are every cover of "love song" i've heard

i don't have any favourite jedward-related things

Nonsense, there's always the happy moment when you realize that they have left your TV screen or that a song of theirs has stopped playing.

i avoid those moments via the classic tricks of not having them on my tv screen and not playing their songs

But pop is designed to foist itself upon you when you are least suspecting.

I can see Robert Smith's voice as a barrier to entry for you, lex. I just spent 20 minutes looking for a song to bounce off of you before going "eh, nvrmind" lol.

on the plus side, I am now listening to "Primary" and very happy
