Bit like last.fm in that it recommends gigs for you and lets you see who else is going, but it'll also send you out an email whenever any bands you track announce new shows with links to where to get the cheapest tickets from. Also acts as post-match analysis centre with photos, videos, setlists and reviews uploaded (which pop into your feed if you're tracking the artist, venue or event involved).

Seems pretty interesting. Just wondered what you guys thought..

Here's my profile and the site's front page for signing up/general browsing.

I use it a wee bit, at least I'm signed up. Not really got into it yet though. I signed up a while ago, but left it alone to see if it could pick up momentum in terms of content and users as it was pretty quiet then. I think it's a good idea though, so would like to see it take off.

Tis a good site; will indeed be better the more people sign up. the artist + friend tracking thing is pretty great.

The best bit is when you import all your last.fm artists and event history.

Enjoying using at the moment, usual problems with this sort of thing is mislabelling venues and then there's multiple places and they can't merge them if people say they were at one of the gigs, but they're looking into these. Should get better with time I reckon.

Kind of regret throwing out all my ticket stubs in a fit of pique a few years back - I can't really be bothered going through NMEs at my parents' house to fill in Buckley Tivoli lsitings 96-98.

I signed up to this a few months ago and spent a few days adding old gigs but then kind of forgot about it. I get emails every few days telling me about gigs I might be interested in, which is handy. This is me: http://www.songkick.com/users/napawo

iConcertCal is a pretty neat little download for iTunes. It notifies you of upcoming gigs in your area and CD releases based on what's in your library. It works as another iTunes visualizer.

I'm also hoping it takes off - it's an incredibly exciting prospect which I think would be useful and interesting for the majority of gig-goers whose interest doesn't end with the last song of the set.
Thank you for replying, and new sign-ups post links to your profiles in this thread!

five years pass...

Is anyone using this, or any other concert tracker? I used iConcertCal with iTunes until they stopped updating it years ago and it was perfect for me. Looking for something current that will do the same thing: create a show calendar based on my iTunes content.

It's hard to tell without signing up but it doesn't look like Songkick is quite as straightforward. I guess there's no calendar view, but is there at least a list view by date? Can you track bands without having to get an email every time a show is announced?

Any other website and/or app recommendations welcome.

last.fm is still way better than songkick for gigs imho. You need to visit the website (the last.fm app is terrible) but it will give you a concert calendar w/recommendations based on your last.fm listening history (which you can probably import from iTunes, idk). Or you can just browse the full event listings for your city.

you don't have to visit the website - there's an rss feed. if you don't use an rss reader, you can use an rss-to-email service like https://blogtrottr.com/

Does last.fm allow you to limit listings to bands that are in your library, or at least limit the number of recommendations? That's really the issue I'm having -- I already have good comprehensive listings, but I'm in the in NYC market and with two small children I just don't have time to scan those (there are currently 732 scheduled shows that I could potentially be interested in) and I invariably miss stuff that I would've like to have seen.

The two things I miss most about iConcertCal are:
- limited to my artist library
- calendar view as opposed to list view

Doesn't look like anything else offers those, but I maybe I'll give last.fm a shot. Any idea if it scobbles from 3rd party apps -- most of my listening these days is through the CanOpener iPhone app for headphone crossfeed.

not bands in your library, but http://www.last.fm/events/+place/United+States/New+York?showAll=0 will default to recommended shows and should give you a manageable list once it knows what kind of music you like. I suspect it only scrobbles through the last.fm software though.
